Draw a joystick in Photoshop

In this tutorial, I’ll show you how to draw a joystick.

Final image:

Step 1

Create a new document. (Ctrl + N) 800 x 600 pixels with any background color. Now select the tool Ellipse (Ellipse Tool) (U) in layer-shape mode and draw a medium-sized ellipse.

Without changing the tool, press and hold the + key on the keyboard to add another to the drawn figure. Now draw another ellipse, only a smaller one.

Now select the tool Rectangle (Rectangle Tool) (U), press the + key on the keyboard and draw a rectangle between two ellipses.

Next, a tool Ellipse (Ellipse Tool) (U) Draw two small circles inside the resulting joystick base.

Switch to the tool Rounded Rectangle (Rounded Rectangle Tool) (U) and draw a small rectangle.

Holding the key shift, rotate a layer with a small rectangle counterclockwise (Ctrl + T).

Duplicate the layer with a small rectangle (Ctrl + J) and rotate it as well as the first:

Step 2

Go to the layer with the base of the joystick and add layer styles to it:

Now add volume and depth to all elements on the joystick. Do this with layer styles:

Step 3

Now add a realistic shadow. Duplicate the joystick base layer (Ctrl + J) and delete layer styles from it (right-click on layer styles in the Layers palette and select Clear Layer Styles). Now add a style to this layer. Color overlay (color overlay). Use black here.

Now apply the filter Motion blur (Filter – Blur – Blur in motion) (Filter> Blur> Motion Blur) with the parameters shown in the screenshot:

Reduce the opacity of the shadow layer to approximately 30% and tool Move (move) (V) slide the shadow layer down and to the right:

Draw a small black rectangle at the top of the joystick:

Apply a layer style to the layer with this rectangle. Stamping (Bevel Emboss):

Tool Pen (Pen Tool) (P) Draw a wire coming out of this black rectangle.

After the curve is drawn, select the tool Brush (brush tool) (B) with hard edges, 1-2 pixels in size, switch to tool Pen (Pen Tool) (P), right-click on the document and select Outline the contour) (Stroke Path).

Now add the layer styles to the wire layer:

Step 4

Choose a tool Rounded Rectangle (Rounded Rectangle Tool) (U) with a radius of 15-20 pixels and draw a vertical rectangle:

Also, draw the keys on the joystick, holding down the + key on the keyboard while drawing. This time draw a horizontal rectangle.

Repeat this process to create other buttons, but they should be 5 pixels less.

Tool Rectangle (Rectangle Tool) (U) Draw lines on the buttons.

To the first shape we created, add layer styles:

Add these styles to the layer with small buttons:

In the final, add a layer style to the layers with lines on the buttons. Color overlay (color overlay) using color # 9e9fa3.

Step 5

Tool Ellipse (Ellipse Tool) (U) draw three ellipses on the circle on the right:

These ellipses need to add volume. Do this with layer styles:

Tool Ellipse (Ellipse Tool) (U) Draw 4 ellipses inside the previous ones, only smaller ones.

Add these styles to small ellipses:

Change layer styles Stroke (stroke) and Overlaygradient (gradient overlay) to create a reflection on the buttons:

On each button, add a shape-symbol, and then apply layer styles to each of these shapes:

Change the color of the reflection on the buttons.

Step 6

Now create the middle buttons. To do this, draw two rectangles with rounded corners inside those buttons that we turned counterclockwise.

Add layer styles to these buttons:

Choose a tool Text (Type Tool) (T) and write the text under these two rectangular buttons.

In the final, write the name of the joystick in its upper central part:
