Green hat for Photoshop website

In this tutorial, you will learn how to create an illustration of a glowing earth light for a site header. You will need to get something like this.

Final image

Source materials:

  1. Texture
  2. Light bulb
  3. Earth 3D
  4. Lightning

First, fill the background layer with #ccea89.

Insert the light bulb image. Cut the glass part and paste it on a new layer.

Set the following layer parameters:

Duplicate the previous layer and set the layer parameters shown below.

Insert a file with a globe, separate the continents from the background, apply for them the overlay parameter Color overlay (Overlay color).

Duplicate the glass part again, install Opacity (Opacity) 100%, adjust image levels Image -> Adjustments -> Levels (Image -> Correction -> Levels).

Move the black and gray markers to the right, and the left marker slightly to the left.

Apply blend mode on this layer. Screen (Screen).

Duplicate the glass part last time, install Fill (Fill) 0%. Apply the overlay option Outer glow (External glow)

Now create and position the image with a zipper.

Apply blend mode Screen (Screen) or Linear dodge (Lightening the basics). Load the selection light bulb and cut the selection from the zipper layer.

Now create a shiny green hat.

The cap consists of two figures – rectangles.
Create a form “1” with Rounded rectangle tool (Rectangle with rounded corners) size 900 * 322, radius 8.

Make a form “2” using Rounded rectangle tool (Rectangle with rounded corners), height 90px.

To create a rounded corner between the “1” shape and the “2” shape, make a rounded area with Rounded rectangle tool (Rounded Rectangle), load the selection with Ctrl + Enter and cut a small area from the shape “2”. Repeat this operation for the second corner.

Selected area with rounded corners.

Drain the cap shapes. Apply the following layer styles: Inner shadow (Inner shadow), Gradient overlay (Gradient overlay).

# 699611 – # abe910

To create a shadow, load the selection for the cap shape, fill the new underlying layer with black. Apply filter Filter-> Blur-> Gaussian Blur (Filter – |> Blur -> Gaussian Blur) 2-3px. Set the blending mode Multiply (Multiplication).

Duplicate the shape of the caps. Drain with a blank layer. Increase the contrast. Filter-> Noise-> Add Noise (Filter -> Noise -> Add Noise)

Apply blend mode to a “noisy” layer. Lighten (Lightening the basics).

Download the shape selection caps. Create a new layer.

Edit-> Stroke (Edit -> Stroke). Create a stroke. Apply blend mode Soft light (Soft light) to this layer

To create lines, duplicate the header shape, set Opacity(Opacity) 0%.

Apply layer style Gradient overlay (Gradient overlay) gradient Transparent pastels (Transparent pastel)

Merge the layer with the lines with a blank layer. Load a selection light bulb and cut the selection from the layer with lines.

Place the glowing light bulb above the line layer.

Create a new rectangle (height 34px) at the top of the cap shape on the new layer.

Apply the following layer styles to the created form: Drop shadow (Shadow), Gradient overlay (Gradient overlay) Stroke (Stroke).

# 1e3a07 – # 637d4d

# ccea89

Create a new rectangle. Width (Width) 900px, Height (Height) 75px. Fill (Fill) 0%

Apply the following layer style: Gradient overlay (Gradient overlay). Gradient: # a4c855 – # ccea89

Create button names.

Apply the following layer styles for button names: Drop shadow (Shadow), Color overlay (Overlay color).

Settings for the second line of the button names

Create a form for the pressed button. Rectangle with rounded corners, size 228 * 85, rounding radius – 8px. Fill (Fill) 0%.

Apply the following layer styles: Gradient overlay (Gradient overlay) Stroke (Stroke).

Settings for the names of the pressed button:

Apply the following layer styles: Drop shadow (Shadow), Outer glow (External glow), Color overlay (Overlay color).

The same settings for the bottom line, but without the external glow. Use Line tool (Line) to create separate lines. Draw two lines, width 1px for each of them. Fill (Fill) 0%.

Overlay parameter Color overlay (Overlay color) for the first line.

Overlay parameter Color overlay (Overlay color) for the second line.

Use the same method to create the top single line.

Use image with sheet, overlay option Drop shadow (Shadow) and RSS icon to create an original RSS icon.

Apply the overlay option Gradient overlay (Gradient Overlay) for RSS Image

Enter the parameters for the site name:

Apply the following layer styles: Drop shadow (Shadow), Bevel / Emboss (Embossing / bevel), Gradient overlay (Gradient overlay).

To create a reflection, duplicate the layer with the name of the site, merge the copy with the empty layer, apply the transformation Flip vertical (Flip Vertically). Move it down a bit, add a layer mask and fill it with a linear black and white gradient in the marked area, as in the screenshot below.

And here is the result!
