Step 1

Create a new document with the following parameters:

Step 2

Paste the texture of the old paper into the created document.

Step 3

We need to create a grunge style, not an aging effect. Create a couple of adjustment layers:

Hue / Saturation (Hue / Saturation):

Brightness / Contrast (Brightness / Contrast):

Step 4

Additionally, you can create a fill layer. Gradient (Gradient): radial gradient from white to black. A radial gradient will help create a vintage effect.

Step 5

Insert a photo of dry branches. Now you will see how you can remove the background with a mask without using a brush. This method is suitable for black and white background.

Create a copy of the layer (Ctrl + J).

Right-click and select. Rasterize layer (Rasterize Layer).

Apply Correction Brightness / Contrast (Image> Adjustments> Brightness / Contrast) (Image> Adjustments> Brightness / Contrast).

Apply correction Levels (Ctrl + L).

Reduce color saturation (Ctrl + U):

Apply another correction. Brightness / Contrast (Brightness / Contrast):

Tool Fill (Paint Bucket Tool) (G) fill the rest of the layer with white.

White brush paint over the remnants of the background.

Invert colors (Ctrl + I).

Select the entire layer (Ctrl + A) and copy it (Ctrl + C).

Step 6

To the original layer with branches add mask , click on it and paste the copied content (Ctrl + V).

Step 7

A copy can be deleted.

Step 8

Create a corrective layer for the branches Hue / Saturation (Hue / Saturation) to discolor them.

Step 9

Select a branch layer and its adjustment layer. Transfer them to the icon to create a new layer to create copies.

Step 10

Create multiple copies of the layer with branches, expand and merge them, as shown in the screenshot.

Step 11

Insert a rose in our document. Remove the background in the same way that we applied to the branches.

Step 12

Create an adjustment layer for the rose Brightness / Contrast (Brightness / Contrast).

Step 13

Insert the image of the ash in our document and place on top of the rose. Create a clipping mask (Ctrl + Alt + G).

Step 14

Wipe away some ash with a large soft brush.

Set the blending mode Overlap (Overlay). You will see that the rose petals are a little faded.

Step 15

We will make the dying part of the flower black and white. Create for rose adjustment layer Hue / Saturation (Hue / Saturation). Black brush on the mask, return the color to the left side of the flower.

Step 16

Now you need to add brushes to paint particles in the program library.

Step 17

On the mask of the rose layer, create a splitting effect on the right side.

Step 18

Insert the foliage between the branches and the rose. Using the golden section rule, determine the best location. You will need to create multiple copies to make the sheet beautiful.

Step 19

Create a new layer above the first foliage layer. Choose a soft brush with a size of 60 pixels and draw a shadow under the other leaves.

For more realism, reduce the opacity to 60%. In nature, there is no 100% black shadow.

Step 20

Create a new layer under the rose and draw a shadow from it.

Decrease opacity up to 40%.

Step 21

Insert the blood leaks under the branches.

Step 22

Apply style to blood streaks Casting a shadow (Drop Shadow): Mode – Multiplication.

Step 23

For blood, create two adjustment layers:

Brightness / Contrast (Brightness / Contrast):

Hue / Saturation (Hue / Saturation):

Step 24

Create a new layer for the blood and use a soft brush to draw a shadow on it.

Reduce the shadow opacity to 45%.

Step 25

Add a bird on top of all layers.

Step 26

Add a mask and brush particles to create a splitting effect for the bird.

Step 27

Reduce the bird’s contrast with a correction layer. Brightness / Contrast (Brightness / Contrast).

Step 28

Black brush on the mask adjustment layer paint over the right side of the bird.

Step 29

To create a dynamic scene, we will add particles. Create a new layer and select a brush to paint the particles for the tool. Stamp (Clone Stamp Tool) (S). In the settings, set Sample (Sample) – Current and lower (Current Below). While holding Alt, determine the source of the cloning, and draw the particles to the right of the bird.

Following the rule of the golden section, add particles on top of the flower.

Step 30

Insert the crow in our document and repeat for it the same steps as for the jackdaw.

Create the following adjustment layers for the crow:

Hue / Saturation (Hue / Saturation):

Brightness / Contrast (Brightness / Contrast):

Create a new layer and use a soft gray brush with a size of 30 pixels to make a few strokes on the crow.

Reduce the layer opacity to 20% and set the blending mode Replacing dark (Darken). The result will be a realistic effect of paint smeared on paper.

Step 31

Download a brush for drawing pens and customize it as shown in the screenshot.

Step 32

Create a new layer and draw black feathers.

Step 33

Create a new layer and add more feathers.

Step 34

To create a depth of field, apply a blur filter to feathers that are closer to the camera. Use filter Gaussian blur (Filter> Blur> Gaussian Blur) (Filter> Blur> Gaussian Blur).

Step 35

Create a new layer under the layer of blood. Use a soft brush to draw the shadow of a flower, bird, and feather. Under feathers the shadow will be weaker than under the bird and flower.

Reduce the layer opacity to 22%.

Step 36

Create a new layer and draw a similar shadow from the branches.

Decrease opacity up to 20%.

Step 37

Create a copy of the particle layer and drop it under a layer with shadows and a gradient fill.

Apply filter Gaussian blur (Gaussian Blur).

Step 38

Insert the ornament into our document and place it under the rose. Set the blending mode Multiplication (Multiply).

Create multiple copies of the ornament and place them along the edges of the foliage. Use different images to get a more beautiful result.

Step 39

Insert foliage under the ornament and set the blending mode Multiplication (Multiply).

Apply filter Glow at the edges (Filter> Stylize> Glow at the edges) (Filter> Stylize> Glowing Edges).

Create for foliage Brightness / Contrast adjustment layer (Brightness / Contrast).

Another foliar adjustment layer – Hue / Saturation (Hue / Saturation).

Create an adjustment layer Inversion (Invert).

Step 40

On top of all layers create an adjustment layer. Brightness / Contrast (Brightness / Contrast).

The color portion has become too contrasted. To fix this, use a black brush to paint it on the mask.

Step 41

Create an adjustment layer Color balance (Color Balance).

Step 42

Create a fill layer Gradient (Gradient).

Reduce the opacity to 30% and set the blending mode Overlap (Overlay).

Step 43

Finally, create an adjustment layer. Brightness / Contrast (Brightness / Contrast).
