Create a text with a metallic effect in Photoshop

In this tutorial, you will learn how to use different layer styles to create a bright turquoise metallic effect for text with the addition of simple elements in Photoshop.

Step 1

Create a new document. 1152 x 864 px. Set the foreground color to # 66717d and the background color to # 2d3d48. Select GradientTool (G) (Gradient), in the options bar, select RadialGradient (Radial gradient) and draw a gradient line from the center to one of the corners.

Open in Photoshop Texture 230 and place in the working paper above the background layer. Change the blending mode to Multiply (Multiplication) and Opacity (Opacity) up to 70%.

We go to Image -> Adjustments -> Hue / Saturation (Image – Correction – Hue – Saturation) and change the Hue value (Color Tone) to 180, the Saturation value to – 70.

Step 2

Write the text in Baltar font with color # 8bbab size 250pt. Set the interlaced value (Leading) to 270 pt, and the tracking value (Tracking) to 75, to avoid overlapping the stroke in the future.

Double click on the text layer to apply the layer styles.

Drop shadow (Shadow). Change the color to # 7f7f7f and Distance (Distance) to 6.

Inner shadow (Inner Shadow)

– Color (Color) – # 3da09f
– Distance (distance) – 0
– Size (Size) – 27

Outer glow (External glow)

– Blend Mode (Overlay) – Multiply (Multiply)
– Color (Color) – # 75b2b6
– Size (Size) – 50

Inner glow (Inner Glow)

– Blend Mode (Overlay) – Multiply (Multiply)
– Color (Color) – # 54a5af
– Size (Size) – 18

Both glow styles are used to emphasize the shadow effect by changing blend modes and colors.

Bevel and Emboss (Embossed)

– Size (Size) – 20
– Highlight Mode (Backlight Mode) – Vivid Light (Bright Light) – Color (Color) – # 9df0ff
– Highlight Mode (Shadow Mode) – Multiply (Multiplication) – Color (Color) – # bff3f8

Contour (Circuit)

– Contour – Half Round (Semicircle). Make sure the box is ticked on Anti – aliased.

Texture (Texture)

– Pattern (Pattern) – Texturetastic Gray
– Depth – 30%

Satin (Gloss)

– Color (Color) – # b3e6ed
– Contour – Log (Report)

This will create a bright metallic effect.

Step 3

Right-click on the text layer and selectCreate Work Path (Create a work path).

Create a new layer below the text layer and name it. Stroke. Choose a hard round brush with a diameter of 25 pixels and set the foreground color to # 909090.

Choose a tool Direct selection tool (Arrow), right-click on the contour and select Stroke Path (Outline stroke).

Select a brush and make sure the pressure simulation is off.

This will add a stroke. Press Enter to get rid of the contour.

Load the text selection (Ctrl + click on the thumbnail) and on the layer with a stroke, press delete to cut the text inside the stroke.

Deselect Ctrl + D.

Step 4

Double click on the layer Stroke, to apply the following layer styles.

Drop shadow (Shadow)

– Color (Color) – # 737373
– Distance (distance) – 10

Bevel and Emboss (Stamping)

– Highlight Mode (Backlight Mode) – Vivid Light (Bright Light) – Color (Color) – #dcdcdc
– Shadow Mode (Shadow Mode) – Color (Color) – # 7d7d7d
Make sure that the check mark on the anti-aliasing is checked.

Contour (Circuit)

– Contour – Valley –Low (Valley – low)
Tick ​​on smoothing.

This will give the effect of iron.

Step 5

Create a new layer on top of all layers and name the Pins.

Double click on the layer to apply the following styles.

Drop shadow (Shadow)

– Distance (distance) – 0

InnerShadow (Inner Shadow)

– Color (Color) – # 63b4bf

Bevel and Emboss (Stamping)

– Highlight Mode (Backlight Mode) – Vivid Light (Bright Light)
Highlight Mode (Shadow Mode) – Multiply (Multiplication) – Color (Color) – # 7bd0dc

Make sure that the check mark on the anti-aliasing is checked.

Contour (Circuit)

– Contour – Ring – Double (Double Ring). Tick ​​on smoothing.

Now set the foreground color to # 7c97070. Take a hard 18br round brush and add buttons at the corners of the stroke. Try not to add too many buttons.

Step 6

Finally click on the icon Create new fill or adjustment layer (Create New Adjustment Layer) at the bottom of the layers panel and select Gradient Map.

Make sure that this layer is above all layers, then change the layer’s overlay mode to Multiply (Multiplication) and opacity up to 70%.

Click on the gradient window to create it.

Enter these values:

Color – Location (Color – Position)

Gradient Map enhances colors and adds more contrast.
