In this lesson we will learn to create a magic book in the illusion of lights, against the background of a window made of colored glass, insert an object into a certain place and plunge into the world of magic.
Open in the new window the image of the old book. File> Open (File> Open) Ctrl +O.
You must copy the layer on which this book is located. Layer> Duplicate Layer (Layer> Duplicate Layer) Ctrl +J. Use a handy tool to create a selection book. The author used Polygonal Lasso Tool (Polygonal lasso).
Next, run Edit> Cut (Edit> Cut) or Ctrl +X
and paste it on a new layer: Edit> Paste (Editing> Paste) Ctrl +V. The previous layer can be removed. For convenience, call this layer a Book.
Now we increase the size of the image using Image> Image Size (Image> Image Size). Put 900 x 874. With Edit>Transform>Distort. (Editing> Transformation> Distortion) achieve the same result as in the figure.
Change brightness and contrast using the following command. Image> Adjustments> Levels (Image> Regulators> Levels) Ctrl + l with the same settings:
Distort it a little too. (Distort option) (Distort the selection).
Now select the floor texture.
Open it in a new window. Ctrl+O, select the whole image Ctrl + A and copy it Edit > Copy (Edit> Copy) or Ctrl+C. Return to the image with the book and paste it on a new layer. Edit > Paste (Editing – Paste) or Ctrl +V.
Name this layer Paul. Move this layer under the book layer (Layer> Assembly> Shift back). Further Edit> Transform> Perspective. (Edit> Transform> Perspective), so that the floor and the book are at one angle.
Now select the Window structure for the collage.
Ctrl + A and place it on a new layer under the floor layer and scale it using the following combination Edit> Free Transform (Edit> Free Transform) or Ctrl + T.
Open the picture file in the old frame.
It is necessary to cut the frame (the layer with the frame must be between the layer with the book and the layer with the window). Fix her size Ctrl + T, tool Polygonal lassoTool (Polygonal Lasso Tool) select the center part and erase it Ctrl +X.
Create a new layer and place it above the floor layer. With the active layer run the command Layer > CreateClippingMask (Layer> Create Clipping Mask) Or Ctrl+G.
And apply the tool Gradient tool (Mirror Gradient) to make the floor in the foreground a little darker.
Change the layer’s overlay mode to Overlay (Overlap) and merge it with the floor layer Ctrl+E.
Change the color of the floor now. Image> Adjustments>Selective color ((Image> Correction> Selective color correction))
Make active the frame layer. Image> Adjustments> Curves (Image> Regulators> Curves) or Ctrl +M. Note that you first work with the RGB channel, then with the red one.
Select the layer with the Window. Apply Curves Ctrl +M.
Create a new layer on top of all other layers. Call it Magic. Using these brushes:
and various colors, create puffs of smoke, sparks, ornaments – a magical effect. Do everything on new layers, play with opacity, transform until you achieve a result. When the result satisfies you, the layers of Magic can be combined into one layer. The figure shows the stages of the lesson’s work.
After you merge the layers that make up the flower, run the command: Image> Adjustments> Hue / Saturation (Image> Correction> Hue / Saturation) or Ctrl +U, to get a glowing, burning effect.
Copy a layer of Magic Ctrl+J. Place it above the book layer, transform it slightly. Ctrl +T. Group a layer of Magic with a layer of Book Alt + Ctrl + G.
Change the layer’s overlay mode to Color burn (Blackout basics). Copy the Magic layer and apply Image> Adjustments> Brightness / Contrast (Image> Correction> Brightness / Contrast) with settings as shown:
Move this layer under the book layer and drag it Ctrl + T> Distort (Distortion). Change the blending mode for this layer to Overlay (Overlap).
Create now the shadow of the book. Copy book layer Ctrl +J. Dim this copy with the command Image> Adjustments> Brightness / Contrast (Image> Correction> Brightness / Contrast). Move the shadow layer under the main book layer and blur it.
Filter> Blur> Gaussian Blur (Filter> Blur> Gaussian Blur)
Distort a little shadow Edit> Transform> Distort (Edit> Transform> Distort). Change the blending mode to Soft light (Soft light) and slide the slider Opacity (opacity) to about 70%
On the new layer above the book the sides of the book should be drawn, located in the shade. Create a selection like in the screenshot and apply a mirror gradient to it. (The arrow indicates the direction of the gradient).
