Step 1

In this Photoshop tutorial, I use the already-made background, as well as the prepared source images, which we combine together to create a Halloween photo manipulation.

So let’s get started. Open the original image with the background already ready. Name the layer with the background Room fears (Creepy Room).

Step 2

Create a new layer. Name this layer Opened door (Open Door). Using tool Brush (Brush Tool), brush color black, paint over the door area.

Step 3

Next, open the original image with the forest in Photoshop. Using tool Move (Move (V)), move this image with the forest onto our working document, placing it on top of the layer Opened door (Open Door). Now right-click on the forest layer in the layers palette and in the appeared window select the option Create clipping mask (Create Clipping Mask).

Step 4

Next, open the original image with the graveyard in Photoshop. Using tool Move (Move (V)), move this image with the graveyard onto our working paper, placing it on top of the forest layer. Now right-click on the cemetery layer in the layers palette and in the appeared window select the option Create clipping mask (Create Clipping Mask).

Step 5

Change the blending mode for the graveyard layer to Blackout (Darken).

Step 6

Create a new adjustment layer. Brightness / Contrast (Brightness / Contrast). Set the following settings, which are shown in the screenshot below. Now right click on this adjustment layer. Brightness / Contrast (Brightness / Contrast) in the layers palette and in the appeared window select the option Create clipping mask (Create Clipping Mask).

Step 7

Add adjustment layer Hue / Saturation (Hue / Saturation) on top of all other layers. Reduce value Saturation (Saturation) to about -50% or more.

Step 8

Add adjustment layer Brightness / Contrast (Brightness / Contrast) on top of all other layers. Reduce value Brightness (Brightness) to about -55% or more.

Step 9

Now go to the adjustment layer mask Brightness / Contrast (Brightness / Contrast) and with the help of a soft black brush hide the correction of the correction layer in the areas shown in the screenshot below.

Step 10

Add adjustment layer Gradient map (Gradient Map). Set the following gradient colors: # 18222d / position (location) 0%, # 954a18 / position (location) 33% and # b36c19 / position (location) 100%. Do not forget to change the blending mode for this adjustment layer. Gradient map (Gradient Map) on Chromaticity (Color), opacity 100%.

Step 11

Now go to the adjustment layer mask Gradient map (Gradient Map) and using a soft black brush with varying degrees of opacity, hide the correction of the correction layer in the areas shown in the screenshot below.

Step 12

Set the background color to white and the foreground color to black. Create a new layer, name this layer. Fog (Smoke). Fill this layer with black and then go Filter – Rendering – Clouds with overlay (Filter> Render> Difference Clouds). Apply this filter several times (up to about 10-12 times). Once you apply the filter once, you can simply press the keys (CTRL + F) to simply apply the same filter. Hot keys (CTRL + F) will help you once again apply the filter that you used last.

Step 13

Change the blending mode for the layer Fog (Smoke) on Soft light (Soft Light), and also reduce Opacity (opacity) layer to 53%.

Step 14

Create a new layer, name this layer. Light highlights (Highlights). Using a soft round brush, the brush color is white, paint over the scene, as shown in the screenshot below.

Step 15

Change the blending mode for the layer Light highlights (Highlights) on Overlap (Overlay).

Step 16

Next, we add an image of a pumpkin. Open the original pumpkin image in Photoshop. Using tool Move (Move (V)), move this image with the pumpkin to our working paper, placing the pumpkin in the center of the scene in the foreground. Name layer with pumpkin Halloween pumpkin (Halloween Pumpkin).

Step 17

Create a new adjustment layer. Brightness / Contrast (Brightness / Contrast). Set the following settings, which are shown in the screenshot below. Now right click on this adjustment layer. Brightness / Contrast (Brightness / Contrast) in the layers palette and in the appeared window select the option Create clipping mask (Create Clipping Mask).

Step 18

Add adjustment layer Gradient map (Gradient Map). Set the following gradient colors: # 040200 / position (location) 0%, # ff7200 / position (location) 69% and # ffec47 / position (location) 100%. Do not forget to change the blending mode for this adjustment layer. Gradient map (Gradient Map) on Chromaticity (Color), opacity 100%. Now right click on this adjustment layer. Gradient map (Gradient Map) in the layers palette and in the appeared window select the option Create clipping mask (Create Clipping Mask).

Step 19

Your pumpkin should look like the screenshot below. If you want, you can additionally add light effects with brushes and textures. Light effects.

Step 20

Create a new layer, name this layer. Candle light (Candle Light). Using a soft round brush, the color of the brush is white, add a glow over the candle. To layer Candle light (Candle Light), add the following layer styles to add a light effect to the candle: Shadow (Drop Shadow), External glow (Outer Glow) (color # ff8e51), Internal glow (Inner Glow) (color # ff9000) and Color overlay (Color Overlay) (color # ffffd4).

Step 21

Finally, we apply the filter Colour contrast (High Pass). Press the keys (SHIFT + CTRL + ALT + E) to create a merged layer from all visible layers. Name this merged layer Sharpen effect (Sharpen Effect). Next, go Filter – Other – Color Contrast (Filter> Other> High Pass).

Thank you for being with me. Hope you enjoy this tutorial. Have a good day!
