Create Christmas Wallpaper in Photoshop

If you want to learn how to create a holiday greeting card, then this lesson is for you. We will learn how to create an abstract Christmas background using Brushes, and create toys using the tool. Ellipse (Ellipse Tool), then add a layer style (Add a layer style). Let’s start!

Let’s start by creating a new document (Ctrl + N) in Adobe Photoshop 1920px by 1200px (RGB color mode) with resolution 72 Use the tool Fill (Paint Bucket Tool) (G) to fill with color # 01431F a new background layer.

Create a new layer and select Soft Round Brush (Brush Tool) (B), set the foreground color to # 00C962, go to the options bar and set the Opacity to 15%.

Use this Brush (Brush Tool) to draw the background as shown:

Create a new layer and select Hard Round Brush (Brush Tool) (B).

Use this Brush (Brush Tool) to create many small circles, different brush sizes and different Opacity values ​​of the brush. Color circles # 00D086 (brush Opacity (Opacity) – 15%).

In the next New layer we will use the same Brush (Brush Tool) and continue drawing circles. Their color is # 00FFD9 (Opacity Brush – 15%). Draw circles using different brush sizes and different Opacity values ​​(Opacity) brushes.

Install Fill (Fill)before 47% for this layer and change the blending mode (blend mode) to Lighter (Lighter Color).

Create a new layer and select Hard Round Brush (Brush Tool) (B), continue to draw circles of different diameter on the background.

Their color # 687F62 (Brush Opacity (Opacity)80%). Their Opacity value (Opacity) also different.

Install Fill (Fill)before 27% for this layer and change the blending mode (blend mode) to Screen (Screen).

Now we need the following set of brushes with the name: light_brushes_2. Create a new layer (Download a new layer) and download the downloaded brushes, select the following brushes from the set light_brushes_2:

Use these Brushes (Brush Tool), to draw lots of small white stars.

Install Blend Mode (Blend Mode) this layer on Hard mix (Hard Mix).

Create a new layer (Create a new layer) and using downloaded Brushes (Brush Tool), continue to draw small stars in white.

On the next New layer we will select Soft Round. Brush (Brush Tool) (B), white, set Opacity to 15% in the options bar.

Use this Brush (Brush Tool) for drawing on the background, as shown in the figure.

Install Blend Mode (Blend Mode)this layer on Linear Light.

Next we will create stars, select Polygon (Polygon Tool) (U), go to the options panel and click on the Polygon Options button. Set Radius – 110px, Beam Depth (Indent Sides by) – 42% and check whether the Smooth Corners, Smooth Corners, Smooth Indents boxes are ticked. Also set in the options panel Sides (Sides) – 5.

Click and drag to create a star shape.

Using the tool Angle (Convert point tool), we can convert a smooth point to a corner point without guide lines, as shown in the figure:

Click on the Add a layer style icon at the bottom of the layers panel and select Gradient Overlay (Gradient Overlay):

Click on the color bar to open the Gradient Editor. Set the colors as shown in the image below. Click OK, to close the dialog box Gradient editor (Gradient editor).

Add Gloss (Satin):

Apply Stroke (Stroke):

We get the following result:

Make a copy of the newly made layer, the stars (remove the Layer Styles (Layer style) from a copy). After that select the command Free Transform (Ctrl + T), click on the Maintain Aspect Ratio icon in the options bar and make a smaller copy layer. Its color is # 3BCDFE.

Click on the Add a layer style icon at the bottom of the layers panel and select Inner shadow (Inner Shadow):

Add Internal glow (Inner Glow):

Apply Stamping (Bevel and Emboss):

Install Gloss (Satin):

Result.

We got a colorful star.

Make a copy of the layer, the first star, and select the command Free transform (Free Transform) (Ctrl + T), to shrink the copy layer.

Set the Fill to 0% for this layer and click on the Add a layer style icon at the bottom of the layers panel to selectShadow (Drop Shadow):

To add Stroke (Stroke):

Select Fill Type – Gradient and click on the color bar to open the Gradient Editor, set the colors as in the picture below. Click OK to close the dialog box. Gradient editor (Gradient editor).

