Canvas Texture

Step 1 – mp3

Create a new file with a size of 900×900 pixels and with a resolution of 72 DPI. Now create a new group and call it “Foundation”, inside the group create a new layer.

Step 2

Now, using Rounded rectangle tool (Rounded rectangle) (U) with a radius of 50 px and color # 363636, create a shape as shown below.

Step 3

Using Rectangular marquee tool(Rectangular selection) (M), create a selection on the rectangle. Make sure that it covers the shape as in the screenshot below. Go to the options panel under the layers and click on the button. Add layer mask (Add layer mask).

Step 4

Now apply some layer styles. Right click on the layer and select Blending options (Overlay settings): Outer Glow, Gradient Overlay, Pattern Overlay, Stroke.

You can use the same settings as mine, or experiment with others. The required texture can be downloaded from the link at the beginning of the lesson.

Step 5

Add effects. Create a new layer above the layer with a rectangle, click on it with the right mouse button and select Create Clipping Mask (Create clipping mask). Now fill in the blank layer in white using Paint bucket tool (Fill) (G). Thanks to the clipping mask, the color will act only inside the rectangle.

Then go Filter – Noise – Add Noise (Filter – Noise – Add Noise), set Amount to 400%, Distribution on Gaussian and activate Monochromatic. Thereafter Filter – Blur – Motion Blur (Filter – Blur – Blur in motion), set the Angle to 0 and Distance to 32 pixels.

Step 6

In this step, we will create a shadow. Create a new layer, click on it with the right mouse button and select Create Clipping Mask (Create clipping mask), then choose a color, I used dark gray # 363636.

Take Brush tool(Brush) (B), set the size to 180 pixels, Hardness (Hardness) to 0 and choose a brush Soft round pressure Opacity. Start drawing on both ends of the rectangle, then set the layer blending mode to the shadow on Multiply (Multiplication) and Opacity by 23%.

Step 7

Using Rounded rectangle tool (Rounded rectangle) (U), create a black rectangle with a radius of 50 pixels. Apply layer style Drop shadow (Shadow).

Step 8

Take Rectangle tool(Rectangle) (U) and create a new rectangle above the previous one. Change its color to # f24e47 and apply a layer style. Pattern overlay (Overlapping pattern) using pattern Club pattern from the archive, the link to which is at the beginning of the lesson. Apply the settings, right click on the layer and select Create Clipping Mask (Create clipping mask).

Step 9

From the right edge of the previous rectangle with Ellipse tool(Ellipse) (U) draw a circle, set Fill (Fill) layer at 0% and apply layer styles. The color used for the layer style Stroke (Stroke) – # e1ddde.

Step 10

Now we will make the buttons. We need three buttons. Create a new group and call it “Play”. We will work within this group. Using Ellipse tool(Ellipse) (U), create a small black circle. Apply layer styles and reduce Opacity (Opacity) layer up to 70%.

Use layer styles: Shadow, Stroke.

Step 11

Using Pen tool(Pen) (P), create a triangle above the circle, change its color to # f24e47, right-click on the layer and select Create Clipping Mask (Create clipping mask).

Step 12

Create another slightly smaller circle, place it in the center and apply the layer style. Gradient overlay (Gradient overlay).

Step 13

In this step we will add one effect, which I called the radial metallic effect. It is very simple. Create a new layer, fill it with any color, then go Filter – Noise – Add Noise (Filter – Noise – Add Noise) and set the Amount (Quantity) to 400%, Distribution (Distribution) on Gaussian (According to Gauss), activate Monochromatic (Monochrome).

Next, apply Filter – Blur – Radial Blur (Filter – Blur – Radial Blur) and set the Amount (Number) to 80, Blur Method (Method) to Spin (Ring), Quality (Quality) to Good (Good). Now reduce the Opacity of the layer to 12%, place it in the center of the button, right-click on the layer and select Create Clipping Mask (Create clipping mask). Call this layer “Metal Effect”.

