Open the original image with a salute. Select the entire image, copy it, and then paste it onto our working paper. Apply scaling as shown in the screenshot below.
Change the blending mode for the salute layer to Lightening (Screen). With this blend mode, we’ll get rid of the black background, leaving only the salute image visible.
Open the original image with the Parliament building. Copy / paste the selected image of the building onto our working paper.
Add a layer mask to the building layer, let’s go Layer – Layer Mask – Show All (Layer> Layer Mask> Reveal All). Next, go Selection – Color Range (Select> Color Range) and pipette somewhere over the black sky.
Next, go to the layer mask by clicking on it. Invert the active selection (Ctrl + I). Thus, we will hide the black sky, leaving only the image of the building visible.
Go to the original salute layer. Press the keys (Ctrl + J) to duplicate this layer. Move the duplicate salute layer to the top, placing it on top of all layers. Name this layer “Reflection”.
Press the keys (Ctrl + T) to transform the layer with the reflection of the salute, also applying the scaling, as shown in the screenshot below.
Change the blending mode for the salute reflection layer to Lightening (Screen), and also reduce the opacity of this layer to 27%.
And we have completed the lesson!
