Create your robot in Photoshop

In this lesson we will create a female image of a robot. See what you get after this lesson.

For the work we need:

Step 1. Create a new document of the size you need. Navigate View> Show> Grid (View – Show – Grid). Choose a tool PenTool (Pen) mode Shape layer (Layer-Figure) and draw the head (Fig. 1a). Make sure that the contour points are at the intersection of the grid, and not between them. In layer styles set Color overlay (Color overlay) on Soft Light as in Figure 1b.
See the result (Fig. 1c).

Step 2. Add a layer style Gradient overlay (Overlay gradient) (Fig. 2a, Fig. 2b). The result is in Figure 2c.

Step 3. Continue adding layer styles such as:
Inner glow (Internal luminescence) (fig. 3a),
Inner shadow (Inner shadow) (fig. 3b).
The result of the transformations in Figure 3c.

Step 4. Now create the shape shown in Figure 4a. Add layer styles Gradient overlay (fig. 4b, fig. 4c) and Inner shadow (fig. 4d). The end result is in figure 4e.

Step 5. Let’s turn to the creation of the eye. Draw a circle (fig. 5a). Add a Gradient overlay, Angle style (Angle) (Fig. 5b, Fig. 5c). The result is in Figure 5d.

Step 6. Apply the following layer styles Stroke (Stroke) (fig. 6a), Inner shadow (Inner shadow) (fig. 6b), Drop shadow (Shadow) (Fig. 6c). See the result in Figure 6d.

Step 7. Draw an orange pupil (fig. 7a). Apply Bevel and Emboss (Embossing) (Fig. 7b). See how it should turn out (Fig. 7c). Next, add Inner glow (Internal luminescence) (fig. 7d). The end result is in Figure 7e.

Step 8. Let’s finish with the eyes. Add a few more layer styles. Inner shadow (Inner shadow) (fig. 8a), Outer glow (Vernal luminescence) (fig. 8b). Now make a copy of the layer with the eye. Place them side by side (Fig. 8c). For convenience, you can create folders so that there is order in the layers (Fig. 8d).

Step 9. Draw the shape of the lips (Fig. 9a). Use Gradient overlay (Overlay gradient) from yellow to transparent (Fig. 9b). You will succeed (Fig. 9c). Add layer styles Stroke, Inner Shadow, Shadow or better copy the layer styles from eye to lip (Fig. 9d).

Step 10. Draw a dark brown tooth in the center of the mouth (Fig. 10a). Use layer styles Stamping (fig. 10b) and Inner shadow (Fig. 10c). It will turn out like this (Fig. 10d). Make several copies of the tooth and place as shown in Figure 10e. For evenness of teeth, you can use the grid.

Step 11. Draw the body as in Figure 11a. Use Gradient overlay (fig. 11b, fig. 11c), Internal glow (fig. 11d), Inner shadow (fig. 11e). The result is in Figure 11f.

Step 12. Draw the skirt as in Figure 12a. Apply the following layer styles: Gradient overlay (fig. 12b, fig. 12c), Internal glow (fig. 12d), Inner shadow (fig. 12e). See the result in figure 12f.

Step 13. Draw the next shape (fig. 13a). Use the Inner Glow style (fig. 13b), you will have it (fig. 13c). Complete the hand (fig. 13d).
You can try experimenting with layer styles.

Step 14. Draw a shape similar to the eye as in Figure 14a. Add a Gradient overlay, style Angle (Corner) (fig. 14b, fig. 14c), style Stroke (fig. 14d). See Figure 14e.

Step 15. Create a new layer. Draw a spiral tool Pen in mode Paths (Contours). Choose a tool BrushTool(Brush), press F5 to activate the brush palette (Figure 15a). Choose round brush with hard edges and a diameter of 2px (Fig. 15b). Now rmb the contour and select Stroke path (Run the outline of the contour). Thus, you will have a stroke of the spiral (Fig. 15c). Mask the spiral in the places shown in the figure (fig. 15d).

Step 16. Choose a tool Dodge tool (Clarifier) ​​mode Shadow (Shadows). Walk in the places indicated in the figure (fig. 16a). Well, with the hand finished. Layers can be grouped. Duplicate the group, flip horizontally and place the second hand in place (fig. 16b).

