Create a text from the peas in Photoshop

Text from products is the best way to show your message and logo to others in an interesting manner. Text effects from products are usually used in advertising to draw the attention of potential buyers. Products are divided by type, and each type of product is great for restaurants, gourmet magazines and blogs, etc. Today you will learn how to create text from peas with flowers of violets in Photoshop for all fans of vegetarian cuisine.

So let’s get started!

Step 1

Open Photoshop. Create a new layer, name this layer. The background (Background). Fill this layer with a light gray tint of #dadada, and then go Filter – Noise – Add Noise (Filter> Noise> Add Noise).

Step 2

Next, go Filter – Stylization – Embossing (Filter> Stylize> Emboss). Set the following settings for this filter: Angle (Angle) 57, Height (Height) 2, Effect (Amount) 30.

Step 3

To layer The background (Background), apply the following layer styles: Internal glow (Inner Glow) # 414141, Color overlay (Color Overlay) # dbdad8 and Gradient overlay (Gradient Overlay) gradient colors are # 000000 and #ffffff. If you want the background to be a different color, then just in the style of the layer Color overlay (Color Overlay), change the color shade to the one that you like.

Step 4

Open the original fork-knife-psddude.png image in PNG format. You can download this image from the link at the beginning of this lesson, including Pea brush. You, of course, can pick up another original image with cutlery and a plate, by searching for your favorite images on stock sites.

Step 5

I decided to decorate the plate with floral monogram, using vector images of flowers, as well as add a dot decor.

Rasterize the flower vector image before adding a dot decoration, otherwise an error message will appear. In the lesson on the link you will learn how to create a point brush in Photoshop.

At the end, do not forget to delete the work contour. To do this, right-click the created contour and in the menu that appears, select the option Delete contour (Delete Path) 3. You can draw a monogram and a decor on one layer, or you can on different layers, then in this case, you will have to add layer styles to both layers.

Step 6

Apply layer styles to the decor layer. But first decrease the value. Fillings (Fill) for a layer with a decor up to 0%, this is very important. Next, add the following layer styles. Shadow (Drop Shadow), (color # 5b5b5b), External glow (Outer Glow), Stamping (Bevel and Emboss), Color overlay (Color Overlay). Make settings for these layer styles, which are shown in the screenshots below.

Step 7

You can also add a logo or text, as I did. In this case, I used the font Olympic Branding, and as the style I used one of these beautiful styles, a convex print. Therefore, you can choose the style yourself: either it will be an engraved text or a convex print, everything will depend on you.

Step 8

To combine all the elements together, I use a simple color registration technique. So let’s go Layer – New Adjustment Layer – Gradient Map (Layer> New Adjustment Layer> Gradient Map) to add a gradient map color effect. Change the blending mode to Chromaticity (Hue), opacity (Opacity) 100%. The gradient colors are # 78797b and # e7c8a9, but you can use other color tones.

Step 9

I used the MV Boli font to write the text. Next, right-click on the layer with the text and in the appeared window select the option Create working circuit (Create Work Path). As you can see, the contour turned out to be closed. Now, to open the contour, simply click the tool Arrow (Direct Selection Tool) one by one of the contour segments, and then press the (Delete) key. If during the removal of the contour fragments, you have completely deleted the entire contour instead of the selected segment, then just press the keys (CTRL + Z) to go back one step and repeat the action again.

Step 10

Create a new layer, name this layer. Peas (Pea) Choose a tool Brush (Brush Tool), set the Pea brush. These brushes can be downloaded from the link at the beginning of the lesson. Install Pea brushes in Photoshop.

Step 11

Choose a tool Outline selection (Path Selection Tool). Right-click on the contour and in the menu that appears, select the option Run stroke contour (Stroke Path). Turn off the visibility of the text layer, and you can also delete the work path. You can also skip all these steps, for this purpose just write the text by hand using the tool Brush (Brush Tool).

Step 12

To layer Peas (Pea), apply layer styles to make the dots on the plate look like real peas. Apply the following layer styles and colors:

Shadow (Drop Shadow), color # 161616

Inner shadow (Inner Shadow), color # 161616

Internal glow (Inner Glow), color #ffffff

Stamping (Bevel and Emboss), colors #ffffff and # 161616

Color overlay (Color Overlay) light green color # 58a003

Gloss (Satin), color #ffffff

Step 13

Text from peas should look like in the screenshot below.

Step 14

Create several layers and using a Pea brush, add peas to our picture. For each pea layer, you must apply the same layer styles that we applied to the pea text layer. To do this, go to the layer Peas (Pea), right-click on the specified layer and in the appeared window select the option To copy style layer (Copy Layer Style). Go back to the other layers with peas and once again right-click on the selected layer and in the appeared window, this time select the option Paste style layer (Paste Layer Style).

Question: How can I paste a layer style to one or several layers at once?

Answer: You can copy the layer style, and then paste it in, to do this, just right-click on the “FX” icon and in the drop-down menu, select the option To copy style layer (Copy Layer Style). Next, go to the desired layer, once again right-click on the layer and this time you need to select the option Paste style layer (Paste Layer Style). To paste a layer style to several layers at once, first select the desired layers, then right-click on the selected layers and in the menu that appears, select the option Paste style layer (Paste Layer Style), and styling will be applied to all selected layers.

Step 15

As a final touch, I added a pansy flower to my plate. By the way, they say that pansies are edible, but before you try them, read additional information about them :) For the color correction of the flower, I added a correction layer Hue / Saturation (Hue / Saturation) to the pansy layer as a clipping mask.

Step 16

Highlight adjustment layer Hue / Saturation (Hue / Saturation) and the pansy layer, then right-click on the selected layers and select the option in the menu that appears Merge layers (Merge Layers). Now using any selection tool that you prefer to work with, select a few petals. Add petals to the plate for decoration; Feel like a chef decorating a dish and using only fresh bio-organic gourmet vegetarian food! And don’t forget to add a layer style. Shadow (Drop Shadow) to all layers with petals and flower, so that they look realistic.

Step 17

To enhance sharpness, apply a filter. Colour contrast (High Pass Filter). You can learn how to sharpen with the Color Contrast filter by reading the tutorial on the link. It’s very simple, and you will immediately see the difference. You can see the final result in the screenshot below.

Thank you for being with me. Have a good day!
