In this lesson we will learn to add artistic processing to ordinary photography: change the background, work with color, filters and texture.
Open our photo.
Select a girl in a way that is convenient for you and copy her silhouette to a new layer. Remove the previous layer.
Now increase the brightness of the photo, first use the curves. Image – Adjustments – Curves (Image – Correction – Curves).
Make colors more intense using channel mixing Image – Adjustments – Selective Color. (Image – Correction – Selective color correction).
Choose a tool Stamp (Stamp) with a brush in 2 pixels and walk them through the girl’s hair to make them look more vibrant.
Create a copy of this layer and blur it. Filter – Blur – Gaussian Blur. (Filter – Blur – Blur Gaussian).
Change the blending mode to “Soft light“(Soft Light) and set the opacity of the layer to 35%. Now merge the layers (Ctrl + e).
In the new window, let’s open this picture.
Now move the photo of the girl to the new background.
For the harmony of the background and the girl, you need to slightly change the background color, using “Selective Color Correction” Image – Adjustments – Selective Color (Image – Editing – Selective color correction):
Using the brightener tool, let’s add a little shine to the hair:
Use two filters in turn, first Filter – Distort – Diffuse Glow (Filters – Distortion – Ambient Light), then Filter – Brush Strokes – Sprayer Strokes (Filter – Strokes – Airbrush.).
Create a copy of the layer with the background and place it above the layer with the girl, add a mask to the layer, select vertical gradient
with black color and stretch it from top to bottom. Only the bottom of the layer should remain visible.
Change the color of the gradient to white and now make the top of the layer visible.
Merge all layers (Shift +Ctrl +E) and create a copy of what happened. Apply Filter – Brush Strokes – Angled Strokes (Filter – Strokes – Oblique strokes).
Create a mask for this layer, select a black radial gradient so that this layer can be seen only at the edges.
Merge all layers. Using tool Burn(Dimmer), make the edges a little darker.
Let’s make final corrections on brightness and contrast using curves (Ctrl +M).
Here is what we get:
