In this lesson you will see how you can animate a photo made by a simple digital camera.
This material does not contain anything radically new. However, you will see a sequence of actions that you can later apply for your landscape-type photos.
Basic actions:
1) Return the colors
2) Sharpen
3) Make the image more saturated with the help of the Gaussian Blur Filter, blending modes and opacity level.
Using one or another effect, make a duplicate image or a merged layer (Ctrl + A, Shift + Ctrl + C, Ctrl + V) to make it easier to control the result during the work.
Before applying the filter, convert the layer into a smart object, this will greatly facilitate your task, since if necessary, you can easily change the settings.
In this lesson, I deliberately do not specify the numerical values of the image correction settings, since for each photo the approach is strictly individual.
So, let’s begin.
First of all we make a duplicate image.
The picture is quite faded, so we need to return colors. Let us use the lesson of E. Kartashov for this purpose. How to find a color where there is none.
The next step is image correction using “Selective color correction“. For my photo you need to correct yellow, green and neutral colors.
Now, it would not hurt to bring sharpness using a filter.
The next filter I applied to the same layer is “Cellophane packaging“. This filter is not liked, but it is very useful when working with water, because revives her. But be careful when working with it, use the minimum settings so that the water does not turn into polyethylene.
Thus, I applied two “Contour Sharpness” and “Cellophane Packing” filters to one layer.
Now changing blending mode on “Soft light“And play with the layer opacity level.
In principle, this can already be stopped, but I want more vivid colors.
Create a merged layer and apply the filter “Gaussian blur“. Blur radius depends on image quality. The lower the resolution, the lower the radius.
I apply to this layer blending mode “Bright light“. This blending mode, in my case, darkens the image and, as it were, adds contrast.
Reducing the level of opacity layer up to about 40%.
Duplicate layer with blur and changing the blending mode to “Darkening basics– add saturation and darken the image. Reducing the level of opacity up to 25%.
I do not like the purple color of the water, plus its light tone distracts from the water lily. On a new layer with a soft brush of dark green color with a low level of opacity in the “Color” mode, I paint over the water.
I createmerged layer“And apply the filter”Gaussian blur” reduce the level of opacity up to 30% and change the blending mode to “Multiplication“. This not only obscures the image, but also introduces additional contrast.
I do the merged layer again and add sharpness.
As you can see, nothing complicated, only the basics are involved to get this result. Do not believe? Check out!
Experiment and you will get everything.
