In this tutorial, I will show you how to create a beautiful picture of a girl on the beach. To create a romantic atmosphere, we add colorful waves, butterflies and effects with sun glare. We also use an action to create text from the clouds.
Today we will create a beautiful spring photo manipulation, using the effect of dissolution. To create the effect of dissolving, we use colorful splashes and butterflies. So let’s get started!

Translator’s Note: The author used paid materials. In the archive you will find an alternative version of free materials for the lesson.
Open the original image with the model. Save your work document in Photoshop in PSD format.
Using tool Frame (Crop Tool), increase the size of the working paper.
Choose a tool Stamp (Clone Stamp Tool) to fill the resulting empty space with sand and grass texture and to recreate the background as in the original image. Use a soft round brush as a cloning tool. Hold the (ALT) key and click on the sand texture to select a sample for cloning. Just use the tool to paint over blank areas of the image.
Continue to fill in the blank areas, taking samples for cloning over and over again. Try to create smooth transitions so that no joints are visible.
Do the same with the sky. Press the (ALT) key to take a sample for cloning, and then paint over the empty space.
Create a new layer, name this layer. Hair (Hair). Open the original image with curls of hair. Copy / paste the hair locks onto the created layer. Using tool Free transformation (Transform Tool), turn the hair curls, as shown in the screenshot below. Of course, you need to apply scaling to the hair curls approached the girl.
To layer Hair (Hair) add adjustment layer Hue / Saturation (Hue / Saturation) as a clipping mask. Set the settings that are shown in the screenshot below.
Using a soft brush, gently hide parts of your hair to create a natural look. You can add as many curls of hair as you like. You can see the result after adding hair in the screenshot below.
Since the sky looks a little flat due to the fact that we used the tool Stamp (Clone Stamp Tool), now we need to add some clouds. Therefore, using the Clouds brush, add beautiful clouds to the sky. Use different shades of white, varying degrees of brush opacity, and also vary the diameter of the Clouds brush.
To add individuality to the image, you can add text from the clouds. I used the Mochary font, but you can use any font as you like. First, install the font in Photoshop, and then create a new document in Photoshop. Add your text.
Create a new layer and use the soft brush to draw arbitrary shapes. Merge layer with text and layer with drawn arbitrary shapes.
To create text with a cloud effect, I used Clouds Action, which you can download from the link at the beginning of this tutorial. You can also use this action in your other projects. Install all the files needed for this action. Click the (Play) button to start the action “BONUS: create clouds brush 1” from the action set.
Action will stop you to make a change. As soon as you make changes to the text with clouds, you can resume further action of the action to create a cloud brush.
Your brush is ready for use. Go back to our working paper, create a new layer, name this layer Text from Clouds (Clouds Text). Choose a tool Brush (Brush Tool), and then select the last brush from the brush set (the brush that was created using the Clouds action). Brush color is white. Add your text.
Select the Spray brush that you like, for this, download / install the file with the ABR extension into the Photoshop program. Create a new layer, name this layer. Spray (Splatter Paint). Choose a tool Stamp (Clone Stamp Tool), make sure that the control panel of this tool has been installed Sample (Sample) on mode All layers (All Layers), as shown in the screenshot below.
You need to choose one of the Spray brushes as a tool brush. Stamp (clone stamp). Press the (ALT) key, select a sample for cloning, and then simply click on the image to add a splash effect.
To layer Spray (Splatter Paint), I added an adjustment layer Curves (Curves) as a clipping mask to enhance color.
Repeat the process using other brushes of different diameters. Or you can use the same brush, but vary the angle of the brush.
Open the original Paint texture. Move this texture to our working paper. Using tool Magic wand (Magic Wand Tool), highlight the white background on the image with stains of paint, and then delete it. To the layer with highlighted paint stains, add a layer style. Gradient overlay (Gradient Overlay). You can use any gradient at your discretion. The gradient colors I used are # 0b01b8, # fdfa03 and # 0b01b8. Blend mode Chromaticity (Color).
If you want, you can add 3D splashes to enhance depth. To apply these splashes, you will need to remove the white background in this image. You can also apply scaling, rotation, change color, etc.
Add butterflies to our scene, as shown in the screenshot below. To create a scattering effect, we use spray and butterflies. You need to add butterflies on separate layers, apply rotation, scaling, etc.
Next, add a sun flash texture. Change the blending mode for the layer with this texture to Lightening (Screen). You can also use the texture with a sun flare or choose your favorite optical flare.
As a final touch, we will make a small correction. First, add an adjustment layer. Gradient map (Gradient Map). Gradient colors: # 4a525a and # e2d7c0. Change the blending mode for this adjustment layer with gradient map to Soft light (Soft Light).
Next, add a gradient fill. Colors for the gradient: #ffffff (position (location) 0%, opacity (opacity) 100%), # ffc675 (position (location) 43%) and # ffc675 (position (location) 100%, opacity (opacity) 0%). Change the blending mode for the gradient fill layer to Overlap (Overlay). Draw a gradient to the top left corner.
Add a correction Curves (Curves). Curve Correction is similar to Correction. Levels (levels) of Photoshop, with which you can adjust the range of tones of the entire image. Before correction, the tonality of the image is represented as a straight diagonal line, which you can see in the graphics window. When correcting the image, the upper right area of the graphics window is represented by light highlights, and the lower left area is represented by shadows.
Apply filter Colour contrast (High Pass Filter) to enhance the sharpness of the entire image.
You can see the final result in the screenshot below. Hope you enjoyed this tutorial!
