Draw a printer in Photoshop

In this lesson, using Adobe Photoshop, you can draw a beautiful icon “Printer”. And also, learn how to work with shapes and layer styles.

Step 1

Open Photoshop and click Ctrl + N, to create a new document. Enter all the data shown in the figure below and click OK.

Turn on the grid display. To do this, go to View > Show > Mesh (View> Show> Grid). Then turn on the snap to grid by going to Browse> Snap To> Grid Lines (View> Snap To> Grid).

To begin with, we will use a grid in 5-pixel increments. To set the pitch of the grid lines, go to Editing> Settings> Guides, Grid, and Fragments (Edit> Preferences> Guides, Grid Slice). Set the values ​​as shown in the figure below. After setting the specified values, click OK.

To simplify further work, you should also have the dashboard open. Info (Window > Info (Window> Info)).

Step 2

Go to the toolbar and set the foreground color to # 00aeef. Activate the tool Rounded Rectangle (Rounded Rectangle Tool). Go to the top toolbar and set the radius to 5 pixels. On the new layer, draw a 120 by 40 pixel shape. Staying on the shape layer, switch to the tool. Rectangle (Rectangle Tool). In the tool settings, set “Subtract the figure area“(” Subtrac “). Draw a long narrow rectangle 120 x 10 pixels in size, in the upper part of the blue shape (as shown in Figure 2 to this step).

Double-click on the layer with the cropped rectangle, this will go to the settings Layer style (Layer Style). In this menu, check the boxes next to the functions Shadow (Drop Shadow), Inner shadow (Inner Shadow), Stamping (Bevel and Emboss) and Gradient overlay (Gradient Overlay). Then work with each of the functions individually. Settings you can find below.

Step 3

Set foreground color to # ffda71. Make sure the tool Rectangle The (Rectangle Tool) is still active. Draw a 120 x 35 pixel shape on the new layer and place it as shown in the first image below.

Then activate the tool Add anchor point (Add Anchor Point) and add two points on the side edges of the rectangle (in the figure, the points are marked in green).

Next, activate the tool Angle (Convert Point Tool) and click on each of the new anchor points (in order to remove the shoulder point).

Activate the tool Arrow (Direct Selection Tool). Using this tool, we will work with the top long side of the yellow rectangle. Select the left anchor point and drag it 10px. to the right. Then go to the right anchor point and drag it 10px. to the left.

Refer to the panel Layer style (Layer Style) and set the desired parameters for the yellow shape (values ​​are shown in the figures below).

Step 4

Set foreground color to # ff0000. Choose a tool Rectangle (Rectangle Tool), draw a shape measuring 120 x 25 pixels. and place it so that the bottom long side of the red rectangle is located at the junction of the two previous figures.

Fill a layer with a red rectangle; lower it to 0%, and then open the panel Layer style (Layer Style). Use the tab Inner shadow (Inner Shadow), in order to achieve the effect as in the example below.

Step 5

Set the foreground color to white. Activate the tool Rounded Rectangle(Rounded Rectangle Tool). Draw a figure of 80 x 20 pixels. and place it in the center of the top of the printer.

Activate the tool Rectangle (Rectangle Tool), shape drawing mode – Subtract the figure area (Subtrac). Standing on a layer with a new white shape, draw a rectangle measuring 80 x 5 pixels. at the top of the white figure.

Step 6

Standing on the same layer, change the drawing mode of the tool. Rectangle (Rectangle Tool) on Add to the shape area (Add). Draw another 80 x 10 pixel shape, as shown in the example below.

Switch to the tool Arrow ( Direct Selection Tool). Select the left, top anchor point and drag it to 5 peaks. Right, then select the right anchor point and drag it 5 pixels. to the left.

The form is ready. Now open the window Layer style (Layer Style) and enter the values ​​shown in the following figures.

Step 7

Set foreground color to # ff0000. Choose a tool Rectangle (Rectangle Tool) and draw an 80 x 15 pixel shape. Place it in the center on the top of the printer.

Fill a layer with a red rectangle; lower it to 0%, and then open the panel Layer style (Layer Style). Use the tab Inner shadow (Inner Shadow) to add a light strip on the top of the printer.

Step 8

Set foreground color to # 141414. Activate the tool Rounded Rectangle (Rounded Rectangle Tool). Draw a figure of 80 x 20 pixels. at the bottom of the printer.

Activate the tool Rectangle (Rectangle Tool), shape drawing mode – Subtract the figure area (Subtrac). Standing on a layer with a new black shape, draw a rectangle measuring 80 x 5 pixels. at the bottom, thus hiding the area that goes beyond the boundaries of the printer.

Open the window Layer style (Layer Style) and enter the values ​​shown below.

Step 9

Set foreground color to # 8dc63f. Activate the tool Rounded Rectangle (Rounded Rectangle Tool). Draw a 90 x 30 pixel shape. as in the picture below.

Now we will hide the central part of the figure. To do this, make sure that the tool is still active. Rounded Rectangle (Rounded Rectangle Tool), set the drawing mode to Subtract the figure area (Subtrac) and draw an 80 x 20 pixel shape.