Step 14

Using Pen tool(Pen) (P), create a black shape, as in the screenshot below. Now go Filter – Blur – Gaussian Blur (Filter – Blur – Gaussian Blur) and set the Radius (Radius) to 2 pixels, the Opacity (Opacity) of the layer is reduced to 12%. Click the right button on the layer and select Create Clipping Mask (Create clipping mask).

Step 15

Duplicate the last layer, increase Opacity (Opacity) to 100%, rotate it slightly (CTRL + T) and turn Image – Adjustments – Invert (Image – Correction – Invert). If necessary, create a clipping mask.

Step 16

Again take Pen tool (Feather) (P). Draw 3 triangles: two black and one white. Select three layers with triangles and merge them into one (CTRL + E). Do not forget to apply a clipping mask.

Step 17

Now we will create a symbol for the Play button. Using Pen tool (Pen) (P), draw a white triangle, as shown below, and apply layer styles. Now copy and paste the “Metal Effect” layer above the layer with the “reproduce” symbol and apply a clipping mask to it. That’s it, the button is ready.

Step 18

Now we will deal with the Next and Back buttons. Duplicate the group with the Play button and call the copy “Next”. Reduce it by 50% and delete the triangle with the “play” symbol. Twice we duplicate the triangle with the Play button, position them side by side, as shown below, and scale down (CTRL + T). Place it in the center and we have the Next button ready.

Duplicate the group with the Next button, select the layers with triangles, press Command + T or CTRL + T, change the width parameter to -100.00%, as shown in the screenshot below, place the characters in the center and we now have the Back button ready .

Step 19

Volume button. Duplicate the group “Next” or “Back”, call a copy of the “Volume”. Remove the triangles symbol, create a sound symbol with Pen tool (Pen) (P), as shown below, apply the effects from step 17. And the Volume button is ready.

Step 20

Artist Info Panel: using Rectangle tool(Rectangle) (U), create a rectangle under the panel with buttons, reduce the Fill of the layer to 12% and apply layer styles Stroke, Shadow.

Step 21

Create a black square with Rectangle tool(Rectangle) (U), this will be the area for the album cover. Now, using Horizontal type tool(Horizontal text) (T), write the text in any font. I like the Myriad Pro. First, write the name of the composition and apply layer styles to the text. Shadow Overlay Gradient. Repeat this step for the artist and album name, this time using a smaller font size, but using the same layer styles.

Step 22

Rating. Using tool Custom shape tool(Arbitrary figure) (U) create 4 stars with color # f24e47 and one black. Apply layer styles to them. Gradient Overlay, Shadow and our player is ready to go.

Step 23 – CD

Create a new group and call it “CD”. Using Ellipse tool(Ellipse) (U), create a circle slightly smaller than the size of the working document and change its color to # bcb4c3. Using Elliptical Marquee Tool (Oval selection) (M), create a small selection in the center of the previous circle, then go Select – Inverse (Selection – Inversion), then click on the button Add layer mask(Add layer mask) at the bottom of the layers panel.

Step 24

Create a new layer, take Brush tool(Brush) (B), set the size to 99, Hardness (Hardness) to 0 and choose a brush Soft Round Pressure Opacity. Start drawing using the colors shown in the screenshot below. Finish, install Opacity (Opacity) layer at 30% and transform it into a clipping mask.

Step 25

Apply the following layer styles to the circle Stroke, Gradient Overlay, Shadow.

Step 26

Create a new layer again and paint with the brush as shown below. Install Opacity (Opacity) layer at 60% and convert it to a clipping mask.

Step 27

Duplicate (CTRL + J) the circle and place it over the two previous clipping masks, reduce it by 2-4%. Apply layer style Gradient overlay (Gradient overlay).

Step 28

Add more effects. Create a new layer above the previous circle. We use large brushUse the color # 9a969d to draw a horizontal line, as shown below. Click Command / CTRL + T, then right-click around the circle and select Skew (Bevel). We overtighten the right upper knot with the SHIFT key held down until it connects to the central one.

Duplicate (CTRL + J) layer 3 times and place copies of the cross. Select all four layers, merge them together (CTRL + E) and convert the resulting layer into a clipping mask.

