Create a fabulous dream landscape in Photoshop

In this lesson you will learn how to create a fantastic collage with a child.

Open the background image and delete the mountains. Create a layer mask and using Brush Tool (Brush) (B) black color removes the area shown below.

Insert the image Space under the background layer and screen it by clicking on the layer in the layers panel with the right mouse button and selecting Rasterize Layer (Rasterize layer).

Open the image of the Space core and place it on the document, as shown below. Press Ctrl + T to activate the free transformation, then right-click on the document and select Flip Horizontal (Flip horizontally). Next, create a layer mask and use a black brush (B) to remove the excess (in the screenshot it is marked in red). Change layer blend mode to Linear Dodge (Linear Dodge).

Now insert the image of Cosmos1 and repeat the whole procedure described above. Blend Mode – Soft Light (Soft light).

Create an adjustment layer Photo Filter (Photo filter) by clicking on the button at the bottom of the layers panel Add new fill or adjustment layer (Create a new fill or adjustment layer). Density (Density) is set to 37%, and opacity to 85%.

Now add adjustment layers Color Balance (Color balance) and Color Lookup (Search for color), then convert them to clipping masks of the background layer (Ctrl + Alt + G). Set the parameters Midtones (Midtones) (-28-24 +36) and Highlights (Light) (-17 -16 +20). Opacity set at 85%. For adjustment layer Color Lookup (Color search) set the filter “FuturisticBleak” and change the blending mode to Soft Light (Soft light) with an opacity of 40%.

Now insert the image with the child. Double click on the layer with the left mouse button to open the window Layer Style (Layer style). Activate Gradient Overlay (Gradient overlay) with blend mode Overlay (Overlap), opacity 47%, angle 180 and scale 70%.

Duplicate the layer with the child (Ctrl + J) and press Ctrl + U to open the settings Hue /Saturation (Hue / Saturation). Install Lightness (Brightness) at -100. Press Ctrl + T, then flip vertically and hold Ctrl to transform the copy, as shown below. Move on Filter – Blur – Gaussian Blur (Filter – Blur – Blur according to Gauss) and set the blur to 4. Set the layer opacity to 65%. Remove the extra details of the shadow with a layer mask and a black brush.

Open the photo with a toy bear. Via Quick Selection Tool (Quick selection) create a selection of a toy. Press Ctrl + Shift + I to invert the selection. Then click the button on the toolbar Quick Mask Mode (Quick mask mode) and brush gently select small parts. Press the button again Quick Mask Mode (Quick mask mode) and then the key combination Ctrl + C to copy the selected area. Paste (Ctrl + V) toy on the working paper. We rasterize, place it at the child’s hand and remove the excess.

Another way to create the perfect selection is to use the tool. Pen Tool (Feather) (P).

Insert a tree and repeat the shadow creation process described above (opacity 75%).

Add an adjustment layer Color Balance (Color balance) with the following parameters: Midtones (Mid Tones) (-16-9 +24), Highlihts (Light) (-24 -48 0) and Shadow (Shadow) (-3 -15 -7). Add a filter Photo Filter (Photo filter) (Magenta filter, 45% density), convert it to a clipping mask.

Place the image with the leaves and rotate them using a free transformation (Ctrl + T). Add Photo Filter (Photo filter) (converting it to a clipping mask) (Violet filter, density 92%).

Add birds and apply to them. Filter – Blur – Motion Blur (Filter – Blur – Blur in motion) with Angle (Angle) -31 and Disstance (Distance) 10.

Add more birds near the tree.

Next, add the butterflies, using the layer mask remove excess. Duplicate the layer several times and place copies above the child.

Add a highlight and use the layer mask to remove the excess (marked in red in the screenshot). Blend Mode – Screen (Lightening).

Now we will add adjustment layers to give the work a magical atmosphere. All adjustment layers are added via the button. Add new fill or adjustment layer (Add a new fill or adjustment layer) at the bottom of the layers panel.

  1. Color Lookup (Search color) – select the HorrorBlur filter, layer opacity – 20%
  2. Photo filter (Photo Filter) – color # 73541f, Density (Density) – 46%
  3. Vibrance (Vibration) – Vibrance (Vibration) – +12, Saturation (Saturation) – 0
  4. Gradient Map (Gradient map) – color from blue to black, set the blend mode to Soft Light (soft light) and opacity by 15%
  5. Gradient Map (Gradient map) – use black, blue and white colors. Using a layer mask (brush opacity 50%), we remove the effect of the adjustment layer on the child and the background. Set the blending mode to Soft Light (Soft light) and opacity by 55%.
  6. Curves (Curves) – choose Linear Contrast (RGB) (Linear Contrast). At this time, the adjustment layer is used only on the child, and everything else is removed.
  7. Solid Color (Color) – choose color # 0051b5 and set the blending mode to Soft light (Soft light) with an opacity of 11%.

Hit Ctrl + Shift + Alt + E to merge all layers. Move on Filter – Render – Lightning Effect (Filter – Rendering – Lighting Effect). Choose Point, Intensity (Intensity) set to 32. Create a layer mask and use a black brush to edit the place where the planet is brightly lit. Set layer opacity to 55%.

Add an adjustment layer Curves (Curves) and in the settings window, press Ctrl + I to invert the mask colors. White brush paint over the bottom of the image.

Press Ctrl + Shift + Alt + E to merge the layers again. Move on Filter – Oil Paint (Filter – Oil paint) (this filter is available only in Photoshop CS6). Opacity set at 75%.
