Image disappearance

In this tutorial, we will create an animation, based on the creation of a dissolving effect using masks. We will make a structure consisting of noise, and then with the help of the “Isohelium” command (Threshold) set the contrast at six points

Step 1. Create a new document, for example 600×120 px write any text, name the layer “text”, rasterize (right-click on the layer and from the list select “Rasterize the text”)

Create channels for different levels of dissolution effect. Go to the “Channels“(Channels) holding the key Alt, click on the “Create a new channel“(Create new channel) at the bottom of the”Channels»(Channels). In the “New channel“(New channel) give the name of the channel”The foundation“, Click ok (in the”New channel“(New channel), in the”Colour“(Color) there are two parameters:”Masked areas“(Masked Areas) and”Selected areas“(Selected Areas), depending on which one you choose, the channel thumbnail will be painted in white or black)

Step 2. The main channel should be active. On the menu Editing \ Run Fill (Edit \ Fill) (Shift + F5) and in the listUse“(Use) select”Gray 50% “ (50% Gray), press ok to fill the channel with gray color.

Step 3. Select Filter \ Noise \ Add noise (Filter \ Noise \ Add Noise)

Step 4. Create a copy of the channel “base” – holding the key Alt, drag the channel “base” on the icon “Create a new channel“(Create new channel) at the bottom of the” Channels “(Channels), call the channel” basis 1 “

Step 5. Repeat step 4 several times, assign the channel names from “base 2” to “base 6”

Step 6. Make the channel “base 1” active. On the menu Image \ Correction \ Isohelium (Image \ Adjustment \ Threshold) in the “Brightness Threshold” field, enter 36.
Repeat this process with the channels “base 2” – “base 6”, each time choosing new values: 72, 108, 145, 181, 218. We must have seven channels: the “base” channel and six channels from “base 1” to “base 6”

Step 7. Go to the “Layers»(Layers). Duplicate the text layer (Ctrl+J), name “1”, duplicate layer “1” five more times and name copies from “2” to “6”.
Return to the paletteChannels“(Channels), remove the channel” base “

Step 8. Go to the “Layers“(Layers), make active the layer” 1 “, load the channel” base 1 “as a selection on the layer” 1 “- press the key combination Ctrl+Alt+four. Press key Delete, deselect Ctrl+D (if you want to see the result of actions, make all layers invisible except “1”)

Step 9. Go to layer “2”, click Ctrl+Alt+five, To load the “base 2” channel on layer “2”, press Delete

Step 10. Repeat this process for all layers from “3” to “6”, when you reach the layer “6” you will need to press the keys Ctrl+Alt+9, each time delete the contents of the selection (you do not need to reset the selection before moving to the next layer – a new selection will replace the previous one).
Now we have everything to create animation

Step 11. Go to menu Window \ Animation (Window \ Animation). On the layers palette, make all layers from “1” to “6” inclusive invisible, the first frame is the background layer

Step 12. Click on the “Copy current frame“(Dublicates current frame) at the bottom of the Animation panel. Make the layer “6” visible, make sure that the second frame is selected, and click on the “Copy current frameTo copy it. Now, when the third frame is selected on the Animation palette, make the layer “5” visible (it is not necessary to turn off the layer “6”, as the contents of the layer “5” completely covers the layer “6”). Repeat this process until you create eight frames of animation, on frame 8 the “text” layer should be visible, be careful!

Step 13. To create a looping animation, you need to add the same frames that already exist, but in reverse order, to the Animation palette. Select the eighth frame and click on the “Copy current frame“(Dublicates current frame) at the bottom of the” Animation “palette, hide the” text “layer and make the layer” 1 “visible, then copy the current frame, hide the layer” 1 “and make the layer” 2 “visible, continue the procedure until you reach 14 frames – visible layer “6”.

Step 14. On the palette “Animation“Select all frames (select the first frame and hold down the Shift key and select the last frame) and click on the arrow”Selection of the frame display time“(Selects frame delay time) and select, for example, 0.2. Select the eighth frame and set a delay time of 0.5 for it.

The animation is ready, save File \ Save for Web… (File \Save for Web), save in gif format.
You can reduce or increase the number of masks, as well as play with such parameters as “Isohelium” and “Noise” to enhance the characteristics of these commands.