Step 29

On the new layer with colors # f4f4f5 and # e2e2e3 draw a highlight on the disk, as shown below.

Step 30

Radial blur effect. Create a new layer, fill it with any color, repeat step 13, move the result to the center of the disk and reduce the Opacity to 10%.

Step 31

Add a new layer, use Brush tool(Brush) (B) to paint the multicolored highlights on the disk, as shown below. Install Opacity (Opacity) layer at 15% and change the blending mode to Darker Color (Dark color).

Step 32

Repeat steps 28 and 29 and create more color highlights on the disk.

Step 33

The CD is almost ready.

Step 34

We use Rectangle tool(Rectangle) (U) and create several strips of different thickness, as shown below. Select all layers with stripes and merge them into one (CTRL + E). Click Command / CTRL + T, then right-click and select Skew (Bevel). Overtighten the two lower nodes in the center.

Move on Filter – Blur – Motion Blur (Filter – Blur – Blur in motion), set the Angle to 0 and Distance to 11. Move the lanes to the right side of the disk. Duplicate (CTRL + J) layer and apply layer style Color overlay (Overlapping color). Remember to convert both layers to clipping masks.

Step 35

Create a new circle in the center of the disk using Ellipse tool(Ellipse) (U), set the Fill to 0, and apply the Stroke layer style. Create another slightly smaller circle, move it to the center, reduce Fill to 0 and apply the Stroke layer style.

Add a new layer and use Ellipse tool(Ellipse) (U) to create a gray circle. Via Elliptical Marquee Tool (Oval selection) (M) create a selection inside the circle, then Select – Inverse (Selection – Invert) and add a layer mask. Reduce the Opacity of the layer to 45%.

Step 36

Create a new layer, take Brush tool(Brush) (B) is small and, using two different colors, we start to draw on the disk. Reduce the Opacity to 25% and convert the layer to a clipping mask. Create a new circle with color # 424143, take Elliptical Marquee Tool(Oval selection) (M) To create a selection that is slightly larger than the hole in the middle of the disk, add a layer mask and apply the gradient overlay layer styles, Inner Glow.

Step 37

Via Ellipse tool (Ellipse) (U) add a new circle slightly larger than the hole in the middle of the disk. Decrease Fill (Fill) up to 0 and Opacity (Opacity) up to 25%, apply layer styles external glow, Stroke. Add a new layer and using Ellipse tool (Ellipse) (U), draw another circle exactly the size of the hole in the disk. Decrease Fill (Fill) to 0 and apply the last layer style Inner Glow. Our disk is ready. We now turn to the vinyl record.

Step 38 – Vinyl Record

Create a new group and call it “Plate”. Create a black circle with Ellipse tool(Ellipse) (U). Take Elliptical Marquee Tool (Oval selection) (M) and create a selection in the center of the plate, use the layer mask to create a hole, then the styles of the Shadow layer, Overlay gradient, Stroke.

Step 39

Duplicate the circle and reduce its size by 2%. Then we create a new layer, fill it with black and apply the Add Noise and Radial Blur filters, place the resulting spiral in the center of the plate.

Step 40

Add a new layer, go to Filter – Render – Clouds (Filter – Rendering – Clouds), after that Filter – Blur – Radial Blur (Filter – Blur – Radial Blur) and set the Amount to 100, Blur Method (Method) to Zoom (Linear) and Quality (Quality)
on Best. Set the layer blending mode to Soft Light.

Using Brush tool(Brush) (B) white, draw a horizontal bar crossing the disc. Next, Command / CTRL + T, right-click and select Perspective (Perspective), move the upper left knot down until the diagonals intersect in the center. Set the layer blending mode to Soft light (Soft light).

Duplicate (CTRL + J) the white bar as many times as you need to achieve the desired result. I used three copies and changed the positions of each to create a reflection effect.

Step 41

Create a new circle at 5% less than the main. Decrease Fill (Fill) to 0 and apply the Stroke layer style. Duplicate (CTRL + J) a circle several times, gradually reducing the size of each copy.

