In this tutorial, I will show you how to create a realistic FujiX100 camera in Photoshop.
Additional materials:
Step 1
Create a new document in Photoshop with a size of 1024×1024 pixels.
Step 2
Then insert the image of the camera. Via Pen tool(Feather) (P) draw the lower metal part.
Step 3
We load the selection of the metal layer by holding down the Cmd / Ctrl key and clicking on the thumbnail of the vector mask on the layers panel. Add new adjustment layer gradient (Gradient). Then convert this layer to smart object and add some noise using the filter Filter – Noise – Add Noise (Filter – Noise – Add noise).
Step 4
Add Color adjustment layer (Color) and choose black. Then using Brush tool(Brush) (B) With a soft brush, paint on a layer mask to create a shadow on the metal, as shown below. To achieve the best result, reduce the opacity of the brush. After that we convert the layer to clipping mask (Ctrl + Alt + G).
Step 5
In the same way we create the upper metal part (Steps 3-4), but this time we do not use the Gradient adjustment layer (Grazient). Instead, add a Color adjustment layer.
Step 6
To create highlights on the top, we take Pen tool (Feather) (P) and draw a white base. Convert it to a smart object and apply a filter. Filter – Blur – Gaussian Blur (Filter – Blur – Gaussian Blur). You must repeat these steps for each flare. Then reduce their opacity. As you can see, on the left side I added a light shadow above the highlight using the layer style Drop shadow (Shadow).
Step 7
The viewfinder consists of two main parts. We will start with the outside. Via RoundedRectangle tool (Rounded rectangle) (U) draw a dark gray rectangle and apply layer styles to it.
Step 8
Now with the help Rectangle tool(Rectangle) (U) draw a dark gray rectangle and apply a layer style to it Inner shadow (Inner shadow) low Distance (Distance). Duplicate the rectangle and increase the level for the copy. Distance (Distance). For comparison, use the screenshot below.
Step 9
Via Ellipse tool(Ellipse) draw a dark blue shape and apply layer styles to it.
Step 10
Create a new shape with the same tool, but use white color, then add layer styles.
Step 11
Via Gradient tool(Gradient) (G) Create a radial gradient fill to create a glass effect. Use the layer mask to hide the extra glare.
Step 12
Create a new rectangle and apply a layer style to it. Then reduce it Fill (Fill) to 0%.
Step 13
As before, we use Color adjustment layer (Color) to create a glare on the metal, as shown below. Then we create a gray rectangle and apply a filter to it. Gaussian blur (Gaussian blur). Place it under the viewfinder and set the blending mode to Overlay (Overlap) and opacity by 33%.
Step 14
The viewfinder is ready. We now turn to flash. Draw the desired shape and add layer styles.
Step 15
Repeat step, but this time use a different layer style. You can also add an adjustment layer. Brightness / Contrast (Brightness / Contrast) to brighten the flash a bit.
Step 16
Via Rounded rectangle tool(Rounded rectangle) (U) draw the base of the button. Then add Gradient adjustment layer (Gradient). Now drag the mask of the vector layer onto the gradient layer. Add a light inner shadow using the layer style Inner shadow (Inner shadow).
Step 17
Double duplicate the previous layer. Then reduce the size of the copies using Cmd / Ctrl + T. Arrange them as shown below.
Step 18
Via Rounded rectangle tool(Rounded Rectangle) (U) draw the base for the pen and apply the layer styles.
Step 19
Via Rectangle tool(Rectangle) (U) draw a small foot for a pen. Then add a layer style. Duplicate the created handle.
Step 20
Via Rounded rectangle tool(Rounded rectangle) (U) Create a small shape between the viewfinder and the flash, then apply the layer styles.
Step 21
Draw two circles with Ellipse tool(Ellipse) (U), the first one in black and the second one in dark yellow. Then add layer styles.
Step 22
Via Ellipse tool(Ellipse) (U) draw a new circle using the color of the metal. Then add a layer style. Next, duplicate the circle and reduce it with Cmd / Ctrl + T. Layer style Drop shadow (Shadow) is used only for the first circle.
Step 23
Now draw the last circle and add layer styles to create a metal effect.
Step 24
Via Pen tool(Pen) (p) Draw a shape as shown below. Add layer styles.
Step 25
Create a new rounded rectangle to add a small red mark. Apply a layer style to it.
Step 26
We draw the middle part of the camera in dark gray using Pen tool(Feather) (P). To create a skin texture, see this tutorial. As you may have noticed, I added another hole, a small black button and two small legs at the bottom of the camera.
Step 27
When finished with a texture, we can add an adjustment layer to change the brightness. Then apply layer styles to the middle part of the camera.
Step 28
Now create a lens. First draw a circle of metal color and apply the layer style.
Step 29
Draw a smaller circle and apply layer styles to it. Then select both layers on the layers panel and merge them into a smart object. Add some noise Filter – Noise – Add Noise (Filter – Noise – Add noise).
Step 30
Select a dark gray color and draw a circle as shown below. Apply layer styles.
Step 31
Now we can create three more new circles. Below you can see the layer style for the first one.
Step 32
Layer style for the second.
Step 33
And last.
Step 34
Create another circle and reduce its parameter. Fill (Fill) to 0%. Create a narrow stroke of dark green using the Stroke layer style. Then duplicate and transform the circle, as shown below.
Step 35
To create glass we repeat the same steps. Add a circle and apply layer styles.
Step 36
Add a small circle inside the previous one and apply layer styles to it.
Step 37
We draw a new circle more than the previous one and apply layer styles to add reflection. Try changing the position of the gradient without closing the window. Layer style (Layer style), click on the working canvas.
Step 38
Add text inside the lens. To achieve a curved style, create a circular contour with Ellipse tool(Ellipse) (U) in mode Path (Circuit). Then activate Text tool
(Text) (T), click on the contour and write.
Step 39
Draw a new black part with the Pen Tool (Pen) (P) and apply layer styles to it.
Step 40
Add a black rectangle and apply layer styles.
Step 41
Draw a new shape as shown below and apply layer styles.
Step 42
In the last step, we will add two small metal parts using Pen tool (Feather) (P).
FujiX100 camera is ready! I added a simple background. Of course, you can come up with another icon design. Last tip: you can improve the result using the filter Unsharp mask (Contour sharpness). Hope you enjoyed it!
