Create a stylish wallpaper in Photoshop

Resources

Step 1. Open a new document with a white background of 1600? 1200 72dpi. Add a large highlight above the background layer. My highlight was created using the Knoll Light Factory plugin. If you have this plugin, create a layer that is filled with black above the background layer, start Knoll Light Factory and select a flare setting called Bright Bluelight. You can download the highlight that I created if you do not have this plugin.

Change the blend mode to Glow (Luminosity).

Step 2. Soften the glare by applying Linear (Linear) Gradient (Gradient) Fromblack to transparent (black transparent): set as primary color – black, click on the tool Gradient (Gradient) to activate gradient options. Set the gradient settings as in the image below, then click OK.

With active tool Gradient (Gradient) create a new layer above the highlight layer. Hold down the Shift key and drag from the top of the document to the bottom. Change the blending mode to Soft light (Soft light). This will soften the edges of the flare.

Add a pair of floral patterns to the background. I used Floral Brushes from solenero73. Use for tool Brush (Brush) white color and set to layer Opacity (Opacity) 70%. You can adjust the position of the flowers later.

Add a little more glow to the background by drawing a large oval on a new layer using the tool. Oval selection (Elliptical Marquee). Fill the selection with white, then apply 170% to the layer Gaussian Blur (Gaussian Blur). Filter (Filter) – Blur (Blur) – Gaussian blur (Gaussian Blur), then reduce Opacity (Opacity) to 25% and change the blending mode to Soft light (Soft light).

Open the wall texture from ~ T ~ [tirilhauan]

Clean up the texture by removing large cracks with the tool Stamp (Stamp). Use a soft-edged brush, then hold down the Alt key and click on the place where there are no gray spots for cloning, then start painting over the crack.

Add 24% Noise (Noise) to the wall texture. Filter (Filter) – Noise (Noise) – Add noise (Add Noise), then place the wall texture above the remaining layers. Decrease Opacity (Opacity) up to 25%.

Step 3. Add some color to the overall scene using Adjustment layers (Adjustment Layers) (Color balance (Color Balance) Gradient Fill (Gradients Fills) and Color tone (Hue) /Saturation (Saturation)).

Color balance (Color Balance) 1: Click on the crescent at the bottom of the layers palette and select Color balance (Color Balance) from the menu, apply the following settings:
Blue (Cyan): -41
Magenta (magenta) (Magenta): -21
Yellow (Yellow): -16

Decrease the parameter Fill (Fill) up to 56%.

Gradient Fill (Gradient Fill) 1: Click on the crescent-shaped icon at the bottom of the layers palette and select from the menu Gradient (Gradient).
Use these colors: # ed9017 # f8d04a # f6e6b5

Change Blend mode (Blending mode) on Linear dimmer (Linear Burn), change Opacity (Opacity) by 48% and Fill (Fill) 74%.

Gradient Fill (Gradient Fill) 2: create another gradient fill layer with the parameters shown below.
Use these colors: # b7ad70 # d5cea6
Change Blend mode (Blending mode) on Bright light (Vivid Light), leave Opacity (Opacity) at 100%.

Color balance (Color Balance) 2: click on the crescent-shaped icon at the bottom of the layers palette and select from the menu Color balance (Color Balance).
Blue (Cyan): +9
Magenta (magenta) (Magenta): +14
Yellow (Yellow): +4

Leave the parameter Fill (Fill) at 100%.

Create a group of layers Color balance (Color Balance) and Gradient Fill (Gradient Fill). Select all the layers, hold down the Shift key and simultaneously click on the icon Create a new group (Create a New Group) (a folder icon next to the crescent icon at the bottom of the layers palette). Name the group “Bright color” (Light color). All elements of your design will be under this group.

Step 4. Save your Photoshop document, then download the Xara 3D software to start creating 3D text.

Font: Roland, on my PC it was a standard font, but any will do.
Embossing type (Bevel Type): Rolled (rounded off), Depth 21.
Shadows (Shadows): disabled (off).
Extrusion: Depth (Depth) 59 Contour (Outline), Width 20.

Step five.

Light 1: (Left) (Left): # FFFFFF
Light 2: (Back) (Rear): # 140D24
Light 3: (Front) (Front): #FFFFF

Step 6. Customize your Xara 3D document to export a 3D font. Window (Window) – Quality Settings (Quality Settings) – set the Export Quality (Export Quality) to High (High), then click OK. Then click File (File) – Export (Export), set the name of your file “Music” (Music) and save it in the format .png. The export dialog box appears, use the settings shown in the image below, then click Save.

Open the 3D text in Photoshop, then before dragging it into the main document, change it color mode (color mode) with Indexed colors (Index) to RGB. Picture (Image) – Mode (Mode) – RGB. Now place the 3D text in our document under the group “Bright color” (Light color).

Create a selection of 3D text by holding down the Ctrl key and clicking on the layer thumbnail in the layers palette. Create New layer (New Layer) above volumetric letters and fill the selection with black color with the tool Fill (Paint Bucket) (G).

Change Blend mode (Blending mode) black layer on Multiplication (Multiply). Open and place the wall texture from ~ T ~ [tirilhauan] over the black layer into the document. Reduce the size of the texture to fit the 3D text.

Place the mouse cursor right between the “Wall Texture” and “Black Layer” layers and, holding the Alt key, left-click when you see the symbol in the form of two overlapping circles, see the image below.

Step 7. Now we will create a 3D sphere using the tool Ellipse (Oval) (Ellipse) and layer styles (Layer Styles).

A. Use the tool Ellipse (Oval) (ellipse) mode
AT. Layer – figure (Shape Layer) (This mode will allow you to change the size of the circle without destroying the pixels).
C. Hold down the Shift key while drawing to get the perfect circle.

Apply Gradient overlap (Gradient Overlay) to the circle and place the brightest area at the top of the circle, as shown in the image below.
Gradient colors: #fcfcfa, # 976d14, # 2a211c

Apply Internal glow (Inner Glow) with color # 2c2614

Add light Shadow (Drop Shadow) with color: # 2a2d21

You should have something similar to the image below.

Duplicate, resize and group the spheres, and place them behind the 3D text. I grouped some of them and turned the group into smart object (Smart-object). I also put some blurred spheres that dissolve in the background, under the “Wall Texture” layer, which I created in the second step. This technique will give a sense of depth.

Place smaller spheres in front of the bulk text. Then place some vector musical instruments from trait designs behind and between spheres, using the same blur technique to set the depth.

Step 8. Create bright lines with the tool Pen (Pen), Brush strokes (Brush stroke) and Layer styles (Layer Styles). Start by creating New layer (New Layer) over layers with spheres and 3D text.

A. Draw a long curved contour with the tool Pen (Pen),
B. While the tool Pen (Pen) is still active, right-click on the contour and select Circle Outline (Stroke Path) from the context menu.
C. Select the contour stroke using the tool Brush (Brush) with active parameter Simulate pressure (Simulate Pressure).

Remove contour (You can find it in the palette Contours (Path)). Go back to the layers palette and apply the following layer styles (Layer Style) to Stroke:
Gradient overlap (Gradient Overlay): #fcfcfa, # 976d14.

External glow (Outer Glow): # d38e21.

Step 9. Duplicate, group and resize the bright lines, then make more duplicates and place them around the 3D text and spheres.

Conclusion:
We have successfully created a realistic 3D composition using Xara 3D and Photoshop. Xara is a great 3D program and a very useful tool in your work.
