Make a poster from your photos in Photoshop

In this tutorial, I will tell you how to create a stunning poster with a radiant girl using brushes, retouching techniques, and a cloud filter.

Here are two versions of the final result:

Let’s start!

Materials for the lesson:

Step 1. Create a new document with a black background. Download the Rainbow Girl image in Photoshop and remove the excess part in a convenient way for you. Copy and paste the girl on our document.

Call this layer Girl.

Step 2. Let’s do face retouching. Look at the picture below, the arrows indicate the problem areas:

We will use tools to clean the skin. Spot healing brushTool (point healing brush) and Healing brush tool (Healing Brush) with the following settings:
Spot Healing Brush Toll

Healing Brush Tool (Healing Brush)

Work until the result satisfies you.
That’s what happened with me:

Step 3. Next, smooth the skin a little. To do this, duplicate the layer with the girl and apply Filter – Blur – Surface Blur (Filter – Blur – Blur on the surface) with the following parameters:

Since we only need to blur the skin, we will add a layer mask so that the rest of the image is untouched by the filter.

Lowering opacity (opacity) layer to around 50%.
Now our girlfriend looks much better:

Step 4. Add light effects. Create a new layer, name it. Shine and position above the layer Girl copy. Activate soft white brush and sketch the area as shown below:

Install Blending mode (Overlay options) of this layer on Overlay (Overlap) and lower the opacity (opacity) to 50%. Add two adjustment layers (make sure the parameter is Use Previous Layer to Create Clipping Mask (Use the previous layer to create a clipping mask) is active):
Layer – New Adjustment Layer – Curves (Layer – Fill New Layer – Curves)

Layer – New Adjustment Layer – Brightness and Contrast (Layer – New Fill Layer – Brightness and Contrast)

Here is what we get:

Step 5. Make a simple background brush. To do this, create a new document (here the size does not matter) and fill the background with black. Activate the tool Rectangle tool (Rectangle).

Create a new layer and draw a rectangular outline on it, click on it with the right mouse button and select Stroke path (Stroke), select the option Pencil (Pencil) (make sure that the resulting rectangle is 1 pixel wide and gray).

We get:

Further Image – Trim (Image – Trimming) and apply the following parameters:

You see that part of the image outside the rectangle has disappeared. Hide the background layer, next Edit – Define Brush Preset (Edit – Define a brush) and save the new brush.

Now she appeared on the panel:

Step 6. Work it on our image. Create a new layer, call it Rectangular brush and placed under the original layer with the girl. Before drawing, apply the following parameters for the brush:
Shape dynamics (Dynamics of the form)

Activate the option Smoothing (Smoothing).
Draw around the girl. For the best effect, constantly change the size of the brush.

Disconnecting Shape dynamics (Dynamics of the form), you can get the following result:

Step 7. Now we will add some cloudiness. Create a new layer, call it Clouds and placed above the layer with a rectangular brush. Using the tool Lasso Tool (Lasso) with 20px shading, draw selection and apply Filter – Render – Clouds (Filter – Rendering – Clouds). Change Blending mode (Overlay options) of this layer on Color Dodge (Lightening basics):

Duplicate the clouds layer and drag it down to add more light near the legs.

Duplicate this layer again several times and change Blending mode (Overlay settings) on Normal (Normal). On each duplicated layer, apply the key combination CTRL + T, Next, click the right mouse button and select Warp (Deformation). And so we deform each layer so that, as a result, our clouds follow the contour of the girl’s body.

And here is what we get:

Step 8. We are almost done! Now adjust the image a bit. Above the topmost layer add Layer – New Adjustment Layer – BlackWhite (Layer – New adjustment layer – Black and White) with the following parameters:

Change Blending mode (Overlay settings) on Overlay (Overlap) and apply a layer mask:

We get:

Duplicate this adjustment layer twice. Apply Layer – New Adjustment Layer – Vibrance (Layer – New Adjustment Layer – Vibration):

Create a new layer above the rest and change Blending mode (Overlay settings) on Color (Chromaticity). Take a big soft brush any color and add glow. We make it so that it turned out more spectacular, do not limit yourself to one color.

Step 9. It remains to add the final touch in the form of light rays. To do this, merge all the layers into one, duplicate the resulting and apply Filter – Blur – Motion Blur (Filter – Blur – Blur in motion):

Change Blending mode (Overlay options) of this layer on Screen (Lightening).
We do not need the whole picture to glow, so we add a layer mask and erase eraser where indicated in black in the image below:

To achieve the best effect, duplicate this layer several times and experiment with Blending mode (Overlay options). The result may surprise you!
Here’s what I got:

More (here I added some brushes):

Well, and this option from the translator:

It’s all! Good luck.
