Create a fabric texture in Photoshop

Here is another interesting lesson where I am going to show you how to create an amazing fabric texture using only Photoshop tools.

Let’s start with the new document. For this tutorial, am I using a 700 document? 700 pixels, do not be afraid to use a larger size. Choose suitable colors, eg colors. # 7000a4, #911661 and fill the document with a linear gradient.

After that we use Smudge tool (finger) to add a couple of strokes. (Brush: 100px, Mode: Normal, Intensity: 50%)

Well, then we create the texture. Apply Filter> Texture> Texturizer (filter> texture> texturing) with the following settings:

It should turn out as in the picture below.

Now you need to add folds on our fabric. Select Burn tool (dimmer) and add some dark lines to the canvas (Brush: 100 pixels, mode: Shadows, exposure: 20%).

Now, apply Dodge tool ( brightener) to increase the contrast folds. (Brush: 100 pixels, mode: light, exposure: 30%)

Reduce the size of the brush and add thin light lines on the top of the folds.

Looks nice? And the last thing we add is the iridescent effect for our texture. To do this, apply quick mask mode With gradient as below:

Then go back to standard mode. Now we have some selected area.

Open Image> Adjustments> Hue / Saturation (image> correction> hue / saturation) or click Ctrl + U:

Remove selection with Ctrl + D, and we get the following effect:

Great, we are done! Thank you for your attention, I hope you enjoyed the lesson!
