Create a red and blue effect in Photoshop

The idea of ​​this effect originated under the inspiration of watching an Indian film Raaz Reboot, and in this lesson we will try to achieve a similar result using simple methods in Photoshop CC 2017. Ho You can work in all versions of the program.

Step 1?

Create a new document size 780? 780 pixels with a resolution of 72 pixels / inch, color mode – RGB color 8 bits.

Then, open and insert a male-faced image into our work.

Then, add an adjustment layer Selective color correction by going to the menu – Layers (Layers) – New Adjustment Layer (New adjustment layer) – Custom correction colors (Selective color).

Step 2

Now, double-copy or re-import the image of a man’s face, resize and position around the eyes, as in the image below:

Then, change the blending mode of these layers to Light replacement (Lighten) and reduce Opacity (Opacity) up to 50%.

Step 3

Add a new layer by going to the menu – Layers (Layer) – New (New) – Layer (Layer) (Ctrl + Shift + N), in the dialog box, select the layer blending mode Overlap (Overlay) and check the box “Fill in neutral color 50% gray. “

Take Tool DodgeTool (Brightener), reset the colors by pressing the D key, select a soft brush, set the exposure value to 20%, and using white color, clarify the model, as shown in the figure below.

Translator’s Note: The author changes the blending mode of the layer with the gray fill to Normal to show exactly where the face in the portrait should be brightened.

Step 4

Then, open and paste a glitter texture into our work:

And now using the tool Eraser (Eraser Tool) (E)

or mask layer, remove the part of the texture that falls on the face.

Translator’s Note: You can add a layer mask by clicking on the “Add Layer Mask” layer mask button, which is located at the bottom of the layers palette.

Then, change the layer blending mode to Light replacement (Lighten) and reduce it Opacity (Opacity) up to 42%.

Then go to menu – Picture (Image) – Correction (Adjustments) – Color tone / Saturation (Hue / saturation) and reduce saturation to -47.

Then add a new layer (Ctrl + Shift + N), take Tool Gradient (Gradient Tool) (G) and draw a small linear gradient from Black to Transparent.

Step 5

Now add a fill layer in blue color # 0096ff by going to the menu – Layers (Layer) – New layerfill (New Fill Layer) – Colour (Solid Color).

Hide part of the blue color by painting it with a round, soft brush with black color over the layer mask.

Then change the blending mode of the layer to Subtraction (Subtract).

Add another fill layer with the same color # 0096ff by going to the menu – Layers (Layer) – New layerfill (New Fill Layer) – Colour (Solid Color).

Then, hide a part of the blue color by painting it with a round, soft brush with black on the layer mask, getting the result as in the image below:

Change the blending mode of this layer to Overlap (Overlay).

Step 6

Now create a new layer (Ctrl + Shift + N) and draw smoke using the Smoke brushes and # d67a1a colors.

Translator’s Note: To install the brush, go to the menu Editing (Edit)– Sets (Presets) – Kit Management (Preset Manager), select the type of set: brush – download – select the ABR file with a brush – download.

Then, change the layer blending mode to Lightening basics (Color Dodge) and reduce it Opacity (Opacity) up to 28%.

Create another layer (Ctrl + Shift + N) and draw a little smoke on the other side using the blue color # 2692e5.

Now, change your layer blend mode to Overlap (Overlay) and reduce it Opacity (Opacity) up to 70%.

Finally, add a Levels adjustment layer by going to the menu – Layers (Layers) – New Adjustment Layer (New adjustment layer) – Levels (Levels), set the following settings:
