Glittering text in Photoshop

This tutorial describes a very simple way to create a beautiful sparkling text effect using a couple of brushes and layer styles.

Note:
– You can use Photoshop CS5 and below to complete the lesson;
– document size 1024 * 768 pix.

Materials for the lesson:

Step 1. Create a new layer on top of the background layer and name it Gradient. Set the main color to # 724242, and the background color to # 3c1a1a, then swipe Radial gradient (Gradient Overlay) from the center of the document to one of the corners.

Double-click on the “Gradient” layer to add Layer style (Add a layer style) Gradient overlay (Gradient Overlay). Change Blend Mode (Blend Mode) to Overlap (Overlay), Opacity (Opacity) 80%, Angle (Angle) to 45 °, and Scale (Scale) to 150%. Then click on the Gradient window to call gradient editor.

Use colors # DC4800 (left) and # 430401 (right) to create a gradient.

This is what should happen.

Move on Filter-> Sketch-> Wet Paper (Filter-> Sketch-> Water Paper), and set the values ​​as in the picture below:

This will add some nice looking sparks to the background.

Step 2. Write the text black color. Use the font, (lesson Aardvark Cafe) size 500 pixels.

Double-click on the text layer and add Layer style (Add a layer style) External glow (Outer Glow): Change the Blend Mode (Blend Mode) to Vivid Light, the color # a6dc6b, the Size (Size) to 10, and the Range (Range) to 100%.

Change the valueFill (Fill) text layer up to 0%. The text should have a very subtle glow effect.

Step 3. Right-click on the text layer in the layers palette and select the command Create work path (Create Work Path).

DownloadBrush diamond. Unzip the archive and load the brush in Photoshop. After downloading you will find it at the bottom of the list of brushes. To bring up the settings panel for the brush, use Window-> Brush (Window-> Brush). Select this brush before moving on to the next step.

Create a new layer on top of all layers and name it Sparkles. Set the white color as the foreground color and select the tool Outline selection (Direct Selection Tool).

Right click on the path and select Perform a stroke (Stroke Path).

Select brush from the tools dropdown menu and check the box Simulate pressure (Simulate Pressure).

This way you get a stroke with our brush. Press Enter to get rid of the contour.

Double-click on the Sparkles layer to add Layer Styles (Add a layer style):
External glow (Outer Glow): Change the Blend Mode of the layer to Brighten the base (Color Dodge) and color to white.

Internal glow (Inner Glow): Just change the color to # f4edd3.

This will add brilliance to diamonds. Change the value Fill (Fill) layer “Sparkles” to 0%.

Step 4. Choose soft round Brush (Brush) and change its settings Window-> Brush (Window -> Brush), as shown below.

Make sure you have selected Pen pressure (Pen Pressure) have Size Jitter in the drop-down menu.

Let’s create a work path once again.

Note: Right-click on the text layer in the layers palette and select the command Create work path (Create Work Path).

Create a new layer on top of all layers and name it “Shine”, set the foreground color to # f8ff99 (click on the path and select Perform a stroke (Stroke Path)) brush, and press Enter.

Note: select a tool to stroke Outline selection (Direct Selection Tool).

Double-click on the “Shine” layer to add Layer Styles (Add a layer style):
External glow (Outer Glow): Change the Blend Mode (Blend Mode) to Soft Light, white color, and Size to 2.

Internal glow (Inner Glow): Change the Blend Mode (Blend Mode) to Linear Light, color # ffb8b8, Source (Source) From the Center (Center), and Size (Size) to 2.

Change Blend mode (Blend Mode) of the Radiance layer on Overlap (Overlay). Notice how bright the text is now.

Step 5.Once again, select soft round brush and, change the values ​​of its settings (Window-> Brush (Window -> Brush)), as shown below.

Make sure that you select Pen Pressure (Pen Pressure) Oscillation size (Size Jitter)atdrop down menu.

Broadcast (Transfer):

Let’s create a work path once again.

Note: Right-click on the text layer in the layers palette and select the command Create work path (Create Work Path).

Again create a new layer on top of all layers, name it “Color” and change Blend mode (Blend Mode) on Color (Color), set the foreground color to # a7a400 and (click on the path and select Perform a stroke (Stroke Path)) brush, and press Enter.

Note: select a tool to stroke Outline selection (Direct Selection Tool).

This will add a nice green glow.

You can stop here if you like the effect. The following two steps are optional, but they add a nice sheen to the background and text, and create a festive mood.

Step 6. Set the foreground color to # 724242 and the background to # 3c1a1a, then select the gradient layer.

Move on Filter-> Strokes-> Airbrush (Filter-> Brush Strokes-> Sprayed Strokes), and change the values ​​as below:

Large sparkles in the background will be automatically removed, and everything will smooth out.

Step 7. Create a new layer on top of all layers and name it “Snowy Lights”, and then double-click on the layer to add Layer Styles (Add a layer style):

External glow (Outer Glow): Change the Blend Mode (Blend Mode) to Vivid Light, the color is white, and the Size (Size) to 2.

Internal glow (Inner Glow): Change the Blend Mode (Blend Mode) to Linear Light, color # ffe400, Source (Source) From the Center (Center), and Size (Size) to 2.

Set the white color as the foreground color, and also use Brush (Brush) with the settings from step 5. Draw glowing spots around the edge of the text. You can also use Eraser (Eraser Tool) to remove unwanted areas.
