In this lesson we will create a fantastic scene: our picture will come to life
To work, we need several images:
Step 1. Create a new document, open the “wallpaper” image and drag it into our document.
name the layer “wallpaper”
make this image darker – apply layer styles Color overlay (Color Overlay) and Gradient overlay (Gradient Overlay) or you can apply adjustment layers. Brightness \ Contrast (brightness \ contrast) and others.
Step 2. Open the image “dirty paper” and transfer it to our document, name the layer “dirty paper”.
Step 3. Open the image “newspaper” and transfer to our document, name the layer “newspaper”. On the layers palette, place the “newspaper” layer under the “wallpaper” layer and the “dirty paper” layer under the “newspaper” layer.
Step 4. Let’s make wallpaper. Make the “wallpaper” layer active, add a layer mask, select the “Brush” (Brush Tool), color is black and erase some areas. Go to the “newspaper” layer, add a layer mask and also delete some areas.
Apply a layer style to the “wallpaper” layer. Shadow\ Drop Shadow.
Step 5. Open the image “old newspaper” and transfer to our document, name the layer “old newspaper”, add a layer mask and erase the excess.
Step 6. Create a new layer above all the others, select the tool Gradient (Gradient) and fill the layer with a radial gradient from black to transparent, change the blending mode for the layer to Multiplication (Multiply) and opacity (Opacity) 85%.
Step 7. Open the next image “frame”, transfer it to our document, we need only a frame, create a duplicate, turn off visibility for the original and remove the frame in any convenient way for you.
Apply layer style Internal glow\ Inner Glow.
Step 8. Duplicate the layer with the frame, delete the layer style and in the menu Filter \ Other \ Color Contrast.
Change the blending mode to Overlap (Overlay).
Step 9. Create a shadow from the frame. Load a selection layer with a frame (Ctrl + click on the layer thumbnail) and on the new layer fill the selection with black color. Place the layer with the shadow on the layers palette under the layers with the frame. Using the tool “Move” (Move Tool) move the shadow, transform (Ctrl +T ), install Walive (Fill) 0%.
Apply layer style Gradient overlay (Gradient Overlay).
Step 10. Repeat step 9 to create a tighter shadow.
and apply a layer style Gradient overlay (Gradient Overlay).
Step 11. To make the shadow not have a clear outline, for the layers with the shadow apply Filter \ Blur \ Gauss Blur (Gaussian blur) with a small radius. Click on the icon “Quick mask” (Quick Mask) and draw a gradient from black to white, linear, turn off the quick mask.
Apply Filter \ Blur \ Gauss Blur (Gaussian blur).
Step 12. Insert an image with a picture into our document, create a duplicate.
Step 13. Add a layer mask and remove the excess, create an effect as if the characters are leaving the picture.
Step 14. You can also cut out shapes and place them at your discretion – this is the most laborious part of the job.
Step 15. Paste the image with the clouds on a new layer.
Step 16. Increase the contrast in the menu Image \ Correction / Brightness \ Contrast.
Step 17. Click the tab Channels (Channels) and duplicate the contrast channel Green (green).
Step 18. Open team Levels (Levels) (Ctrl +L) and pull the sliders to the center – brighten the light areas and darken the dark.
It should be something like that.
Step 19. Download a copy of the green channel as a selection (Ctrl + click channel thumbnail), return to Rgb and go to the Layers tab.
Step 20. Add a layer mask and this will separate the clouds from the background.
You can add more clouds using the same path.
Step 21. Use the tool “Eraser” (Erase) with soft edges to erase the excess. To create a shadow from the clouds, merge all the layers with clouds, name the “clouds” and load the selection of this layer
Step 22. On the new layer fill the selection with black color, apply the transformation Distortion (Distort Transformation) and move the shadow slightly to the right and down. Apply Filter \ Blur \ Gauss Blur (Gaussian Blur Filter) radius 3-4 and lower the opacity for the layer. With the active selection of the shadow layer, load the selection of the “cloud” layer and click Ctrl +X – we will leave only the shadow
Step 23. Create a new layer below the clouds and people’s figures and fill it with a radial gradient from light yellow to transparent, change the blending mode for the layer to Soft light (Soft Light) and opacity (Opacity) 50%.
Step 24. Now create the falling snow. Choose a soft brush of small size, create a new layer
Settings for the brush (open the F5 brush palette)
Step 25. Add a few big dots on the new layer and apply a layer style. External glowe \ Outer Glow
Step 26. Merge all layers, create a duplicate and apply to the duplicate Image \ Correction \ Align Brightness (Image \ Adjustments \ Equalizer)
Step 27. Apply Filter \ Blur \ Gauss Blur (Gaussian Blur Filter), radius 2 px and change the blending mode (Blending Mode) for the layer to Multiplication (Multiply) and opacity (Opacity) 25%.