Step 42

In this step we will work on the central part of the plate. Create a circle in the center with the color # ff0000, make it slightly larger than the hole. We use Elliptical Marquee Tool(Oval selection) (M) to create a small selection in the center, and apply a layer mask. Paste over the red circle texture, the link to which is located at the beginning of the lesson. Transform it into a clipping mask, set the layer blending mode to Multiply (Multiplication).

Step 43

Create a small circle exactly the size of the hole in the center of the plate, reduce Fill (Fill) to 0 and apply a layer style. Now create a circle slightly smaller than red, reduce Fill to 0 and apply the layer style.

Step 44

In this step we will add a special handle for playback. Create a new group. Using Ellipse tool(Ellipse) (U), draw a black circle, as shown below. Take Pen tool(Pen) (P) and on the tool parameter panel, select the mode Path (Circuit). Draw a shape as shown below, click on it with the right mouse button and select Make selection (Create selection), then click the button Add layer mask (Add layer mask).

Step 45

Add a new layer, use Brush tool(Brush) (B) white to draw a blurred spot on the circle, then convert the layer to a clipping mask and set the blending mode to Soft light (Soft light).

Now create another layer, fill it with any color, go Filter – Noise – Add Noise (Filter – Noise – Add Noise) and set the Amount (Quiche) to 400%, Distribution (Distribution) on Gaussian (By Gauss), activate Monochromatic (Monochrome). After that, change the blending mode to Color Dodge (Brighten the base), Opacity (Opacity) reduced to 15% and Fill (Fill) to 50%.

Step 46

Create a new circle, as shown below, fill it with color # 353535, add another layer above the previous one, take Brush tool(Brush) (B) and draw black strokes on the right side of the circle. Convert layer to clipping mask. Duplicate (CTRL + J) the circle and move it up a few pixels up and to the right, then apply the layer styles Embossing / bevel, Overlay gradient.

Step 47

Add a new layer, use Brush tool(Brush) (B) to draw a white dot in the upper left area. Transform the layer into a clipping mask and set the blending mode to Soft light (Soft light). Now duplicate the layer with the noise that we created in step 45, place it above the layer with the white dot and transform it into a clipping mask.

Step 48

Using Pen tool(Pen) (P), draw a strip, as shown below. Fill it with black and go Filter – Blur – Gaussian Blur (Filter – Blur – Gaussian Blur), set the Radius to 2.5 pixels. Again using Pen tool(Pen) (P) Create a strip with rounded edges. As shown below. Fill it with color # 464141 and apply the layer style Overlay Gradient.

Step 49

Create a white stripe with Pen tool (Feather) (P), but a bit shorter than the previous one, then go Filter – Blur – Gaussian Blur (Filter – Blur – Gaussian Blur) and set the Radius to 2.5 pixels.

At the end of the handle, create a small rectangle, apply a layer style to it. Gradient overlay (Gradient overlay). Now with the help Pen tool(Pen) (P) create a shape, as in the screenshot below, and fill it with black.

Create a new layer with a white brush and paint small strokes, reduce Opacity (Opacity) up to 10%. Create a second layer, with the same brush draw two strokes and reduce Opacity (Opacity) up to 15%. We transform both layers into clipping masks.

Step 50

Duplicate (CTRL + J) the shape created with the pen and move the copy up a few pixels. Apply a layer style. Duplicate (CTRL + J) the white bar we created at the beginning of step 49, place it as in the screenshot below. Now hold down the ALT key, use the left button to grab the vector mask of the shape, which we duplicated at the beginning of this step, and drag it onto the layer with the white stripe. As a result, the excess part of the strip was cut off.

Step 51

Create a new group, call it “Screws”. Inside the group using Ellipse tool(Ellipse) (U) create a small circle and apply layer styles to it. We use Rectangle tool(Rectangle) (U) to create a small black rectangle. Duplicate the group and move the duplicate down a bit to create a second screw. Use the layer gradient overlay and stroke styles.