Step 17. It’s time to add a few details to the steel case of the robot. The head, neck, body and skirt are made of metal plates, welded and riveted together.
Choose a tool LineTool (Line), draw a central gray vertical line along the body (fig. 17a). Call brush palette (F5) and install Spacing (Intervals) 600%. See the drawing (fig. 17b).

Holding the key Shift, draw points along the center line of the body (fig. 17c). Add a Drop shadow (Shadow) white (Fig. 17d). Duplicate the layer and place it on the other side of the center line (fig. 17e).

Step 18. Add a few more points along the body (fig. 18a), and also place them on the head and on the neck too (fig. 18b).
We will not add points to the skirt, but add a few horizontal lines. The shadow will also be white (Fig. 18c). Via layer masks hide unnecessary areas (fig. 18d, fig. 18e).

Step 19. Now create a highlight on the body of the robot. Draw a white ellipse in the upper part of the body (fig. 19a) and set Blend mode layers on Screen (Lightening), transparency 35%. Via layer masks hide unnecessary areas (fig. 19b).

Step 20. In place of the ears, we will have antennas. To begin with, create a rectangular shape of a golden color (fig. 20a), apply a gradient overlay (fig. 20b, fig. 20c). It turns out like this (Fig. 20d).

Step 21 Apply another Inner shadow (fig. 21a) to get a shadow effect on the head (fig. 21b). Add a thin rectangle filled with the previous gradient (fig. 21c).

Step 22 Draw a yellow circle at the end of the rectangle (fig. 22a) and apply the Inner glow (fig. 22b, fig. 22c). Draw two flattened ellipses: one is dark brown, the other is light yellow (fig. 22d).

Step 23 Create a loop around the antenna. Draw a path (fig. 23a), circle in white and hide unnecessary lines on the mask (fig. 23b). Apply External Glow, install in it Linear dodge (Linear clarifier) ​​(Fig. 23c). It turns out like this (Fig. 23d). Now copy the antenna completely and place it in place of the second ear (Fig. 23e).

Step 24. To create a foot, draw a small rectangle with rounded corners (fig. 24a). Apply Gradient overlay (fig. 24b, fig. 24c), Internal glow (fig. 24d), Inner shadow (fig. 24e). Duplicate the layer several times to get the shape of the leg (fig. 24f).

Step 25. Draw a rectangular shape below, see the figure (fig. 25a). The foot itself is created using the tool Pen in mode Shape layer (Layer-figure) (Fig. 25b). Copy and paste the leg style in the layer with the feet. A little touch up style Inner shadow (fig. 25c): Contour (Contour) (fig. 25d). With the foot finished. Now group all the layers and create a second leg.

Step 26. The robot is ready, but in order to make it look more realistic, we will add textures.
Open texture Rusty #one and drag it into the document with the robot, change the size under the head (Fig. 26a). Set the Blending Mode to Soft light (Soft light) and hide by layer mask (fig. 26b).
For neck, use the texture Rusty # 2 (fig. 26c), install Blend mode layer on Overlay (Overlap) (fig. 26d).

Step 27. Place the texture on the case Rustytorso. Install Soft light (fig. 27a). Two textures Skirt #one and Skirt# 2 place on the skirt. On the legs and feet – texture Rusty #one (fig. 27b). The robot looks better already.

Step 28. Now let’s do the control panel. Draw an ellipse (fig. 28a), apply a Gradient Overlay, Angular style (fig. 28b). Also add Internal glow (fig. 28c) Inner shadow (fig. 28d), Shadow (fig. 28e).

Step 29. Add texture to the ellipse Copper (fig. 29a). Inside this ellipse, draw a smaller ellipse (fig. 29b) and apply the following styles (fig. 29c).

Step 30. The screen turned out to be empty (fig. 30a). Let’s at least create the inscription “hello” (hello) and place some icons (fig. 30b). Also add a glare on the glass in the form of a white crescent and set Blend mode layers on Lightening, 30% transparency (fig. 30c).

Step 31 This step is optional. Open image Brokenglass #one and go Select> Color Range (Highlight – Color range). Select Highlights (Sveta) (Fig. 31a). Press Ctrl + J and drag the layer onto the glass panel of the robot. Can add Inner shadow white (pic. 31b) and Shadow (fig. 31c) for the depth effect and, of course, add another image Broken glass # 2, having done the same way (fig. 31d).

Step 32 In the end it remains only to add the background and the floor at your discretion and the robot is ready.
