We draw an orange in Photoshop

In this tutorial, I want to share with you how to draw an orange texture. This is a basic procedure for achieving a realistic effect.
Note: This lesson can be performed using or without a tablet.

Materials for the lesson:

Result:

Step 1. Create a circle using the tool Ellipse (ellipse tool). Orange should not have a smooth round shape. Therefore, we must make it wrong. Add Anchor Points or Binding Nodes (Add anchor points) as on the figure, and make a circle of irregular shape.

Step 2. We paint and add shades.
Press Ctrl + Enter, the form will become a selection. Next, click Shift + F6 – add a shading radius of 1 pixel. Create a new layer, name it Orange, and fill the selection with some color. I used # da8711 as the base color of orange.

Make another layer and create clipping mask (clipping mask). On this layer we will draw shades of orange. I made shadows and lights on the same layer.
I used tough brush to create shades.
Opacity (opacity) brush 20 and pressing (flow) 60.

Step 3. Create a texture brush for orange.
1. I created this brush to make an orange texture in the figure. Upload an image.
And open it in Photoshop.
2 Editing> Define Brush (Edit> Define Brush Preset). Name the new brush Orange Brush.
3. Return to the orange drawing and select the brush you just created. She will be at the very end of the list.

Step 4. Open the brush settings menu. Use the same settings and save this brush.

Step 5. Use a hard round brush to blend the shades together. Set the brush opacity to about 10-20 and use the Alt key to select adjacent colors.

If the orange becomes too flat, use the brush you just created and add a few strokes, as in Figure 2.

Create a new layer, set it overlay mode Multiplication (Multiply). Select the Orange Brush, set its opacity to about 20 – 30 and use it. Hold key Alt and choose the darkest color (Figure 4). If the texture is too small, press Ctrl + T and resize it, experiment with it. Adding texture everywhere makes the orange flat. Therefore, select the tool Eraser(eraser tool) with an opacity of 20 and erase the edges.

Keep the texture most visible in the center. Also lower the opacity of the layer (Figure 5).

Step 6. Create a new layer, set it overlay mode Screen (Screen). Use an orange brush with an opacity of 20-30 and with a lighter color. Add it in the center of the orange, as shown.

Step 7. Follow the steps shown in the figure to create the remainder of the sepals.

Step 8. Now add the background. Trying different colors, do not forget that the intensity of the background must match the image in the foreground, to maintain the harmony of the entire image.

Step 9. I hope my lesson helped you. Tips and criticisms are always welcome … Thank you for your attention.
