Spectacular grunge background

In this lesson you will learn an interesting effect that you can use when creating a banner, blog, and also as a background.

So, let’s begin.

Materials for the lesson:

Step 1. First we need to download Dirty brushes.

Step 2. Create a new document. 500×500 pixels and fill the background with some dark color. I used dark green (# 63705A). You can use any, but for a better result, dark and gloomy color is more suitable.

Step 3. Create a new layer. Take Rectangle selection(Rectangular Marquee Tool) and in the middle of the image select the area, fill with color # E1E1D2.

Step 4. Now add noise: Filter – Noise – Add Noise (Filter – Noise – Add noise) and apply these settings.

Step 5. Choose a tool Dimmer (Burn tool), set the parameters as shown below:

Swipe the edge of the picture with a light fill and darken slightly. It is enough to walk once for the desired result.

Step 6. Double click on the layer to bring up the Layer Style palette and apply External glow (Outer glow) with these settings:

Step 7. It is time for the creative part. At this point, you will begin to add various scratches, scuffs and cracks to your paper.

To do this, select the tool “Eraser” (Erase tool), brush to use from the standard set Faux finish brush.

Now erase gently erase the corners. You do not need to drive a brush in the image, hold it in one position and click the mouse in the right place 1-2 times. So do with all angles.
The result should look like the one shown in the figure.

Step 8. Select tool again Dimmer(Burn tool) with a brush from the set you downloaded Dirty and lightly move on the surface

Change brushes and experiment until you are satisfied with the result.

Step 9. Next, create a new layer and press the key combination. Ctrl + Alt + g, so that the new layer depended on the previous one.
Choose a tool Cystss (Brush tool) with a brush set Dirty.

Primary color should be black. Click once on your paper.

Step 10. Change opacity (opacity) layer on thirty %.

Run these commands on your keyboard:
“Ctrl + j “ duplicate layer;
“Ctrl +I“Invert color to white
“Ctrl +Alt + g“Layer snapping
V»Move the layer slightly to the right.

Step 11. In this step, you will learn how to make faded spots.
Create a new layer and click Ctrl + Alt + g to snap a layer. Main color select # C30000. Use the brush from the set again. Dirty.

3-4 times click the mouse in the lower right corner of the paper.

Change blending option to Overlap (Overlay).


Repeat this process with color. # 134400 and # 8E7500.

Step 12. Choose a tool Finger(Smoodge tool) with these settings:

Slightly smear the three layers that you worked with in the previous step.
