In this tutorial, we will create a textured site layout using a relatively small number of images. It is easier than you think. You will quickly master this “science.” For intermediate users Photoshop the job will take less than an hour, and along the way you will learn some professional secrets. Let’s get started.
This is what we should have:
Materials for the lesson:
In this tutorial we use several ready-made images. Let’s start by creating a new document:
Now we need the texture of the tree, the link to which I gave above. Open up “texture-small.jpg and click Edit – Define Pattern (Editing – Define a pattern). Give the name of the texture, after which the texture can be closed.
Duplicate the background layer. Select it and click Layer – Layer Style – Pattern Overlay (Layer – Layer Style – Pattern Overlay). Use the texture we just created.
Using Rectangle Tool (Rectangle), create such multicolored rectangles along the texture boards.
Holding Ctrl, in turn, click on all layers with square shapes. Thus, we select them.
When all layers are selected, click Ctrl +E, to combine them into one. Change the blending mode to Color Dodge (lightening basics), and the meaning Opacity somewhere on 40–50%.
Now we need the second texture, the link to which I gave at the very beginning – the grunge texture, put a layer with it on top of the others, click File – Place (File – Post) and select the texture.
Make sure the layer is selected, and add some shadow with the following settings:
Use Rectangular Marquee Tool (Rectangular area), to create a selection, as in the illustration:
Now select the layer with the texture and click Ctrl +J, to copy the selection to a new layer. Select the new layer and rotate it 180 degrees, then put it on the upper part of the layout. Add the required text.
Change the layer text overlay to Color Burn.
Using the same technique, slice the footer and menu buttons. That’s what happened with me:
If you want to select a button (for example, for hover state), select the layer with this button and hold down Ctrl +U. Playing with the settings, you can achieve the desired result.
Create a white form on the right with the tool Rectangle tool (Rectangle).
Using the tool Line tool (Line), spill our shape. I used color # d3d1d2 for lines.
Select the layer with the lines and the layer with the form, then we will press Ctrl +E, to combine them. With the help of a small round elastic band, we slightly “perforate” our form until it takes on the appearance of a real piece of paper, torn from a notebook.
Add the following styles for the layer:
Add text. I used the font Myriad pro (you will find this font and on Windows 7 and on Vist ’e).
Now we will add the necessary image in the middle of the layout, as well as two arrows to the right of it. Arrows you can draw with the tool Custom shape tool (Arbitrary shape).
Now we will find similar images leaf and flower. Remove the background with a rubber band, or in any other way.
Place our leaflet in the lower right corner of our layout, as shown in the figure:
Make a few duplicates of the leaflet and arrange them somehow like this:
And the last step – put on top of our flower.
And here is the final result!
