In this lesson we will learn how to create a fantastic collage between dream and reality in the combination of our planet, Jupiter and Saturn using textures and some methods. Imagine that you admire the giant planets on another planet.
To complete this tutorial, you will need Photoshop CS 6 or later.
The final image.
Starting materials
Create a new document (Ctrl + N) 3500 x 3500 px, resolution 72 dpi, RGB mode 8 bit. Open the image of the mountains and move to the working document.
Tool Quick selection tool (W) (Quick selection) highlight the sky, mountains and delete them using Eraser tool
(E) (Eraser) or using a layer mask.
Then add an adjustment layer. Color balance (Color balance) by going to the menu Layer> New Adjustment Layer> Color Balance (Layer – New Adjustment Layer – Color Balance).
Decrease Opacity (Opacity) adjustment layer up to 85%.
Next, open the nebula2 texture, move it to work and position it as shown below.
Tool Eraser tool (E) (Eraser) and / or using a layer mask, erase the part of the texture that comes on the bottom image.
Do the same with cosmos1.
Change the blend mode of the second texture to Screen (Screen).
Open the image of the planet Saturn and position it as shown below.
Tool Eraser tool (E) (Eraser) or using a layer mask, erase the black background around the planet and the part of the planet itself that enters the image with the ground.
Change the layer blending mode with the planet to Screen (Screen).
Duplicate the planet layer (Ctrl + J). Apply a soft eraser to the edges and wipe off the rings.
Change the blending mode to Soft light (Soft light).
Choose a tool Eraser tool (E) (Eraser), set the following parameters for it:
- Size: 500 – 600 px
- Hardness (Hardness): 0%
- Opacity (Opacity): 60%
- Flow (Pressure): 30%
Then erase the area highlighted in the image below.
Translator’s Note: process both layers with the planet.
Open an image with another planet and position it as shown below.
Using tool Quick selection tool (W) (Quick selection) select the planet and with the active selection go to the menu Layer> Layer Mask> Reveal Selection(Layer – Layer – Mask – Show Selected Area).
Decrease Opacity (Opacity) layer up to 80%.
Above all layers create a new layer (Shift + Ctrl + N). Choose a tool Brush tool (B) (Brush) with the following parameters:
- Size: 500 – 600 px
- Hardness (Hardness): 0%
- Opacity (Opacity): 30%
- Flow (Pressure): 30%
Paint over the horizon using the color # f0e1da.
Open the texture image cosmos8_0004 and position it as shown below.
Use a soft eraser or layer mask to cut edges to get the following result.
Then change the blending mode of the layer to Soft light (Soft light).
Open the texture of the Sans titre-4 and process the bottom edge.
Change the blending mode to Soft light (Soft light) and reduce Opacity (Opacity) up to 20%.
In the layers panel, select all layers except the background and adjustment layer and convert to a group by going to the menu Layer> New> Group from Layers (Layers – New – Group of layers) or Ctrl + G.
Then create an adjustment layer. Photo filter (Photo Filter) by going to the menu Layer> New Adjustment Layer> Photo Filter (Layer – New Adjustment Layer – Photo Filter) as a clipping mask with respect to the group.
Open the model image and separate from the background. For a more accurate selection of hair, use the function Refine edge (Specify edge).
Transfer to work and place as shown below.
Choose a tool Eraser tool (E) (Eraser) size 100 – 200 px, Grass brush and handle the legs of the model.
Then add a layer style to the model layer. Gradient overlay (Gradient overlay) with the parameters shown below.
Translator’s Note: adjust the opacity of the style based on the screenshot.
Load model selection. To do this, hold down the Ctrl key and click on the layer thumbnail. Create a new layer (Shift + Ctrl + N). Choose a tool Brush tool (B) (Brush) with the following parameters:
- Size: 100 – 300 px