Step 10

We will get rid of the excess area of ​​the green figure. To do this, standing on a layer with a green figure, activate the tool Rectangle (Rectangle Tool) mode Subtract the figure area (Subtrac) and draw a contour of 90 x 10 pixels.

Add to the resulting figure Layer style (Layer Style). Settings you can see below.

Step 11

Set foreground color to # fbaf5d. Choose a tool Rectangle (Rectangle Tool) and draw a shape measuring 90 x 20 pixels .. This shape will serve as a printer shelf.

Create a perspective. Activate the tool Arrow (Direct Selection Tool). Select the left anchor point and drag it 5px. left, then go to the right anchor point and drag it 5 pixels. to the right.

Open the window Layer style (Layer Style) for the orange shape. Use the settings below.

Step 12

Using the same technique, draw a sheet of paper.

Set the foreground color to white. Activate the tool Rectangle (Rectangle Tool) and draw a quadrilateral with a size of 70 x 30 pixels.

Activate the tool Arrow (Direct Selection Tool). Drag the left and right anchor points by 5 pixels. horizontally, creating a trapezoidal shape.

Right-click on the orange shape layer. In the appeared submenu, find the function “Copy layer style“(Copy Layer Style ). Then go back to the white trapezoid layer. Right-click on this layer and in the submenu use the function “Paste style layer“(Paste Layer Style).

Double click on the white trapezoid layer to go to the panel Layer style (Layer Style). Adjust the tab Gradient overlay (Gradient Overlay) – change the color of the gradient. Set the color from dark gray to white. If necessary, lower the gradient opacity to 50%.

Step 13

Set foreground color to black. Choose a tool Rectangle (Rectangle Tool) and draw a shape measuring 80 x 20 pixels. Position the rectangle at the top of the printer.

Open the panel Layer style (Layer Style) (standing on a layer with a black figure). Enter the settings shown in the images below.

Set foreground color to # ffda71and draw a rectangular shape 70 x 25 pixels ..

Next, add Layer styles (Layer Style), which you see in the screenshots below.

Step 15

Set foreground color to # 3c3c3c. Activate the tool Rounded Rectangle (Rounded Rectangle Tool). Draw a small 15 x 15 pixel shape. Place this shape on the top right of the printer. Activate the tool Rectangle (Rectangle Tool) and set in the settings drawing mode Subtract the figure area (Subtrac). Draw a 5 x 5 pixel square to hide the protruding part.

Step 16

Open the window Layer style (Layer Style) for the vector shape we drew in the previous step and enter the settings shown in the following figures.

Step 17

To perform the next step, you need to change the grid step. To do this, go to Editing> Settings> Guides, Grid, and Fragments (Edit> Preferences> Guides, Grid Slice) and set the step to 1 pix.

Set the foreground color to white. Choose a tool Rounded Rectangle (Rounded Rectangle Tool). Create a 6 x 3 pixel element and place it as shown in the first image below.

Open the settings window Layer style (Layer Style), for this rectangle with rounded corners, and enter the values ​​shown in the pictures.

Step 18

Set foreground color to # fbaf5d. Choose a tool Rectangle (Rectangle Tool) and draw a shape measuring 100 x 3 pixels. Position the rectangle as shown.

Open the panel Layer style (Layer Style). Enter the settings as in step number 11.

Step 19

Now we can return the grid step is 5 pixels. (Editing> Settings> Guides, Grid, and Fragments (Edit> Preferences> Guides, Grid Slice)).

Set foreground color to # ffda71. Activate the tool Rounded Rectangle (Rounded Rectangle Tool). Draw a long rectangle of 130 x 10 pixels .. Then switch to the tool Rectangle (Rectangle Tool). Set the drawing mode Add to the shape area (Add). Add a rectangle with 100 x 25 pixels to the existing shape (see the image below).

Step 20

Standing on a layer with a new figure, activate the tool Arrow (Direct Selection Tool).

Select the left anchor point and drag it 5px. left, then select the right anchor point and drag it 5 pixels. to the right.

Standing on a layer with a new figure, press the key combination Shift + CTRL + [, This will allow you to quickly move the selected layer to the bottom of the layers panel. Then change the fill color of the shape to black.

Step 21

Standing on the layer with the figure drawn in the last step, right-click on the layer. In the submenu, find the item Group into a new smart object (Convert to Smart Object). Lower layer opacity to 15%. Now go to Filter> Blur> Gaussian Blur (Filter> Blur> Gaussian Blur). Set the blur radius to 5 pixels and click OK.

Step 22

Set the foreground color to black. Activate the tool Ellipse (Ellipse Tool). Draw an oval with radii of 170 pixels. and 20 pixels. Place the ellipse at the base of the printer as shown in the image.

Convert the layer with this shape into a smart object (Convert to Smart Object), and set the opacity (opacity) of the layer to 7%. Then again refer to Filter> Blur> Gaussian Blur (Filter> Blur> Gaussian Blur), set the blur radius to 5 pixels ..

All is ready!