We get the following result.

Then we have to make the star fixture, select Pen (Pen Tool) (P), set drawing mode on Layer – Figure (Shape Layers) in the settings panel and make the following shape, as shown in the figure.

Click on the Add a layer style icon at the bottom of the layers panel and select Gradient overlay (Gradient Overlay):

Click on the color bar to open the Gradient Editor. Set the colors as shown in the image below. Click OK, to close the dialog box Gradient editor (Gradient editor).

We get the following result.

Using Ellipse (Ellipse Tool) (U), we can make a ring by placing a layer under the layer with a fastener element.

Set the Fill to 0% for this layer and click on the Add a layer style icon at the bottom of the layers panel., to choose Stroke (Stroke):

Select Fill Type – Gradient and click on the color bar to open the Gradient Editor, set the colors as in the picture below. Click OK, to close the dialog box Gradient editor (Gradient editor).

We get the following result.

Our first star is ready.

Group into a group all the star layers and the fastener with the ring (press CTRL to select the required layers and hold the left mouse button while dragging the selected layers to the Create a new group icon at the bottom of the layers panel).

Make three copies of the group you made and make changes to the copy styles on the blue star layer. Change the original color to three other colors.
Red (layer color # EB5738).

Click on the Add a layer style icon at the bottom of the layers panel and select Inner shadow (Inner Shadow):

Internal glow (Inner Glow):

Stamping (Bevel and Emboss):

Gloss (Satin):

Now our colorful stars are drawn:

Using the command Free transform (Free Transform) (Ctrl + T) we can resize a copy by placing it as shown in the following image. If necessary, we can make copies of stars.

Using Ellipse (Ellipse Tool) (U), we can now create a Christmas toy. Select the Ellipse Tool (U) and draw the following ellipse:

Click on the Add a layer style icon at the bottom of the layers panel and select Inner shadow (Inner Shadow):

Apply Gradient overlay (Gradient Overlay):

Click on the color bar to open the Gradient Editor. Set the colors as shown in the image below. Click OK to close the dialog box. Gradient editor (Gradient editor).

We get the following result:

Using the same tool, we have to make the next layer of the toy.

Click on the Add a layer style icon at the bottom of the layers panel and select Gradient overlay (Gradient Overlay):

Click on the color bar to open the Gradient Editor. Set the colors as shown in the image below. Click OK to close the dialog box. Gradient editor (Gradient editor).

We get the following result:

Take the same tool to create another layer for the toy.

Click on the Add a layer style icon at the bottom of the layers panel and select Inner shadow (Inner Shadow):

Add Internal glow (Inner Glow):

Apply Gradient overlay (Gradient Overlay):

Click on the color bar to open the Gradient Editor. Set the colors as shown in the image below. Click OK to close the dialog box. Gradient editor (Gradient editor).

We get the following result:

Create a new layer and select Soft Round Brush (Brush Tool) (B) white.

Use this Brush (Brush Tool), to make a small point on the toy.

Choose a tool Finger (Smudge tool), To smudge a point, it will be a highlight.

Using tools Ellipse (Ellipse Tool) (U) and Angle (Convert point tool), create the following shape on the toy.

Click on the Add a layer style icon at the bottom of the layers panel and select Inner shadow (Inner Shadow):

Apply Gradient overlay (Gradient Overlay):

Click on the color bar to open the Gradient Editor. Set the colors as shown in the image below. Click OK to close the dialog box. Gradient editor (Gradient editor).

We get the following result:

Create a new layer and select Soft Round Brush (Brush Tool) (B) white.

Use this Brush (Brush Tool), to draw three points that need to be processed with the tool Blur.

Now we have to make an attachment element to our toy, select Pen (Pen Tool) (P), set drawing mode on Layer – Figure (Shape Layers) in the settings panel and make the following shape, as shown in the figure.

Click on the Add a layer style icon at the bottom of the layers panel and select Gradient overlay (Gradient Overlay):

Click on the color bar to open the Gradient Editor. Set the colors as shown in the image below. Click OK to close the dialog box. Gradient editor (Gradient editor).

