Create text animation in Photoshop

In this tutorial, you will learn how to create simple text animation in Photoshop.

Step 1. We start by creating a new document with a size of 1000×300 pixels. Fill it with a linear gradient from color # 000000 to # 00ae0f.

Step 2. Apply Filter – Sketch – Water Paper (Filter – Sketch – Wet Paper) with the following parameters:

Fiber Lenght (Fiber Length) 5
Brightness 53
Contrast (Contrast) 73

Step 3. Take Horizontal type tool(Horizontal text) (T), use the Arial Black font, size 170pt and color # 00b75a. We write something like this:

Step 4. Merge all layers together Layer – Merge Layers (Layer – Merge layers). Name the new layer “Original”. Duplicate (CTRL + J) and apply it. Filter – Sketch – Water Paper (Filter – Sketch – Wet Paper):

Fiber Lenght (Fiber Length) 50
Brightness 0
Contrast (Contrast) 73

Rename the copy to “1”. This layer will be the first frame of our animation. Duplicate the “Original” layer, move it to the very top of the layers palette and call it “2”. Apply to it Filter – Sketch – Water Paper (Filter – Sketch – Wet Paper):

Fiber Lenght (Fiber Length) 50
Brightness 20
Contrast (Contrast) 73

Duplicate (CTRL + J) the “Original” layer, move the copy to the very top of the layers panel and call it “3”. Apply Filter – Sketch – Water Paper (Filter – Sketch – Wet Paper):

Fiber Lenght (Fiber Length) 50
Brightness 30
Contrast (Contrast) 73

Duplicate (CTRL + J) the “Original” layer, move the copy to the very top of the layers panel and call it “4”. Apply Filter – Sketch – Water Paper (Filter – Sketch – Wet Paper):

Fiber Lenght (Fiber Length) 50
Brightness 40
Contrast (Contrast) 73

Duplicate (CTRL + J) the “Original” layer, move the copy to the very top of the layers panel and call it “5”. Apply Filter – Sketch – Water Paper (Filter – Sketch – Wet Paper):

Fiber Lenght (Fiber Length) 50
Brightness 50
Contrast (Contrast) 73

Now we will work only with the parameter Fiber Lenght (Fiber length). Duplicate (CTRL + J) the “Original” layer, move the copy to the very top of the layers panel and call it “6”. Apply Filter – Sketch – Water Paper (Filter – Sketch – Wet Paper):

Fiber Lenght (Fiber Length) 40
Brightness 50
Contrast (Contrast) 73

Duplicate (CTRL + J) the “Original” layer, move the copy to the very top of the layers panel and call it “7”. Apply Filter – Sketch – Water Paper (Filter – Sketch – Wet Paper):

Fiber Lenght (Fiber Length) 30
Brightness 50
Contrast (Contrast) 73

Duplicate (CTRL + J) the “Original” layer, move the copy to the very top of the layers panel and call it “8”. Apply Filter – Sketch – Water Paper (Filter – Sketch – Wet Paper):

Fiber Lenght (Fiber Length) 20
Brightness 50
Contrast (Contrast) 73

Duplicate (CTRL + J) the “Original” layer, move the copy to the very top of the layers panel and call it “9”. Apply Filter – Sketch – Water Paper (Filter – Sketch – Wet Paper):

Fiber Lenght (Fiber Length) 10
Brightness 50
Contrast (Contrast) 73

Duplicate (CTRL + J) the “Original” layer, move the copy to the very top of the layers panel and call it “10”.

Duplicate layers 1-9 and arrange them as in the screenshot below.

Step 5. Turn off the visibility of all layers except “1”. Move on Window – Animation (Window – Animation) to open the animation panel. Click on the button highlighted in the screenshot to switch to frame mode.

Change the cyclical parameter to Forever (Infinitely).

Increase the display time of the tenth frame of the animation by 0.2.

Save the animation File – Save for Web And Devices (File – Save for web and devices). Don’t forget that the image format should be .gif
