In this tutorial we will create a wooden mask with fiery eyes and light effects.

Lesson materials:
Step 1. Create a new document in Photoshop with a black background (size is not important). Open the photo of the girl in a separate document and tool Pen 
(Pen Tool) (P) in Paths mode, draw a face as shown below.
Right click on the canvas and select To form a selected area (Make Selection). In the window that appears, enter a feathering value – 1 pixel.
Copy the selection (Ctrl + C) and paste it into the first document (Ctrl + V). Use the Free Transform tool (Ctrl + T) to resize and center it on the canvas.
Choose a tool Eraser 
(Eraser Tool) (E) with soft edges and erase the right side of the face, as shown below.
Step 2. Above the face layer, create several adjustment layers with clipping masks (Ctrl + Alt + G). To get a list of adjustment layers, click on the black and white circle icon at the bottom of the layers palette.

with soft edges, draw a mask on the Levels adjustment layer as shown below.

Step 3. Open the tree bark image in a separate Photoshop document. Tool Rectangular area
(Rectangular Marquee Tool) (M) make a selection of the area of the bark.
Copy selection to our document and tool. Free transform (Ctrl + T) rotate it as shown below.
Right-click on the tree bark layer and select Create clipping mask (Create Clipping Mask). Set the Blend Mode to Overlap (Overlay).
Above the layer with bark, create three adjustment layers with clipping masks:

Go to the tree bark layer and tool Eraser (Eraser Tool) (E) erase the areas of the layer, as shown below, so that the skin becomes visible.

Step 4. In this step we will create a flame in the eyes. Open the flame image in a separate document and tool. Lasso 
(Lasso Tool) (L) Create the selection shown below.
Open the window Refine edge (Ctrl + Alt + R) and configure as shown below.
In mode Deformations (Edit> Transform> Warp) (Edit> Transform> Warp) change the shape of the flame and place it in the eye.
Set the blending mode for the fire layer to Hard light (Hard Light). Wipe the edges of the flame with a soft eraser.
Make a copy of the flame layer (Ctrl + J) and change its blending mode to Lightening (Screen), lower Opacity (Opacity) up to 50%.
Step 5. Make a selection of the flame as shown below.
Copy it to our main document. Resize, place under the eye and a soft eraser under the edges.
Use the cloud brushes (or cloud filter) to create the effect shown below. It should be on a new layer under the layer of the face.
Step 6. Now let’s create glowing hair. Create a new layer (Ctrl + Shift + N) and select the tool Brush (Brush Tool) (B) large in size with soft edges. In white paint draw a spot.
Go to menu Filter> Plastic (Filter> Liquify) and reshape the spot using the Forward Warp Tool (W).
Make several copies of the layer and place the hair on the person’s head.
Additionally, you can paint the canvas with abstract brushes.
You can change the color of the picture with the help of adjustment layers. They should be on top of all other layers and not have a clipping mask.
