We draw a cardboard tag in Photoshop

In this tutorial, we will create a photorealistic cardboard tag using the basic tools of Adobe Photoshop CS6.

Final result:

Step 1

Create a new document in Photoshop (Ctrl + N) with a size of 800×800 pixels.

Step 2

Choose a tool Pen (Pen Tool) (P) and draw the base for the tag with the color # c09d77.

Step 3

Add anchor points and round the right corners.

Step 4

Need to cut a hole. Create a new layer and tool Ellipse (Ellipse Tool) (U) Create a circle with the color # c09d77. The diameter of the circle – 44 pixels.

Step 5

Select both layers and go to the menu. Layer> Merge Shapes> Subtract Front Shape (Layer> Combine Shapes> Subtract Front Shape).

You must have a hole.

Step 6

Now we will create a cardboard texture. Highlight the shape of the tag (hold down Ctrl, click on the layer thumbnail), create a new layer (Ctrl + Shift + Alt + N) and fill the selection with color # c09d77. Apply to this layer noise filter (Filter> Noise> Add Noise) (Filter> Noise> Add Noise).

Step 7

Apply style to tag Casting a shadow (Drop Shadow) via the fx icon at the bottom of the layers panel.

Step 8

Choose a tool Rounded Rectangle(Rounded Rectangle Tool) (U). In the options bar, select the dotted stroke, turn off the fill, and set the stroke thickness to 1.24pt. The stroke color is # 362f2d. Create a rectangle on the tag, as shown in the screenshot.

Step 9

Apply style to dotted stroke. Casting a shadow (Drop Shadow).

Step 9

Choose a tool Ellipse (Ellipse Tool) (U), on the top panel, turn off the fill, turn on the stroke of 7.06pt in color with color # 76726f. Create a ring around the hole.

Step 10

Apply the following styles to the ring:

Stamping (Bevel Emboss):

Circuit (Contour):

Stroke (Stroke):

The result is a plastic ring.

Step 11

Tool Pen (Pen Tool) (P) Draw the rope with the color # 745029. Remove the fill and turn on a 2.99pt thick stroke.

Step 12

Apply the following styles to the rope:

Stamping (Bevel Emboss):

Texture (Texture):

Casting a shadow (Drop Shadow):


Step 13

Choose a tool Horizontal text (Horizontal Type Tool) (T), configure it as shown in the screenshot, and write the text on the tag with color # 222526. Write the middle line of the text in 40pt.

Step 14

Now we will create a barcode. Tool Rectangle (Rectangle Tool) (U) Create a vertical shape with the color #bdbfbe. On top of the black rectangle, create a gray, with no fill, but with a black stroke.

Step 15

Choose the font “Calibri” and write the numbers.

Step 16

Create a set of vertical rectangles of the same height with no black fill stroke. Place all rectangles in one group.

Step 17

In mode Free transform (Ctrl + T) rotate the barcode and place it in the previous rectangle.

Step 18

Place the barcode on the tag.

In conclusion, you can add some textural background.
