Materials for the lesson:

Let’s start with creating the background. Load a set of paper textures, create a new document in Photoshop and apply a style to the background layer. Pattern overlay (Pattern Overlay).

Create a correction layer above the texture layer. Hue / Saturation (Hue / Saturation). To do this, click on the icon of the black and white circle at the bottom of the layers palette and select the desired item.

Choose a tool Horizontal text (Horizontal Type Tool) (T) and write a few words using the font “Impact”. Font settings are shown below in the screenshot.

Right click on the text layer and select Convert to curves (Convert to Shape). This is necessary in order to cut out part of the letters.

Download a set of broken glass shapes and add them to the program folder. Choose a tool Arbitrary shape (Custom Shape Tool) (U) and on the top panel select one of the shapes.

Create a shape over the letters. Then select the tool Outline selection (Path Selection Tool) (A) and highlight the first letter of the word.

Once the outline of the letter is highlighted, press Ctrl + C to copy it. Click on the vector mask of the glass shape layer and press Ctrl + V. Hide the text layer and get the following result:

Choose a tool Outline selection (Path Selection Tool) and slide the letter “G” to any place within the texture. Then click on the icon Intersection area (Intersect shape areas). If you like the result, click on the button. Combine (Combine).

Do the same with other letters. As a result, you should have 5 layers for each letter of the word “GLASS”. Place the broken letters in the same places where they were before. Use copy / paste (Ctrl + C / Ctrl + V) so that all letters are on the same layer.

Double click on the layer with letters to open the style window. Apply the following styles:
