In this lesson we will create an effect – the face dissolves into smoke.

Step 1 – Create the background:
Create a document of the size you need, here is 750 by 550 px. Using the linear gradient tool with colors # 2B2B2B and # 000000, stretch it, starting in the lower left corner.
Step 2 – Add Clouds:
Create a new layer on top of the background. Press the “D” button to set the colors to black and white.
Select Filter> Render (Render)> Clouds (Filter> Render> Clouds). Set the blending mode of this layer to clarification (Dodge). Using the tool eraser, remove some parts of the cloud, as shown in the image below.
Step 3 – Trimming the Model:
Tool select a model with a pen (or any other) and place on a layer with clouds, as shown in the figure.
Step 4 a – Creating smoke:
Duplicate our model on the new layer (Ctrl + J) and with the help of the transformation we draw the face a little to the right, as shown in the figure. Using a soft eraser, wipe clear lines on the right side of the model.
Step 4 b – Creating smoke:
Select Filter> distortion> waves (Filter> Distort> Wave).
The number of generators is set to 5.
Type – sinusoid, wavelength: min – 10, max – 120.
Amplitude: min – 5, max – 35.
Scale: horizontal – 100%, vertically – 100%. Undefined areas: repeat edge pixels.
Step 4 in – Creating Smoke:
Hide this layer (click on the eye on the layers panel) and create a new layer on top of it. Now with the “Smoke” brush with white color draw the smoke near the face, as shown in the figure.
Step 4g – Creating Smoke:
On the same layer we draw with other brushes with smoke. Draw closer to the skin to make it look more realistic.
Step 4d – Creating Smoke:
Pressing Ctrl, click the left mouse button on the layer with the smoke to load the selection.
Then go to the layer with the waves, make it visible
Click on the icon , to create a layer mask.
Step 5 a – Vanishing Model:
Create a new layer above the original model. And with a brush with smoke in white color cover the entire face of the model.
Step 5 b – Vanishing Model:
Pressing Ctrl, click the left mouse button on a new layer with smoke.
Go to the model layer and apply a layer mask. Black brush remove smoke from the face.
See as shown.
Step 6 – Apply External Glow:
Select the layer with the model, right-click on it and select “Blending Options”. Select the layer style External glow, color – white, set the size to 5.
Now a beautiful glow appeared around the face.
Step 7 – Color Adjustment:
In the layers menu, select a new adjustment layer. – Levels (levels); Enter the values 40, 0.75, 255.
Create another adjustment layer – Hue / saturation (Hue / saturation),
Color tone – 190;
Saturation – 25;
Brightness – 0.
Step 8 – Optional:
For greater mystery, you can paint her pupils white and add text.
