Create a poster from the game in Photoshop

In this lesson you will learn how to create a poster from the game “Metro Last light” (for those who do not know).

Step 1

To get started, you need to download an archive with lesson resources. Create a new document. File-create. Width – 1500 pixels., Height – 1500 pixels., Resolution 72. With the tool “Fill” (Paint bucket tool) fill the document we created with black (000000).

Step 2

Open the original image of the technical complex (metro-last-light-pc-1368448512-056) and use the tool Move (Moove Tool) transfer it to our document. Holding the key combination (Ctrl + T) transform as shown in the screenshot below:

Step 3

Add a layer mask to the layer you just worked with. Use the tool Eraser (Eraser tool) brush soft size arbitrary and go over the bottom of the original image to get the gradient effect as shown in the screenshot below:

Step 4

Add adjustment layer Gradient Map(Gradient Map) for this go to: Image – Correction – Gradient Map (Images- Correction-Gradient map). Set the blending mode to Overlap (Overlay).

And that’s what you should do:

Step 5

In this step, we will draw the main letter of the poster “M”. Create a new layer on top of all layers, use the tool Pen (Pen tool). The shape mode color is yellow (eead04), in order for the letter to be perfect you need to use the guides, in order to open them go to: View – Rulers. Next you need to activate the tool Move (Move Tool) and extrude the lines on the ruler horizontally or vertically.

Step 6

After you have completed the creation of the letter “M”, right-click on the layer with the letter and select Rasterize layer (Polygonal lasso tool). Use the tool Polygonal Lasso Create a selection outline as shown in the screenshot below:

And press the key Delto remove the selected area.

Step 7

Use the tool on the letter layer. Eraser (Eraser tool). Load a brush called (spooky splats), from the list of brushes, select any that you like and walk the contour of the letter, and you can layer the mask to the layer with the letter, it is necessary to avoid any unnecessary actions and return the layer to still mind.

Step 8

Create a new layer above all layers, use the tool Brush (Brush Tool), load a brush called (Paint Splatter), from the list of brushes, select any that you like and put paint splashes where you like.

And that’s what you should do, after you finish working with paint, you need to glue two layers together. With the Shift key pressed, select the paint layer and the letter layer and hold down the key combination (Ctrl + E)

Step 9

Open the original image from the fog (texture_tutsps), place it on our document and transform (Ctrl + T) it to the size of the letter, the layer with the texture should be located at the very top.

Apply to this layer Clipping mask (Create Clipping mask) To do this, hold the Alt key and move the mouse cursor between the texture layer and the letter layer, you will have a layer icon with a downward arrow.

For a texture layer, change the blending mode to Hard Light (Hard Ling).

Further process similar, open the initial image of a texture of concrete (texture_tutsps2). And do the same operation.

Set the blend mode for the concrete texture layer to Soft light (Soft ling).

Create a new layer above all layers, apply to it Clipping mask use the tool Brush ( Brush Tool). Brush soft size arbitrary and walk around the edges of the letters to give them a slight effect of rust, color (76370d).

Change the blending mode to Overlap (Overlay).

Step 10

The main work is completed, create a new document: File-New (File-New) Width 500 Height 500 pix. Use the tool Pen (Pen tool). Create an outline of the word “Metro”.

Go back to our main document, create a new layer above all layers. After you close the contour of the label, right-click on one of the contours and select “Fill the contour ”.

Content: Black color.

And that’s what you should do:

Then use the tool Eraser(Eraser tool) and erase sections as shown in the screenshot below:

Step 11

Next with the tool Move ( Move Tool) move “Metro” to the previously created layer, and transform it as shown in the screenshot below using the key combination (Ctrl + T).

Next, create another layer above all layers and with the tool Horizontal text (Horizontal Text) create the inscription “Last Light” using the font (Stencilia)

Step 12

We are almost done, create a new layer above all and place the original image of the tunnel there (tunnel_tutsps). Transform with the key combination (Ctrl + T) as shown in the screenshot below.

Use the tool Eraser (Eraser tool), the brush is soft, the size is arbitrary, and erase the upper part to get the gradient effect:

Put a layer with a tunnel over a layer with a technical complex, and here we are finished.