Change the blending mode to Overlay.
Make another copy of the Magic layer. Move the copy lower than the main layer and apply the filter Gaussian blur (Gaussian blur).
Open this image in the program:
Increase its brightness Ctrl +M.
Then Image > Adjustments > SelectiveColor (Image> Correction> Selective color correction). Apply the settings to black, white, yellow and change the blending mode to Overlay (Overlap) and with the help of Free Transformation Ctrl + T, stretch this layer over the entire collage.
Open up the texture of earth and sand.
Ctrl + A, Move this texture over the top layer to the collage. Transform Ctrl + t. And apply the command Layer> Add Layer Mask> Hide all (Layer> Layer Mask> Hide All). Now it is necessary to return part of the image hidden under the mask. Put the main color white and brush with settings Hardness (Hardness) at 0% walk around the edges to return part of the layer with sand.
Make the structure more intense: Filter> Sharpen> Sharpen (Filter> Sharpness> Sharpness), the level of opacity must be reduced to 80%.
Copy two times the layer containing the sand structure Ctrl +J. One copy of the layer must be grouped with the floor layer Ctrl +G, and the second with one book.
The lowest layer should be distorted by the command. Ctrl + T> Distort (Distortion). The shadow falling on the book should repeat the same forms that the book has.
Blur Filter> Blur> Gaussian Blur (Filter> Blur> Gaussian Blur). Change the blending mode to Soft light (Soft light).
Go to layer window. Create a mosaic effect on it.
Image > Adjustments > Desaturate (Image> Correction> Discolor) or Shift + Ctrl+U. Create a new layer and brush paint on part of this layer.
Change the layer’s overlay mode to Soft light (Soft light).
Create a new layer and use the mirror gradient tool, with the settings as in the screenshot, darken the edges of the image.
Change the layer’s overlay mode to Saturation (Saturation).
Merge all layers down. Layer > MergeVisible (Layer> Merge visible) or Shift +Ctrl +E. Then instrument Rectangular marquee tool (Select a rectangular area) create a selection on the right side of the image.
Copy it Ctrl +C and paste it on a new layer Ctrl +V.
Apply filter Filter> Blur> Motion Blur (Filter> Blur> Motion Blur).
Change the layer’s overlay mode to Color burn (Blackout Basics) and merge it with the main layer Ctrl +E. Create a new layer and with a white brush we draw such figures:
Apply filter Filter> Blur> Radial Blur (Filter> Blur> Radial Blur)
Copy layer Ctrl +Jand reapply the filter Filter> Blur> Radial Blur (Filter> Blur> Radial Blur), but with the following settings:
Combine both layers with white shapes and change the mode of the resulting layer to Overlay (Overlap).
Merge all layers Ctrl +E. Paste a sheet of crumpled paper onto a new layer.
Using Magic wand tool (Magic Wand) remove the black background around the paper.
Click the wand on the black bezel and press Delete. Paste a sheet of crumpled paper into our new collage
Move this layer under the picture, group them Ctrl +G and correct size Ctrl + t. Create a new layer below the rest, run the command Paint bucket tool (Fill) black.
Copy the layer containing the picture and apply the filter Filter> Blur> Gaussian Blur (Filter> Blur> Gaussian Blur)
Increase the brightness of this layer with Curves Ctrl +M.
Change layer blending mode to Multiply (Multiplication).
Merge layers with picture and paper Ctrl +E. Apply style to the main image layer. Layer> Layer Style> Inner Glow (Style> Layer Style> Inner Glow) with default setting.
Apply filter Filter > Render > LensesFlare (Filter> Rendering> Blick). Set the center of the glare in the center of the book.
Create a new layer; group it with a picture Ctrl +G. With a black brush, draw a frame around the edges.
Apply a filter to this layer. Filter> Blur> Radial Blur (Filter> Blur> Radial Blur).
Change the layer’s overlay mode to Soft light (Soft Light) and merge all the layers Shift +Ctrl +E. Correct the colors by applying Curves Curves Ctrl +M.
And here is the result of the lesson:
