We draw a funny little tiger in Photoshop

In this tutorial, you will learn how to create pseudo vector wallpaper for your desktop. This lesson will be very useful for novice users of Photoshop. First, we will create the basis for our composition, and then we will draw a cub and other elements.

Final result

Step 1

Create a new document 1900? 1200, the background color is white. Choose a tool Gradient (Gradient Tool (G), apply a gradient on our working paper, as shown in the screenshot below.

Step 2

Next, we will draw a glade, for this, create a new layer. Choose a tool Oval area (Elliptical Marquee Tool) to create an active selection, as in the screenshot below. Fill the created active selection Linear gradient (linear gradient), gradient colors # 81ec00 and # 41bf01.

Step 3

Without removing the active selection, apply layer styles. Inner shadow (Inner Shadow) to the layer with the glade.

Step 4

Do not cancel active selection for now. Create a new layer below the glade layer, fill this layer with white color. Now, cancel the active selection, let’s go Selection – Deselect Selection (Select> Deselect (Ctrl + D) and then apply the filter Gaussian blur (Gaussian Blur), for this we go Filter – Blur – Gaussian Blur (Filter> Blur> Gaussian Blur), apply the following values:

Reduce the opacity of the white fill layer to 53%. The result should be as in the screenshot below:

Step 5

Next, let’s create the clouds. Create a new layer on top of all other layers. Choose a tool Oval area (Elliptical Marquee Tool). Using this tool, create a round selection, fill the selection with white color.

Step 6

Cancel active selection (Ctrl + D). Double-duplicate the layer with the white circle (Ctrl + J), and then shift the duplicate layers, as shown in the screenshot below. Go to the duplicate layer with the white circle, which is located on the right, and then with the tool Free Transformation (Free Transform), reduce the size of the circle, for this we go Editing – Free Transformation (Edit> Free Transform).

Step 7

Merge all three layers with white circles into one layer, and then adjust the bottom of the clouds. Using tool Pen (Pen Tool), create the same shape as in the screenshot below. If you want, then you can use another tool, for example, Lasso (Lasso Tool), but in this case, I preferred to use Pen (Pen Tool).

Step 8

Go to bookmark Contours (Paths) to load the active selection of our contour (if this tab is not visible in the layers palette, then go Window – Outlines (Windows> Paths) To create an active outline selection, click the button on the bottom toolbar. Load contour as selection (Load Path as a Selection (or you can load the selection differently, hold down (Ctrl) + click on the thumbnail of the layer with the contour, while being in the Paths tab)). Go back to the tab Layers (layers), then, perform an inversion (Ctrl + Shift + I) or go Selection – Inversion (Select> Inverse) and press the (Delete) key to delete the selected area.

Step 9

Finally, load the active selection around the cloud image, for this we go Selection – Load Selection (Select> Load Selection). Fill the selected area Linear gradient (linear gradient), gradient colors # e7f6fd, # b5e4fd.

Step 10

Cancel active selection (Ctrl + D). Next, add the layer styles to the cloud layer. Inner shadow (Inner Shadow).

Step 11

So, we have one cloud ready, but we need even more. Duplicate the cloud layer several times (Ctrl + J), move the duplicate layers to the left as well as to the right. Some clouds reflect horizontally, let’s go Editing – Transformation – Flip Horizontal (Edit> Transform> Flip Horizontal), and also apply Free Transform, let’s go Editing – Free Transformation (Edit> Free Transform) to resize individual clouds.

Step 12

Next, we need to create flowers. Choose a tool Oval area (Elliptical Marquee Tool), and then using this tool, create an oval selection, fill the selected area with a gradient. This will be one of the petals of our flower.

Step 13

Cancel active selection (Ctrl + D). Apply layer styles Shadow (Drop Shadow) to a layer with a petal.

Step 14

Duplicate the petal layer several times (Ctrl + J). Next, apply a transformation to duplicate layers to rotate each petal and arrange them in the order they are located in the screenshot below. So, we created petals for our flower.

