In this Photoshop tutorial, you will learn how to create a Christmas tree with glowing Christmas lights.
Do you feel the festive mood? Christmas is near, and we have an excellent opportunity to create something beautiful, such as a greeting card or a New Year’s screen saver on a website, honing our graphic designer skills. In this lesson, you can create a Christmas tree design in a blink of an eye!
The final result:
Create a new document 600 x 500 px, then go View – Show – Grid (View> Show> Grid) to activate the grid, and then go Preview – Snap To – Grid Lines (View> Snap To> Grid) to snap to the grid. Press the keys (Ctrl + K) to bring up the window Installations (Preferences), then select the setting Guides, mesh, etc. (Guides, Grid Slices) and set the settings that are shown in the screenshot below. During the whole lesson, I will turn off the grid visibility (Ctrl + ‘) so that you can see better. The grid will facilitate your work when creating shapes.
In the layers palette, select the layer with Background (Background layer). Next, click on the lock icon to unlock the layer.
Go to the toolbar, set the foreground color to # 1F1D1E. Choose a tool Fill (Paint Bucket Tool) to fill the canvas with the selected shade.
Choose a tool Pen (Pen Tool), in the settings of this tool, set the mode to Contours (Path). Draw the shape of a Christmas tree.
Choose a tool Angle (Convert Point Tool), focus on the reference points, click on the selected point, and then drag it, as shown in the screenshots below.
Set foreground color to # 477216, select tool Brush ( Brush Tool), install the size (Size) brush 5 px, rigidity (Hardness) brushes at 100%.
In the layers panel create a new layer. Now, go to bookmark Contours (Paths) if the bookmark is not active, then go Window – Outlines (Window> Paths), click on the icon in the upper right corner and in the menu that appears, select the option Outline the contour (Stroke Path), set the brush as a stroke tool, and then press the ‘Enter’ key.
Apply layer styles to the layer we created in the previous step. Set the settings for the layer styles shown in the screenshots below.
Change the foreground color to # 5c5996, select the tool Rounded Rectangle (Rounded Rectangle Tool), click on the image so that the tool settings window appears. Rounded Rectangle (Create Rounded Rectangle).
Apply the settings shown in the screenshot below, and then click the OK button.
For the created shape, apply layer styles. Set the settings for the layer styles shown in the screenshots below.
Set the foreground color to # E12F2F, select the tool Ellipse (Ellipse Tool). Create a 4×14 px Vector Shape.
Make sure you are still on the layer with the drawn vector shape. Arrange the shape as shown in the second screenshot below.
Apply layer styles to the created shape we created in the previous step. Set the settings for the layer styles shown in the screenshots below.
To change the color of the Christmas lights, simply click on the thumbnail of the red figure layer and in the color picker window specify the colors that are shown in the screenshot below.
Now just duplicate the Christmas lights (Ctrl + J). Place the lights along the Christmas tree contour, as shown in the screenshot below.
Choose a tool Horizontal text (Horizontal Type Tool), install the font Mystery Quest.
Add text Merry Christmas (Merry Christmas), font size 60 px, Colour (Color) font #FFFFFF.
For a text layer, apply layer styles. Set the settings for the layer styles shown in the screenshots below.
