To complete the lesson, the author used:

  1. Landscape (requiring payment)
  2. Sky
  3. The mountains
  4. Rock
  5. Balcony (conditionally free)
  6. Model
  7. Trees
  8. Birds (conditionally free)

Step 1

Create a new document in Photoshop (Ctrl + N) with the following parameters:

Step 2

Open a photo of the mountain landscape and instrument Rectangular area (Rectangular Marquee Tool) (M) select everything except the bushes below.

Transfer the selected part of the photo to the main document and change the form in the mode Free transform (Ctrl + T).

Add a mask to the terrain layer and use a soft brush to erase the top edge.

Step 3

Apply filter Gaussian blur (Filter> Blur> Gaussian Blur) (Filter> Blur> Gaussian Blur) with a value of 4 pixels.

Step 4

To darken the landscape, use Curves Corrective Layer (Curves).

On the adjustment layer mask with a soft brush, paint over the upper right corner.

Step 5

Paste the sky into our document and rotate the layer in mode Free transform (Ctrl + T).

Add a mask and erase the bottom edge.

Step 6

Apply filter Gaussian blur (Gaussian Blur) with a value of 2 pixels.

Step 7

Create Curves Correction Layer (Curves) for the sky to make it lighter.

Add a mask and use a soft brush with 10-15% opacity to reduce the brightness in the upper left corner.

Step 8

Open the picture of the mountains and separate the mountains from the sky. Transfer them to the main document and arrange as shown in the screenshot.

Step 9

Brighten the mountains with Curves Correction Layer (Curves).

On the mask of the adjustment layer, remove the light from the edges where it should not be.

Step 10

Create layer fill Color (Solid Color) to darken the edges.

Reduce the layer opacity to 20%. On the mask, use a soft brush to erase the color fill on the right side.

Step 11

Create a new layer in mode. Overlap (Overlay) with 50% gray.

Now we will work with tools. Clarifier ( Dodge Tool) (O) and Dimmer (Burn Tool) (O) to enhance the shadows and light on the mountain. In the tool settings, select the range Mid tones (MIdtones) and 15-20% exposure. The following shows how the mountain should look in normal blending mode and in Overlap (Overlay).

Step 12

Extract the rock into our document and position it at the right edge.

Step 13

Darken the rock with Curves Correction Layer (Curves).

Use a soft brush on the mask of the adjustment layer to traverse the edge of the rock.

Step 14

Create an adjustment layer for the rock Color balance (Color Balance).

Step 15

Open the photo of the balcony in Photoshop. Select part of the balcony and transfer it to the main document.

Step 16

Dim the balcony with Curves Correction Layer (Curves).

On the mask, remove the shadow from the following sections:

Step 17

Create one more Curves Correction Layer (Curves) for the balcony, but this time to lighten it. On the mask paint over the areas marked in the screenshot.

Step 18

Reduce the color saturation of the balcony with adjustment layer Hue / Saturation (Hue / Saturation).

On the mask paint over the balcony, as shown below. The brush opacity range is from 20% to 100%.

Step 19

Add a purple shade to the balcony with Photo Filter Correction Layer (Photo Filter).

Step 20

Some areas need to be improved by increasing the contrast. Make it a lightening and darkening tool.

Step 21

Extract the girl to our document.

Add a mask to the girl’s layer and use a hard brush to erase part of the dress.

Step 22

Create for a girl adjustment layerHue / Saturation (Hue / Saturation). On the mask paint over the right edge of the girl.

Step 23

Add a purple hue with Color Balance Correction Layer (Color Balance). Remove it from some sites.

Step 24

Brighten up the girl with Curves Correction Layer (Curves). Remove the light from the back of the girl, as she should not be much illuminated.

Step 25

Lighten the girl’s hair with gray fill and lightening tool.

Step 26

Insert two trees into our document and place them in the corners.

Step 27

Apply to trees Gaussian Blur filter (Filter> Blur> Gaussian Blur) (Filter> Blur> Gaussian Blur) with a value of 8 pixels.

Step 28

Place both trees in one group (Ctrl + G). Bring the group back to normal overlay mode and create inside adjustment layer Hue / Saturation (Hue / Saturation).

Step 29

Shade trees with Curves Correction Layer (Curves) and work on the mask.

Step 30

Open another photo with the branches of the tree and select them.

Transfer the branches to our document and place in the upper left corner.

Step 31

Change the color of the tree with adjustment layer Hue / Saturation (Hue / Saturation).

Step 32

Create for branches adjustment layer Color balance (Color Balance).

Step 33

Paste the birds into our document.

Apply to them Gaussian Blur filter (Gaussian Blur) with a value of 2 pixels.

Step 34

On top of all layers create gradient adjustment layer (Gradient Map).

Reduce the opacity to 20%.

Step 35

Create adjustment layer Color balance (Color Balance).

Step 36

Create one more gradient adjustment layer (Gradient Map) to add more warm tones.

Reduce the opacity to 20% and paint over the top of the canvas on the mask.

Step 37

Darken the whole scene with Correction Layer Levels (Levels).

Step 38

Create adjustment layer Vibration (Vibrance).

Step 39

Create a new layer at the top. Soft brush color # 221501 paint over the horizon line. Set the blending mode Linear Dodge (Linear Dodge).

Step 40

Create a new layer and use a soft brush using the color # c09469 to add more brightness to the mountain and sky. Set the blending mode Soft light (Soft Light).

Step 41

Create a new layer with the same brush and paint over the trees and mountains in the distance. Set the blending mode Soft light (Soft Light).

Step 42

Create a new layer and select the color # fed58a. Color the horizon so the light is brighter there. Set the blending mode Hard light (Hard Light).

Step 43

Create a new layer and use a soft brush of the same color to paint over the trees. Set the blending mode Overlap (Overlay).

Step 44

On a new layer with the same brush, draw light on the edge of the rock. Set the blending mode Overlap (Overlay).

Step 45

Create a new layer and use a hard brush to draw a glow on the edges of the snow mountain. Set the blending mode Hard light (Hard Light) and reduce the opacity to 50%.

Step 46

Create a new layer and draw a glowing outline on the mountain. Set the blending mode Lightening basics (Color Dodge).

Step 47

Create a new layer with the same brush and paint over the edge of the mountain. Set the blending mode Overlap (Overlay) and reduce the opacity to 60%.