Step 15

Next, we need to create a core for our flower. Create a new layer and then use the tool Oval area (Ellipse Tool), create a circle shape, set the foreground color to the color shade # ffa200. Next, apply the layer styles to the created shape. Shadow (Drop Shadow) and Internal glow (Inner Glow).

Step 16

Create a new layer, then we will create a stalk and leaves for our chamomile. Set the foreground color to # 9cfe15. Choose a tool Pen (Pen Tool). Use the same actions that you used to create the cloud (Load the outline as a selection. (Load Path as selection), and then fill the selected area with foreground color).

Step 17

Add more daisies to our scene, scatter them all over the picture to create the feeling that the daisies are off the ground.

Step 18

Next, we will add grass to selected areas of our meadow. Choose a tool Pen (Pen Tool), using this tool, create the same shape as in the screenshot below:

Step 19

Create an active selection around the shape you drew through Load contours as a selection (Load Path as a Selection), or hold down (Ctrl) + click on the layer thumbnail in the tab Contours (Paths). Fill the selected area with a linear gradient from green (# 89f00b) to transparent, to do this, create a new layer and use the tool Gradient (Gradient Tool).

Step 20

Cancel the active selection (Ctrl + D), and then duplicate the layer with the drawn grass several times (Ctrl + J), scatter duplicate layers of grass across the meadow.

Step 21

And finally, the kitten, the last part of the composition that we need to create. Create a new layer, select the tool. Oval area (Elliptical Marque Tool) to create the same selection as in the screenshot below. Fill the selected area with the color shade # ffc000 (orange).

Step 22

Create a new layer, select the tool again. Oval area (Elliptical Marque Tool), paint the eye of the kitten, fill the selected area with white #ffffff.

Step 23

Apply layer styles to the current layer. Stroke (Stroke).

Step 24

Draw a small circle inside the painted eye. Fill this little circle with black.

Step 25

Duplicate the layer with the already drawn painted eye (Ctrl + J), and then move the duplicate layer a little to the left, and also turn the eye a little to the left, for this we go Editing – Transformation – Rotate (Edit> Transform> Rotate). So we created eyes.

Step 26

Now we need to add ears. Choose a tool Pen ( Pen Tool), then go to the layer with the orange circle, and then create a shape, as shown in the screenshot below. Create an active selection around the shape you drew through Download contours, as selected region (Load Path as a Selection), or hold down (Ctrl) + click on the layer thumbnail in the tab Contours(Paths). Create a new layer, fill the selected area with the color shade # ffc000.

Step 27

Duplicate the layer with the painted ear (Ctrl + J), then, being on the duplicate layer, go Editing – Transformation – Flip Horizontal (Edit> Transform> Flip Horizontal), move the duplicate layer with your ear to the left.

Step 28

Now, let’s focus on the kitten’s nose. Create a new layer. Create an oval selection with the tool Oval area (Elliptical Marquee Tool). Fill the selected area with black.

Step 29

On the same layer, create another oval selection. Fill the selected area with a gradient of white to transparent gradient colors. Thus, we have created a small highlight on the kitten’s nose.

Step 30

Cancel active selection (Ctrl + D). Next, correct the shape of the nose with the tool Pen (Pen Tool). Create the same shape as in the screenshot below.

Right-click on the created figure and in the window that appears, select the option To form a selected area (Make Selection). After that, press the (Delete) key to hide the selection. Next, cancel the active selection (Ctrl + D).

Step 31

Using tool Pen (Pen Tool), draw a mouth to the kitten. Right-click on the created figure and in the window that appears, select the option To form selected region(Make Selection). Fill the selected area with black # 000000.

Step 32

To complete the creation of the face of the kitten, apply a round hard black brush. Draw a few points of different diameters on the face of the kitten.

Step 33

We continue to work with the tool Pen (Pen Tool). Create a new layer to draw a black auricle, as in the screenshot below. Start by creating a shape, then convert the drawn shape into an active selection by clicking on the drawn shape and in the window that appears, choosing the option To form a selected area (Make Selection). Finally, fill the selected area with black (# 000000).

Step 34

Duplicate the layer with the drawn auricle (Ctrl + J), then, being on the duplicate layer, go Editing – Transformation – Flip Horizontal (Edit> Transform> Flip Horizontal), move the duplicate layer with the auricle to the left.