We get the following result:

Using Ellipse (Ellipse Tool) (U), we can make a ring by placing a layer under the layer with a fastener element.

Set the Fill to 0% for this layer and click on the Add a layer style icon at the bottom of the layers panel to select Stroke (Stroke):

Select Fill Type – Gradient and click on the color bar to open the Gradient Editor, set the colors as in the image below. Click OK to close the Gradient Editor dialog box.

We get the following result:

Group together all layers with a ball and a fastener with a ring (press CTRL to select the required layers and hold the left mouse button while dragging the selected layers onto the icon Create a new group (Create a new group) at the bottom of the layers panel. A new group must be rasterized (select the first group in the layers palette and click CTRL + E, to Merge layers (Merge Down)).

Make five copies of the rasterized layer and apply the command Free transform (Free Transform) (Ctrl + T) to resize a copy, and place them as in the image below.

Now create a thread using the tool Line (Line Tool) (U), set Thickness (Weight) 2 pixels in the settings panel. Color # C8C8C8.

We get the following result:

Thus, we can create threads for all stars and balls. These layers should be located under the layers containing stars and balls.

Let’s now create a correction layer, above the rasterized layer with the specified ball.

Click on the Create new fill or adjustment layer icon at the bottom of the layers panel and select Hue / Saturation (Hue / Saturation). Drag the slider to the left to decrease the hue and saturation of the color gamut.

We get the following result:

While holding down the Alt key, click between the layers containing the Hue / Saturation settings and the rasterized ball layer in the layers panel to create Clipping mask.

We get the following result:

Then, do the same with the other specified toy. Correction layer Hue / Saturation (Hue / Saturation) must always be located above the rasterized layer of each ball indicated in the figure.

Click on the Create new fill or adjustment layer icon at the bottom of the layer pane.at and select Hue / Saturation (Hue / Saturation). Drag the slider to the left to decrease Saturation (saturation) and another drag to the right to increase Color tone (Hue).

Hold down Altclick between the layers containing the Hue / Saturation settings and the rasterized ball layer in the layers panel to create Clipping mask.

We get the following result:

Next, we must do the same with the other specified ball.

Click on the icon Create a new adjustment layer or fill layer (Create new fill or adjustment layer) at the bottom of the layers panel and select Hue / Saturation. Drag the slider to the left to zoom out. Saturation (Saturation) and another drag to the right to increase the color tone (Hue).

Hold down Alt,click between the layers containing the Hue / Saturation settings (Hue / Saturation) and rasterized layer with the ball in the layers panel to create Clipping Mask (Clipping mask).

We get the following result:

Click on the icon Create a new adjustment layer or fill layer (Create new fill or adjustment layer) at the bottom of the layers panel and select Curves (Curves)to adjust the shape of the curve, as shown in the image below, to make small adjustments
colors.

We get the following result:

Click on the icon Create a new adjustment layer or fill layer (Create new fill or adjustment layer) at the bottom of the layers panel and select Hue / Saturation (Hue / Saturation). Create a new adjustment layer above the layer with the specified ball.

Drag the slider to the right to enlarge Color tone (Hue).

Hold down Alt,click between layers containing settings Hue / Saturation (Hue / Saturation) and rasterized layer with a ball in layer panels to create Clipping Mask (Clipping mask).

We get the following result:

In the next step we need the same set of brushes, with the name light_brushes_2.
Create a new layer and select the next one. Brush (Brush) from set light_brushes_2 .

Use this Brush (Brush) to create a radiant effect on light areas of balls and fasteners of toys.

Click on the icon Create a new adjustment layer or a fill layer (Create new fill or adjustment layer) at the bottom of the layers panel and select Curves (Curves)to adjust the shape of the curve, as shown in the image below, to make small color adjustments.

We get the following result:

In the last step, we will create New layer (New layer) and, choose Soft Round Brush (Brush Tool) (B), white.

Use this brush to paint on stars and balls, as shown in the image below.

Install Fill (Fill)before 27% for this layer and change Blend mode (Blend Mode) on Overlap (Overlay).
