Create a bright illustration of your photo in Photoshop

Today I will show you how to create a beautiful illustration in Photoshop using light effects. Let’s start. This is what should happen:

Materials for the lesson:

Create a new document (Ctrl +N) 1000×1000 pix (RGB), resolution 72 ppi. Fill the background Paint bucket tool (G) black on the new layer:

Find the photo that suits you. I took a photo of the model from the deviantart website. I want to thank the author of this photo.

We cut the girl in any way convenient for you and put a new layer in our work.

Create a new layer and take a soft round brush. Brush tool (AT)

Use this brush to paint a color “zone” around the girl. This layer is placed under the layer with the girl, and the colors themselves are shown in the screenshot.

On the new layer with the same brush we will draw two elongated lines. This layer is also placed under the layer with the girl.

Create a new layer. Take a soft round brush Brush tool (ATa) large diameter.

Make a print with this brush:

Now create another new layer. Take a white soft brush. We make several prints around the girl. Next tool Finger Smudge tool (R) make a blur as shown in the figure (this layer is placed under the layer with the girl).

Next we will work with the background. To do this, download Metal Mesh Patterns from the deviantart site. Thanks to the author.

Now we add the downloaded pattern in Photoshop (on the website there is a description of how to do this). Next, create a new layer, fill it with any color, fill (Fill) set 0%. Double click on this layer and set the following settings:

This layer is placed under the layer with the girl:

Create a new layer, place it under the layer with the girl and fill the background Paint bucket tool (G) this color # FFFFE0

Add a layer mask to this layer (Add layer mask) on the layers panel (Layers panel). Take a rigid round mechanical brush black color

On the mask draw this brush as shown below.

Fill (FillLayer set at 12%

Create a new layer and merge it with the previous one (Ctrl +E). Add a mask to this layer. (Add layer mask) on the layers panel (Layers panel) and take a soft brush black with opacity 20%.

Draw in the following places:

Create a new adjustment layer (Create new fill or adjustment layer) Curves (Curves), Set the settings as in the screenshot and place this layer below the layer with the girl:

It turns out the following:

Create a new layer, take the Rectangular Selection tool. Rectangular marquee tool (M), and this layer is placed under the layer with the girl:

Take a soft round brush in white with opacity (Opacity) 15%.

Using this brush, paint over the bottom of the selection.

Using Transformation Free transform (Ctrl + T), turn this shape:

Duplicate this one twice and again using the Transformation FreeTransform (Ctrl + T), place these figures like this:

Next we need to combine these 3 layers with lines into a group. To do this, select these three layers and drag them to the Folders icon in the Layers panel (Layers panel).
Add to group layer mask (Add layer mask) on the layers panel (Layers panel). Take a soft round brush black (Opacity 10%)

On this mask we draw along the lines:

It turns out the following:

On the new layer with a soft round brush with the colors that were mentioned earlier, we draw around the girl again. Opacity (Opacity) Layer 10% and place under the layer with the girl.

Blend mode set to chromaticity (Lighter Color)

Create a new layer and take a hard round brush of white color.

Use this brush to make smooth lines. To do this, hold the key SHIFT. With this action we will give the effect of scratches. We place this layer under the layer with the girl.

Double click on this layer. Add a layer style (Add a layer style) Shadow (Drop shadow)

Blend Mode Soft Light (Soft Light).

Now we draw several parallel lines with the same brush. This layer is placed under the layer with the girl.

Double click on this layer. Add a layer style (Add a layer style) Shadow (Drop shadow)

Blend Mode – Overlap (Overlay)

Apply a mask to this layer. (Add layer mask). Take soft brush black with opacity 20%

On this mask, draw so as to hide the edges of the lines like this:

Copy this layer, rotate it 90 degrees and, just like in the previous step, delete the excess

Create a new layer and fill it. Paint bucket tool (G) black color. Layer is placed under the layer with the girl.

Next, go to Filter> Render> Blick (Filter> Render> Lens Flare)

We get the following:

The overlay mode is set to Linear Clarifier (Linear Dodge)

Create a new adjustment layer (Create new fill or adjustment layer) Curves (Curves), Set the settings as in the screenshot for color correction:

This is what we have at the moment:

Create a clipping mask of this adjustment layer to the layer with the girl (clipping mask)

Here is the result for the present:

Now we will use the pen tool (Pen Tool (P)). AT set the settings Shape Layers and put the main color green.

Add a layer style to this shape. External glow (Outer Glow), reduce fill (Fill) to 44%.

This is what happens at the moment:

Duplicate this layer with the figure, change the color of the copy to white and add again External glow (Outer Glow):

After this action:

Add a layer mask to this layer. (Add layer mask), take the black soft round brush (Opacity 20%)

Use this brush to gently erase part of the line at the girl’s waist:

Create a new layer and soft black round brush darken the area of ​​the girl’s boots

Create a new layer again. Take a soft round brush and lower its Opacity to 20%. Do as shown in the screenshot below:

Blend mode change to lighten the basics (Color Dodge)

Now take a soft round brush to make rays of light.

Set the color of this brush to # 02FF02 and reduce the Opacity to 10%

Now, on the new layer that you will now create, use a soft round brush with opacity (Opacity) 10% to make three small “spots”

Create a new layer, take a soft round brush with opacity (Opacity) 10%

Use green and white to make this brush spark around the beam.

Now take the Pencil Pencil Tool (B), to draw two green lines

Here is what we get:

Add a mask to this layer. (Add layer mask), take a soft round brush in black

Paint over the line sections in such a way that the dotted lines are obtained.

Add a layer style (Add a layer style) Shadow (Drop Shadow)

Result at the moment:

Now we will create a new layer and on it we will make the end of the line with a soft round white brush:

Add a layer style (Add a layer style) External glow (OuterGlow)

It turns out the following:

Now using Rectangular Selection Rectangular marquee tool (M) create 4 parallel lines and fill Paint bucket tool (G) white

Using Transformation Free Transform (Ctrl + T) we turn these lines

Blend mode is changed to Overlap (Overlay)

Duplicate layer with lines using Transformation FreeTransform (Ctrl + T) move it as shown in the figure, reduce the fill (Fill) to 22%

Create a new adjustment layer (Create new fill or adjustment layer) Curves (Curves), set the settings as in the screenshot for color correction
