Hello, visitors of the site https://photobecket.com!
In this lesson, I will share with you how to use the Pen Tools. (PenTool), Ellipse (ElipseTool) and Layer Styles (LayerStyle) draw such a cute dragonfly!
This is a short matter, and the result is touching! Yes, and the possibility of tools once again only look at the benefits.
So, let’s begin!
You must create a new document (File–New) 900×900px, Rgb , 72dpi.
Then select the Ellipse tool. (ElipseTool).
On the properties panel of the tool, press the Forming Layer button (shape layer, ShapeLayer) and draw an oval, color # ef9507.
Make the contour inactive (click on an empty place in the Contour palette (Paths)). It will be more convenient if you rasterize this layer (Layer–Rasterize–Shape). Call it – Eye. Apply the following styles Layer Styles (LayerStyle):
It turns out this eye.
Further, with the help of the same Ellipse (ElipseTool) draw a smaller black circle, rasterize the layer (Layer–Rasterize–Shape). And on the same layer we set a white dot with a hard brush. This layer will be called – Pupil.
Apply Layer Styles (LayerStyle):
Copy the layers, put the new eye under the first one. Slightly reduce it in size. Move the pupil.
On a separate layer we draw with a soft white brush, glare.
Merge layers with eyes (Layer–MergeLayers).
Again choose Ellipse (ElipseTool) and draw a circle with color # 7ea6d8, placing it under Eyes.
Apply these Layer Styles settings (LayerStyle):
It turns out the little body of a dragonfly.
With Perot (Pen) draw a guide for the tail of the dragonfly. Choose a thin brush of any color on the Outlines panel (Paths) click the Add Stroke button (Strokepathwithbrush).
Choose the Ellipse tool (ElipseTool) and create a small oval of the same color # 7ea6d8. Crtl+T – turn it. This layer is placed under Body dragonflies.
We draw the tail of a dragonfly as follows (each oval is on a new layer):
For convenience, I numbered the layers.
The guide line can be hidden (remove the eye near the layer).
Apply layer styles to the very last big tail circle Taurus dragonflies:
Being on a layer Corpuscle, right click and in the drop-down menu select Copy Layer Style (CopyLayerStyle). Go to the layer with the largest circle, again click RMB and in the drop-down menu select Paste Layer Styles (PasteLayerStyle).
Next, apply these styles to each segment of the tail.
It is noticeable that on small details the shadows look coarse. To correct the situation, go to Styles on each layer (double click on the effect) and reduce gradually size of effects. I reduced the Inner Glow values (InnerGlow) : Size and Choke, and for stamping (BevelandEmboss): Size and Depth. Experiment!
But I don’t like such correct ovalchiki and I crushed each of them a little, using Deformation (Edit–Transform–Warp).
Now using the pen tool (Pen) draw a small dragonfly leg.
Create Selection – button Loadpathasaselectionon the Outlines panel (Paths) and fill with color # 154b8e on a new layer.
Copy the layer twice and move the legs to their place – Ctrl+T. You can deform them a little to your liking.
Three legs merge into one layer (Layer–MergeLayer) and copy it. New layer with legs move under Corpuscle.
I darkened the layers with the legs with the Dimmer tool (BurnTool).
Next, the Pen tool (Pen) draw a dragonfly wing.
Double click on the contour (in the Contours panel (Paths)) and save it under any name.
Translate the contour into the selection (see above) and fill the selection on the New layer with white color.
Fill (Fill) install 25%
Create a new layer – Stroke. Make the contour active. Wing and press the button on the Outlines panel (Paths) – Add a stroke (Strokepathwithbrush). Before this, you need to adjust the brush: color # 113f77, Stiffness (Hardness) –100%, the size –onepx
Copy layer with Wing and apply the Inner shadow (InnerShadow):
Merge layers: Stroke and layer Wing with effect (Layer–MergeLayer).
Choosing the Eraser tool (EraserTool) and wash on the upper and lower parts of the wing.
Now this effect is not noticeable, but when a picture is placed on a colored background, it will appear. By the way, it is possible and in the process of work to replace the background color – it will be more convenient.
Merge the wing layers (Layer merge layer). Copy and reduce in size.
Then, again we merge the layers with the wings and copy again.
Mirroring (Edit–FreeTransform–FlipHorizontal) and put it under the layer Body dragonflies. That’s what happened.
At the end, I added shadows to the segments of the tail and body; slightly zoomed in; put the dragonfly on a fun colorful background. Try it, maybe something needs to be changed or added at your discretion …
It turned out funny!
All success and good luck in the works!