Step 35

Create a new layer and using Brushes (Brush Tool (hard round brush, brush size 10px, brush color black), draw an eyebrow while holding the (Shift) key so that the line is straight.

Step 36

Being on a layer with a painted eyebrow, we go Editing – Transformation – Deformation (Edit> Transform> Warp) to deform the line, as shown in the screenshot below.

Duplicate the eyebrow layer by placing a duplicate layer over the second eye.

Step 37

Next, we will draw the body of the kitten. Create a new layer. Using tool Rectangular area (Rectangular Marquee Tool), draw a rectangle, and then fill the selected area with an orange tint (# ffc000).

Step 38

Next, go Editing – Transformation – Distortion (Edit> Transform> Distort) to transform the body, as shown in the screenshot below.

Step 39

Next, go Editing – Transformation – Deformation (Edit> Transform> Warp) and once again transform the body of the kitten.

Step 40

Create a new layer. First we draw the front paws. Using tool Rectangular area (Rectangular Marquee Tool), create a rectangular selection to create the first front paw. Fill the selection with an orange tint (# ffc000). Next, go Editing – Transformation – Deformation (Edit> Transform> Warp), warp the paw, as shown in the screenshot below.

Step 41

Create a new layer. Using tool Oval area (Elliptical Marquee Tool), draw a paw. First draw only one finger. Fill the selected area with an orange tint.

Step 42

Next, duplicate the layer with the finger drawn, as well as rotate the duplicate layers to get extra fingers.

Step 43

Combine the layers with your fingers, as well as the layer with the front paw in a single layer. Duplicate the merged layer. Being on a duplicate layer, go Editing – Transformation – Flip Horizontal (Edit> Transform> Flip Horizontal). Move the duplicate paw layer to the right.

Step 44

Create a new layer. Using tool Oval area ( Elliptical Marquee Tool), first draw one hind paw. Fill the selected area with an orange tint.

Step 45

Duplicate the layer with the painted back paw, and then flip the duplicate layer horizontally, go Editing – Transformation – Flip Horizontal (Edit> Transform> Flip Horizontal). Move the duplicate layer to the right.

Step 46

Between the hind legs, draw a rectangle with the tool Rectangular area (Rectangular Marquee Tool), fill the selected area with black (# 000000).

Step 47

Create a new layer. Draw the tail with the tool Oval area (Elliptical Marquee Tool), and also apply the transformation to the drawn tail, let’s go Editing – Transformation – Deformation (Edit> Transform> Warp). Once you have completed the tail creation, merge all the layers related to the body of the kitten with the exception of the eyes of the kitten. Finally, create a new layer, add black stripes again with the tool Oval area (Elliptical Marquee Tool).

Step 48

Continue to draw black stripes. As soon as you draw all the stripes, create an active selection around the body image of the kitten (hold down (Ctrl) + click on the thumbnail of the kitten’s body layer to load the active selection), then invert the active selection (Shift + Ctrl + I) or go Selection – Inversion (Select> Inverse) and press the (Del) key to hide the selection area.

Step 49

Cancel active selection (Ctrl + D). Combine the layer with the body of the kitten and the layer with black stripes (do not forget that you should not merge the layer with the eyes of the kitten). On the merged layer, create a new layer, then load the active selection around the kitten’s image, and then go Selection – Modification – Expand (Select> Modify> Expand). We are going to expand the outline of the active selection by 3 px, fill color (# 000000) black.

Step 50

To finish the lesson, create a new layer below the kitten’s layer to add a shadow. Create an oval selection with the tool Oval area (Elliptical Marquee Tool).

Step 51

Fill the selected area with the color shade # 33b301. Cancel the active selection (Ctrl + D) and then apply the filter Gaussian blur (Gaussian Blur), for this we go Filter – Blur – Gaussian Blur (Filter> Blur> Gaussian Blur), apply the blur radius, which is shown in the screenshot below:

We have completed the lesson! We have created a wallpaper. I hope you enjoyed this tutorial.
