Draw a card with Christmas balls in Photoshop

In this tutorial, I will show you how to create a design wallpaper or postcards that you can use on the Internet or in other projects.

So let’s get started!

Final result

Step 1

Create a new working document in Photoshop. For this we go File – New (File-New). Install the following sizes 1024? 768 px, resolution 72 dpi.

Choose a tool Rectangle (Rectangle Tool (U)), create a rectangular area. We use it as a background for our wallpapers:

Right-click on the layer with the rectangle and in the appeared window select the option Overlay options (Blending Options).

Add a layer style Gradient overlay (Gradient Overlay) with the following settings:

Next, let’s create a temporary figure that will represent the star. Using tool Arbitrary shape (Custom Shape Tool (U)), draw a star shape.

Step 4

Reduce value Fillings (Fill) for a layer with a star up to 0%

Right-click on the star layer and select the option in the window that appears. Overlay options (Blending Options).

Add a layer style Stroke (Stroke) with the following settings:

Using tool Ellipse (Ellipse Tool (U)), draw a circle that will represent the Christmas ball:

To layer with drawn circle, add layer style Internal glow (Inner Glow) with the following settings:

Next, add a layer style. Gradient overlay (Gradient Overlay) with the following settings:

Select tool again Ellipse (Ellipse Tool (U)), draw a circle that will represent the flare on the surface of the Christmas tree ball.

To the highlight layer, add a layer style. Gradient overlay (Gradient Overlay) with the following settings:

Next, we will work on the top of the Christmas ball. Choose a tool Rectangle (Rectangle Tool (U)). Draw a rectangular shape, the color of the shape is # FFC003.

Select tool again Ellipse (Ellipse Tool (U)), draw an oval that will represent a metal mount for the Christmas tree ball.

Reduce value Fillings (Fill) for a layer with a metal mount to 0%

Next, right-click on the layer with a metal mount and in the window that appears, select the option Overlay options (Blending Options).

Add a layer style Stroke (Stroke) with the following settings:

Next, we need to group all the layers related to the Christmas ball into one group. To do this, select the specified layers, and then press the keys (Ctrl + G). Duplicate the layer with the new group four times. Activate the tool Free transformation (Free Transform (Ctrl + T)) to position the Christmas balls exactly as shown in the screenshot below:

Using tool Arbitrary shape (Custom Shape Tool (U)), draw a small star inside the outline of a large star.

To layer with small star, add layer style Gradient overlay (Gradient Overlay) with the following settings:

Next, add a layer style. Stroke (Stroke) with the following settings:

Duplicate a layer with a small asterisk many times, and then activate the tool. Free Transformation (Free Transform (Ctrl + T)) to resize duplicate layers by placing stars inside the outline of a large star, as shown in the screenshot below:

Now turn off the visibility of the layer with the outline of the big star:
