Let’s start!

Step 1

Create a new document with a size of 1900 x 1200 px, resolution 72 ppi, RGB 8 bit. Then create a new layer (Ctrl + Shift + N). Choose a tool Gradient Tool (G) (Gradient) color from # 031625 to black, Radial style and draw gradient as shown below.

Step 2

Open the model image and move to the working document. Reduce the image (Ctrl + T) and position it as shown below.

Duplicate the layer (Ctrl + J) and apply the filter Filter> Blur> Motion Blur (Filter – Blur – Blur in motion).

Change the blending mode of this layer to Color dodge (Lightening the basics).

Add a correction layer to this layer. Layer> New Adjustment Layer> Hue / Saturation (Layer – New Adjustment Layer – Hue / Saturation) as a clipping mask. Install Saturation (Saturation) at -100.

Step 3

Duplicate the original layer with the model (Ctrl + J) and place it above all layers.

Apply a filter to this layer. Filter> Blur> Gaussian Blur (Filter – Blur – Gaussian Blur), radius 7 px.

Then change the blending mode to Overlay (Overlap).

Duplicate this layer (Ctrl + J) to get a glow effect.

Step 4

In the layers panel go to the original layer with the model and add a layer style Inner shadow (Inner shadow) with the settings shown below.

Above all layers create a new layer (Ctrl + Shift + N). Choose a tool Gradient Tool (G) (Gradient), Corner style. Draw a gradient from the hand of the model to one of the corners of the document.

Translator’s Note: the author on the screen shows the top settings window of the Gradient adjustment layer. Do not pay attention to it. Use the Gradient tool. In the gradient editor, select the gradient type Noise (Noise), Smoothness (Roughness) 100%, tick on Restrict colors (Restrict Colors) and Enable transparency (Add Transparency). As well as a button Another variant (Randomize) you can pick a gradient.

Step 5

Bleach gradient layer Image> Adjustments> Desaturate (Ctrl + Shift + U) (Image – Correction – Desaturate).

Then instrument Eraser tool (E) (Eraser), brush soft, erase at the edges of the gradient, as shown below.

Change the blending mode to Color dodge (Lightening the basics).

Step 6

Create a new layer (Ctrl + Shift + N) and place it in the group (Ctrl + G). Change the group’s blending mode to Color dodge (Lightening the basics). Then instrument Brush tool (B) (Brush), color white, hardness 0%, at the level of the hands, draw a spot. So we add a light effect.

Above the layer with the group, create a new layer (Ctrl + Shift + N), select the tool Brush tool (B) (Brush) with such parameters

  • Size (Size) – 100 – 300 px
  • Hardness (Stiffness) – 0%
  • Opacity (Opacity) – 70%
  • Flow (Push) – 60%
  • Colour – # 80b2d6

And paint over the canvas as shown in the image below.

Translator’s Note: in red, the author shows where to paint.

Step 7

Open the smoke texture and move to the working paper. Reduce the size (Ctrl + T), rotate and position it on the leg as shown below.

Change the blending mode to Color dodge (Lightening the basics).

Do the same with the nebula.

Change the blending mode to Color dodge (Lightening the basics).

For the nebula layer, add a correction layer. Layer> New Adjustment Layer> Hue / Saturation (Layer – New Adjustment Layer – Hue / Saturation) as a clipping mask. Install Saturation (Saturation) at -100.

Step 8

Open and move to the working document image with the second nebula. Change the blending mode to Color dodge (Brighten the base) and add an adjustment layer as for the layer with the first nebula as a clipping mask with the same settings.

Duplicate the gradient layer you created earlier twice and place the copies as shown below.

Translator’s Note: the author shows by arrows where to move the duplicates of the layer with the gradient.

Step 9

Open the particle texture and position it as shown below.

Duplicate the particle layer and place in the foot area. Tool Eraser tool (E) (Eraser) brush soft on the layers with particles, remove excess.

Step 10

Open and move the flare texture to work.

Change the blending mode to Screen (Screen)

Finally add a correction layer. Layer> New Adjustment Layer> Gradient Map (Layer – New Adjustment Layer – Gradient Map) color from # 094b39 to white.

Change the blending mode to Overlay (Overlap) and reduce Opacity (Opacity) up to 50%.
