catch me

Let’s create a warm and emotional scene with a few corrections. We use Curves (Curves), Hue / Saturation (Hue / Saturation), Gradient Map (Gradient Map), Lightening and Dimming (Dodge Burn) and other techniques to achieve the final result.

Source materials:

STEP one

Let’s open the stock image with the model and separate it from the background. There are several ways to select objects. Usually, I use the technique. Quick selection + an option Refine edge (Quick Selection + Refine Edge). I additionally painted the model, but this action is at your discretion. You can leave the model as it is, it will not affect the manipulation.

STEP 2

Apply adjustment layers Hue / Saturation (Hue / Saturation) and Color Balance (Color Balance). (Only to the model layer).

Hue / Saturation (Hue / Saturation): Everything (Master)> Saturation (Saturation) -31; Red (Red)> Saturation (Saturation) +21

Color Balance (Color Balance): Shadows (Shadows): +9 -4 -7; Mid tones (Midtones): +20 0 -8; Sveta (Highlights): +5 0 -5

STEP 3

Open the stock image Tree ’, separate the tree from the background. Place the highlighted tree image on the left side of our document.

Add adjustment layer Hue / Saturation (Hue / Saturation) to correct shades of yellow. Yellow (Yellow)> Saturation (Saturation) +32; Brightness (Lightness) +12.

(We apply this correction only to the tree layer, therefore, use the adjustment layer as a clipping mask).

STEP 4

Open the stock image ‘Background’, place the layer with the background below all the layers in the layers palette.

Add adjustment layer Hue / Saturation (Hue / Saturation).

(We apply this correction only to the layer with the background, therefore, use the adjustment layer as a clipping mask).

Everything (Master): Saturation (Saturation)> -22; Red (Red): Saturated (Saturation> -38, Brightness (Lightness)> -9

STEP five

Open the stock image ‘Rabbit’, place the rabbit layer on top of the previous adjustment layer Color tone / Saturation(Hue / Saturation). Apply scaling to the image with a rabbit and add an adjustment layer. Hue / Saturation (Hue / Saturation).

(We apply this correction only to the rabbit layer, therefore, use the adjustment layer as a clipping mask).

Red (Red)> Saturation (Saturation) +41; Brightness (Lightness) -14; Yellow (Yellow): Saturation (Saturation) +41, Brightness (Lightness) +2.

STEP 6

Add adjustment layer Gradient Map (Gradient Map), apply the settings that are shown in the screenshot below. Change the blending mode for the adjustment layer to Soft light (Soft Light), the opacity of the layer is 53%.

Result:

STEP 7

Create a new layer with a fill of 50% Gray (Gray). Change the blending mode for this layer to Overlap (Overlay) and apply the tool Clarifier and dimmer (Dodge Burn).

When working with tools Brightener and Dimmer (Dodge Burn), I often use the value Range (Range): Mid tones (Midtones). Where there is a lot of light, I install the option Sveta (Highlight).

STEP 8

Create a new layer, change the blending mode for this layer to Soft light (Soft Light). Select the color shade # fde2c4 and using a brush, add light. In the screenshot below, you can see where I painted over with a brush. (The white light in the background is shown specifically so that you can clearly see the staining areas, i.e. not necessarily reproduce it!)

Result:

The light was very soft. Alternatively, you can change the blending mode for this layer to Overlap (Overlay) and slightly reduce the opacity of the layer (this is just in case you want the light to be more rigid).

STEP 9

If you like soft tones, then you can leave your manipulation as it is. I applied another adjustment layer Curves (Curves) in settings Style (Curves), I chose the Medium Contrast (RGB) option.
