Create an interface for a twitter application in Photoshop – Part II

In this tutorial, we will create a stylish interface for a twitter application using layer styles and basic vector objects.

First part of the lesson

We continue!

Step 43 Add a vertical line with a width of 1 px and color # aab6c2 between the first and second icons. Apply Drop shadow (Shadow) to give the effect of letterpress. Add layer maskand hide the top and bottom of the line so that it smoothly transitions into the background.

Step 44. Activate Move Tool(Move) (V), hold down the Alt key and drag a line to duplicate it. Place it between the icons.

Step 45. Activate Rounded rectangle tool (Rounded rectangle) with a very large radius. Draw a search area after the icons. Add DropShadow (Shadow), Inner shadow (Inner shadow), Outer glow (External glow) and Stroke (Stroke).

Step 46 Inside the search area, combine the circles and the rounded rectangle to draw the search icon with the color # 8696a8.

Step 47. Create a list of tweets. For this we draw a rectangle with the color # e2e4e7. Add Inner glow (Internal glow) and Gradient overlay (Gradient overlap).

Step 48 Draw a line with a width of 1 px and color # a8b1ba, then add a letterpress effect.

Step 49 Draw a white rounded rectangle with a radius of 3 px. Add Gradient overlay (Gradient overlap) and Stroke (Stroke).

Step 50. Inside the rectangle, draw a smaller rounded rectangle with a radius of 1 px and color # 202020. Add Inner shadow (Inner Shadow) and Stroke (Stroke).

Step 51 Insert the avatar on a rounded rectangle. Hit CTRL + ALT + G to convert layer to clipping mask. Now the image does not go beyond the boundaries of the rectangle.

Step 52 We use Type tool (Text) (T) to write username, tweet content and time. Make sure you select the links.

Step 53 In the lower right corner of the area with tweet draw a circle with the color # aab7c3. Then draw an asterisk with Polygon tool (Polygon) (U) and set the mode to Subtract (Subtract). We will use this icon to mark your favorite tweets.

Step 54 In the same way we draw the “Answer” button.

Step 55 Select all the layers related to tweets and press CTRL + G to merge them all into one group. Duplicate the group. Edit avatar and text to create a new tweet.

Step 56 Duplicate the base rectangle of the interface and change its color to black. Add a rectangle in the upper part and set the mode to Intersect (Area of intersection of figures). Add Inner glow (Internal glow), Gradient overlay (Gradient overlap) and Stroke (Stroke).

Step 57 Add information about the API on the bottom panel. Create a letterpress effect using a layer style. Drop shadow (Shadow).

Step 58 Draw 12 rounded rectangles of different sizes. Edit their location and rotate as shown below. Add a letterpress effect.

Step 59. Scroll bar

Draw a long rounded rectangle of white color with a radius of 1 px. Arrange as shown below. Add a layer style Stroke (Stroke).

Step 60 Draw another rounded rectangle with the same radius as the previous one. Set the color to # 8b9eb3 and add layer styles Inner glow (Internal glow) and Stroke (Stroke).

Step 61. We are done with the main part of the interface. Next we will create a status window and a photo loading window. First you need to add more guide lines.

Step 62 Draw a status window. Let’s start by creating a rounded rectangle with a radius of 5 px and color # e2e4e7.

Step 63 Add a rectangular contour on the left side of the window. We press CTRL + T and rotate it 45 degrees. Make sure the outline mode is set to Add to shape (Add to the area of the figure). Adding Layer Styles Drop shadow (Shadow) and Stroke (Stroke).

Step 64. Duplicate the basic shape and change its color to black. At the top, add a rectangular contour and set its mode to Intersect (Area of intersection of figures). Add Inner glow (Internal glow), Gradient overlay (Gradient overlap) and Stroke (Stroke).

Step 65 Draw a small circle in the upper right corner of the title bar. Set the color to # 707070. Add two rounded rectangles in the center and set their modes to Subtract (Subtract). Rotate both rectangles 45 degrees. Such a button “Close” will be for the normal state.

Step 66 Duplicate the button and change its color to # a4a4a4. Such a button “Close” will be for the state when you hover.

Step 67 Duplicate the basic shape and change its color to black. Add a rectangular contour in the lower area and set its mode to Intersect (Area of intersection of figures). Add Inner glow (Internal glow), Gradient overlay (Gradient overlap) and Stroke (Stroke).

Step 68 Draw a blue rounded rectangle with a radius of 3 px in the right corner of the window. Add Inner glow (Internal glow), Gradient overlay (Gradient overlap) and Stroke (Stroke).

Step 69 Add the text “Post” on the button. Apply letterpress effect using layer style Drop shadow (Shadow).

Step 70. Duplicate the button and text. From the copy we will make a button for the state when the cursor is over. All you need to do is reduce the opacity of the layer style. Gradient overlay (Gradient overlap) up to 40%.

Step 71 I advise you to put each button in a separate group. Thanks to this structuring of the layers, we will not get entangled in them.

Step 72 Draw a symbol | which will be used to display the text. Add a symbol in the upper left corner.

Step 73. Repeat the previous steps to draw a photo loading window.

Step 74. In the center of the window draw a rounded rectangle with a radius of 3 px and color # d9dde1. Next, add a small rounded rectangular contour inside the previous figure. Set its mode to Subtract (Subtract).

Step 75 Add horizontal rectangles and set their modes to Subtract (Subtract). Select them all and click the buttons. Distribute Vertical Center (Alignment centers vertically) and Distribute horizontal center (Distribution of centers horizontally).

Step 76 Repeat the previous steps to add vertical rectangles.

Step 77 Add a letterpress effect.

Step 78 Draw a rounded rectangle in the center of the window with a radius of 3 px and color # cdd2d8. Add a rectangle inside and set the mode to Subtract (Subtract).

Step 79 Add a circle contour and draw a polygon using Pen tool(Feather) (P). Set the mode of both figures on Add to Path (Add to the contour area).

Step 80 Add Drop shadow (Shadow).

Step 81 Add a short instruction and apply the effect of letterpress to it.
