Final result:

1. Creating a document

Step 1

Create a new document in Photoshop (Ctrl + N) size 3×3 inches. Keep in mind that we will work in CC version 2014.

Step 2

Apply Clouds filter (Filter> Rendering> Clouds) (Filter> Render> Clouds). This effect will serve as the basis for the texture.

2. Changing the color base

Step 1

Next we will change the initial texture of the clouds to get something unusual. In Photoshop for this there is a mass of filters and tools.

Apply Ripple filter (Filter> Distortion> Ripple) (Filter> Distort> Ripple).

Step 2

Create a Levels Adjustment Layer (Levels) and configure as shown in the screenshot.

Step 3

Create a Brightness / Contrast adjustment layer. (Brightness /Contrast): -18 / 17. Merge visible layers (Ctrl + Shift + E) and apply the filter Sharpness + (Filter> Sharpen> Sharpness +) (Filter> Sharpen> Sharpen More).

3. Creating a pattern

Step 1

Apply a Shift filter (Filter> Other> Shift) (Filter> Other> Shift). The task of this filter is to reduce the 4 corners of the image in the center. Most likely you will need to experiment with the settings.

Step 2

Now we need to hide or change the seams on the texture. To do this, you will need grunge brushes attached to the archive of the lesson. Use grayscale to paint over visible borders. After that, you can once again apply the filter noise or sharpness.

Step 3

To save the texture, go to Edit> Define Pattern (Edit> Define Pattern). To fill objects with these patterns in your project, use the Fill tool. (Paint Bucket Tool) (G).
