Leave your face in history – Asia

Greetings to you, Photoshop lovers.
In this lesson we will continue the photo processing series “Leave your face in history”. This time, we will create a collage in Asian style.

So, let’s begin.

Step 1. Create a new layer (Shift +Ctrl +N) name background. Fill it with a soft orange color. Later, on top of this layer, textures will be applied, but nevertheless, it will be a good color basis for creating a leaf fall effect.

Create a new layer and name it. leaves. Select tool “Brush»(Brush). In the default set of brushes (Reset Brushes), select the brush “scattered leaves”. Using a different color and brush size, draw leaves, and for each color – a separate layer (leaves 1, leaves2 …).

Step 2 Now we need a clipart with a fan. The author of the lesson used a free photo from www.sxc.hu (note that the author does not forget to indicate the resource from which the photo was taken).

Open a photo with a fan in Photoshop and, using the most convenient selection tool for you, separate the fan from the background. Using the tool “Move (Move), drag the fan from the new document to the main one (where the collage will be created).

Or…

File – Place (File – Place), in the window that appears, select the desired photo, click Place (Place) and at the end Enter. And, about a miracle – all manipulations can be done immediately in one document.

Layer with fan is called fan.

The author, to make the image of the fan softer, reduced the transparency of the layer to 70%. Move this layer on the layers palette over the layer background, that the leaves were on the fan.

Step 3. Look at the interesting texture the author has found (she’s also from www.sxc.hu). Add it to our document. Name layer texture. Move this layer on the palette on top of the layer. background, to fan was on top of the texture.

Step 4. Open the photo in Photoshop. Using the selection tool that is most convenient for you, separate the shape from the background. Using the tool “Move (Move), drag the fan from the new document to the main one (where the collage is created). Name layer girl

Place this layer on the layers palette between texture andfan.

Step 5. Now we have to work on dressing clothes in the Asian style.

Using the tool Pen (Feather) or Lasso (Lasso), highlight the prominent piece of the dress. Save selection Select – Save Selection (Highlight – Save Selection).

On a new layer using the tool Gradient (Gradient, linear, from # f0e2c5 to #dfbf72) fill the selection.
Next, cut a trapezoidal piece of the fan on a new layer, this will be the basis for the dress.

Go to layer texture, load selection Select – Load Selection and copy a piece of the dress to a new layer. Apply to this layer Layer – New adjustment layer – Color balance. Move the slider “red” on 100. Reduce the opacity of this corrective color to 60%.

Using the transformation for new dress elements, adjust the dimensions of these layers.

Step 6 Arm yourself with the “Stamp. Adjust the tool to small size and soft edges. Soften the eyelid line. (You may need a transformation of the eyes, a detailed description of this action can be found in the lesson “Portrait in the Manga style”)

Now you need to change the skin tone. The author of the lesson did not resort to complex skin secretion and applied layer – new adjustment layer – color balance (Layer – new adjustment layer – color balance) on the straight line to the layer with the girl – added yellowness.
The author also wished to slightly change the saturation. layer – new adjustment layer – saturation (Layer – New Adjustment Layer – Hue / Saturation)

Step 7. At this stage, the collage still looks like a photo. To fix this, we will use some filters that will give the effect of the picture.

Step eight. Merge all layers layer – flatten image. This is an important point, because if they are not merged, the filter will be applied to one particular layer, and not to the entire image.
Make two duplicate layers. To the first duplicate (background copy) apply:
Filter – sketch – photocopy (Filter – Sketch – Photocopy (Photocopy))
To the second duplicate (background copy2):
Filter – sketch – waterpaper (Filter – Sketch –quark paper)

Step 9. It’s time to change blending modes and opacity levels.
We have three layers:
background: collage basis
background copy: duplicate base using a filter Photocopy (Photocopy) – opacity level – 60%
background copy 2: duplicate base using a filter Watercolor paper – blending mode Soft light (Soft light)

Step 10. All we have left is to impose a wooden texture on the image.

Step 11. Merge all layers together. Find the right texture. We place its in our document (naturally on the layers palette it is on top). Set the blending mode to Multiply (Multiplication) (if you choose for yourself a different type of texture, then you will have to experiment with blending modes).
Reduce the opacity to 70%

And here is the result of our fruitful work.