Step 52 – Audio Cassette

Now we will start the last media carrier – an audio cassette. Using Rounded rectangle tool(Rounded rectangle) (U) with a radius of 10 pixels, Fill (Fill) 65% and color # 4e4e4e, create a rectangle, as shown below. We apply layer styles to it: External Glow, Gradient Overlay, Pattern Overlay, Stroke. The texture can be downloaded from the link at the beginning of the lesson.

Step 53

In this step, we will detail the cassette. Via Pen tool(Pen) (P) in color # 8c8c8c on the right side create a small rectangle, as shown below. Decrease Opacity (Opacity) up to 45%, duplicate (CTRL + J) layer and reflect it horizontally Edit – Transform – Flip Horizontal (Editing – Transformation – Flip Horizontally).

Again take Pen tool(Pen) (P) and create two shapes, as shown below. For them we use colors # 323232 and # 5b5b5b. Decrease Opacity (Opacity) of the second figure up to 80%. Now, using Ellipse tool (Ellipse) (U) and Rounded rectangle tool (Rounded rectangle) (U) create two circles and two white rectangles.

The last detail we add in this step is a small black rectangle created using Rectangle tool (Rectangle) (U). Reduce its Opacity to 75%.

Step 54

Using Ellipse tool(Ellipse) (U) and Rectangle tool(Rectangle) (U), add more small parts. Now take Pen tool (Pen) (P) and set its mode to Path (Circuit). Create a contour as shown below. Then take Brush tool(Brush) (B), set the size to 1 pixel, Hardness to 0 and color # 000000. Next, we return to the tool Pen tool(Pen) (P), right-click on the contour and select Stroke path (Outline stroke).

Step 55

Add screws. Create a new group and call it “Screw”. In the lower right corner draw a small black circle and set Opacistrongstrongty (Opacity) at 45%. On top of the previous one we are creating a new white circle and 20% less than the first. Reduce it Opacity (Opacity) up to 75%. We also apply layer styles to it.

Step 56

Using a small black brush, draw a few strokes in the bottom and top of the screw. Convert layer to clipping mask and reduce it. Opacity (Opacity) up to 75%. Now we activate the tool Horizontal type tool(Horizontal text) (T), select the Arial font, size 4.5 pt, and write the “+” symbol in the center of the screw. Apply layer style Inner Shadow. When finished, duplicate the group with the screw four times and place the copies on the cassette, as shown below.

Step 57

Add a new group and call it “Film”. Create a brown (# 343732) circle, then use Pen tool(Pen) (P) in Path mode (Contour), create in the center a contour of a figure in the form of a gear. Then go Select – Inverse (Selection – Invert) and create a layer mask by pressing the button Add layer mask(Add layer mask) at the bottom of the layers panel.

Create a layer and above the previous circle add a new white color, transform it into a clipping mask and reduce Opacity (Opacity) up to 55%. Using Pen tool(Feather) (P) in mode Path (Contour), create a selection, as shown below, then completely fill the area inside the selection with a black brush.

Step 58

Via Ellipse tool (Ellipse) (U) draw a new circle, but this time we use the color #aaaaaa. Using Elliptical Marquee Tool(Oval selection) (M), create a circular selection in the center and add a layer mask. Decrease Opacity (Opacity) layer up to 55%. Via Ellipse tool (Ellipse) (U) draw another circle, set it Opacity (Opacity) at 55% and apply a layer style Stroke (Stroke).

Step 59

Using Ellipse tool(Ellipse) (U) create a small circle with the color # 737373, then duplicate (CTRL + J) and place it in a circle, as shown below. Now take Pen tool(Pen) (P), set the mode to Shape layers (Shape layer), color on # 9a5f5f and create two shapes, as shown below. Now we are done with the film. Duplicate the “Film” group, rotate it (CTRL + T) and move it.

Step 60

Via Pen tool(Pen) (P) draw a rectangle, as in the screenshot below. Then using Rectangular marquee tool(Rectangular selection) (M), create a selection, invert it Select – Inverse (Selection – Invert) and apply a layer mask. Add layer styles. Next, create two rectangles with the colors #ffffff and # f24e47, both transform into clipping masks and apply the styles of the Emboss / Bevel, Stroke, Overlay Gradient layer.
