Create a spectacular and dynamic picture in Photoshop

Today we are going to show you an interesting lesson from our friend Vigan Tafili aka Nagiviti (Vigan Tafili aka Nagivity). This is a very beautiful concept of digital art that I hope you enjoy.

Here is what Vigan says about himself:

Hello! My name is Vigan Tafili aka Nagiviti, I am 18 years old, I was born and raised in Pege, it is a small town in the youngest country in Europe – in Kosovo. Kosovo is a rather small country, but with a huge baggage of ancient traditions in the culture of artistic expression. And, so to speak, with a lot of artistic talent. My first contact with computer art was at a young age. I started as a photographer, then continued to work as a photo editor, and then, finally, I became a digital artist, which I am today.

I want to share some of my tips and tricks. I will show you a small part of my work, where you will see how to make a work of art without cutting off the model, while using only tools Patch (Patch Tool) and Brush (Brush Tool), and apply some effects.

Step 1

Download the stock image with the girl, then duplicate it, then you need to use the tool Brush (Brush Tool) and tool Patch (Patch Tool) remove the rope from the pants and hair.

Step 2

Tool Patch (Patch Tool) remove part of the image with the ropes, then create a new layer and with a soft brush paint the hair gray, as I did.

Step 3

To create a beautiful background, I used an image with mountains. You will need to place this image above the layer with the girl and then change the blending mode to Darkening basics (Color Burn).

Next, create a layer mask and use a soft black brush to hide part of the image with the mountains to make a smoother transition between images.

Step 4

Place again the image with the mountains in our work, change the blending mode to Darkening basics (Color Burn) and reduce opacity (Opacity) layer up to 31%. Next, create a layer mask and use a soft black brush to create a smooth transition between images.

Step 5

I found a great peacock image and used it to create hair.

Step 6

After you select the desired size and location, create a layer mask and use the soft black brush to mask the unwanted parts. Then duplicate the layer and change the blending mode to Overlap (Overlay) and using the layer mask to erase the unnecessary part of the image, leaving only the area with feathers on the head.

Step 7

Create a new layer and name it “Blue.” Choose color # 003e82 and paint over the girl’s T-shirt, mittens and partly mountains. Also color this part of the girl’s face, arms, shoulders and back. Then change the blending mode of this layer to Chromaticity (Color). Create another layer and using standard brushes paint over the peacock’s eye and also slightly paint the hair on the face.

Step 8

In this project I wanted to experiment with some new tricks, for this I will use the image of the morning mist, which is popular on the Internet.

Put the image into work and change the blending mode to An exception (Exclusion), then create a layer mask and use a black brush to erase the unwanted part of the image.

Step 9

Put the image with the snowflakes in the work and change the blending mode to Screen (Screen) and reduce Opacity (Opacity) up to 40%. Then create a layer mask, then invert it and with a white brush show the snowflakes in the parts we need.

Step 10

Create a new layer, take a white brush to draw the clouds over the snowflakes. Lower opacity (Opacity) brush up to about 30%.

Paint the background with the color # cbd3d6, using a soft brush, and reduce its opacity.

Step 11

Create a new layer and play with different brushes to create a flow effect on the girl and the snowflakes. Then create another layer and fill it with black and go to Filter> Reding> Blick (Filter> Render). Change the blending mode to Screen (Screen) and place a highlight next to the girl at belt level.

Notetranslator: The author created a new layer, filled it with gray 50% and changed the blending mode to Overlap (Overlay). Using tool Clarifier (Dodge Tool) and Dimmer (Burn Tool) (Range: Midtones, Exposure: 40 to 80%) painted part of the stream using a variety of brushes. He also walked brightener on the girl and in some parts of the background.

Next, it creates another layer, changes the blending mode to Screen (Screen), in blue and turquoise (# a9fffe) draws left and right along the edges (you can also lighten the upper corner). At the same time, it reduces the pressure and opacity of the brush, and also reduces the opacity of the layer to 75%. Then he creates another layer and in orange color draws the circles into the stream, also reducing the pressure and transparency of the brush. After that, you will need to choose another blend mode for this layer.

Step 12

Add a Gradient map (Gradient Map), from white to blue, change the blending mode to Darkening basics (Color Burn) and reduce the opacity to 34%. Create another one Gradient map (Gradient Map), use the # d8cbb3 color on the left and # 423319 color on the right, change the blending mode to Soft light (Soft Light) and reduce the opacity to 88%.

Next, create a new layer, press the key combination Shift + F5 and fill the layer with 50% gray, change the blending mode to Overlap (Overlay).

Then using the tool Clarifier (Dodge Tool), give a bright and radiant effect on the pleats of T-shirts, pants, sneakers, face, head, and also partially lighten the flow and the left corner of the background. Next, create an adjustment layer. Color balance (Color Balance) and play it with the settings.

Step 13

Now make a little contrast. Create a new layer, change the blending mode to Overlap (Overlay), take a brush and white color to brighten the flow and partly the girl, as necessary, reduce the opacity of the layer.

Step 14

Next, add some more effects to our work. Then add abstract wings using a watercolor brush and make a smooth transition between the wings and the back of the girl.

Note: The author also created a new layer above the winged layer, filled it with 50% gray and changed the blending mode to Overlap (Overlay). Next, a tool Clarifier (Dodge Tool) he drew the clarified lines so that they begin along the folds of the T-shirts and reach around the middle of the wings. He also made the clarification in the upper left part of the image, next to the girl, on the belt, as well as on the sneakers and finished painting the small bleached hair on the head.
