In this very simple tutorial, you will learn how to create colorful, sparkling glass text using filters and layer styles.
Materials for the lesson:
Create a new document (File – Create) with the following parameters: Width: 1250, Height: 750 px, resolution 300. Next we need to fill in the document created by us in black. Duplicate the layer by pressing the keys (Ctrl + J).
In the color picker, set the following colors: foreground: black (000000) background color: (ffffff). Now we have to create a small “Northern Lights” on which our text will be located. Go to Filter – Rendering – Fibers (Filter – Render – Fibers) and customize it. Mismatch 20 and intensity 5.
Go to Filter – Blur – Motion Blur (Filter – Blur – Motion Blur), change the angle to 90 degrees and the Offset to 1000.
Change the blending mode to “Linear dimmer”(Linear Burn). As a result, our layer will remain empty, black, but it doesn’t matter the colors we will add later.
Using the tool “Horizontal text (T) ” (Type tool) and “Playball” font (download link is available in the preface) write any word or sentence in Latin letters.
Standing on the text layer, change the “Fill” value to 0 and duplicate the layer by pressing the keys (Ctrl + J).
Double click on the original text layer and apply the following parameters:
Stamping: Style-External bevel, Method-Hard cut, Gloss contour-Inverted cone, put a tick near “Smoothing” Backlight mode-Linear light, Shadow mode-Multiplication, Color-Gray (b5b5b5)
Circuit: Inverted cone, and put a tick near the “Smoothing”.
Stroke: Size-7pix, Position-Outside, Blend Mode-Normal, Opacity-0%, Stroke Type-Color, Color-White (ffffff).
Shadow: Blend-Multiply Mode, Color-Dark Gray (474747), Opacity-75%, Tick the “Global Light”, Offset – 11 pixels, Swipe – 0%, Size – 8 pixels.
And so we created the first layer of glass text.
Double click on the copy of the text layer and apply the following parameters:
Stamping: Style – Internal bevel, Method – Smooth, Depth – 100%, Direction – Up, Size – 13pix, Softening 0 pixel, Gloss Contour – Wavy downward slope, Put a tick next to “Smoothing”.
Circuit: Contour – Gaussian Inversion, and tick the box “Smoothing”.
Internal luminescence: Blend mode – Overlap, Opacity – 75%, Noise – 100%, Color – White (ffffff), Method – Soft, Source – From the Center, Tightening – 0% Size – 20 pixels.
And here we have created the second layer of glass text, it’s time for us to decorate our previously created background.
Use the “Brush (B) ”(Brush Tool) Select a large soft brush and create a new layer between the copy and the original background layer and name it“ Color ”and paint the background with any colors you like.
