Want to learn how to make honeycombs with drops of golden honey in Photoshop? Then let’s get started!
The final image.
Materials for the lesson:
Step 1. Create a new document. 400px * 421px
Step 2. First we will create the cells, create a new layer and name it “Honeycomb”. Activate the tool Arbitrary shape (Custom shape tool) (U) and find the shape of the hexagon shape, place it on the canvas. The color of the form is # ffcb05.
Double-click on the shape layer, Add a layer style, and add the following styles.
Step 4. Now let’s make the honeycomb shine and glow. Create a new layer name it “Glitter”. Activate the tool Brush (Brush Tool) (74 pix., Soft round brush, color # FFFFFF) and make a spot in the center of the cell.
Step 5. Change Blending Mode (Blend Mode) to Overlap (Overlay)
Step 6. Create a new layer and name it “Blsk 2.” Then activate the soft round brush 7px, color # FFFFFF and draw a strip like in the image below.
Step 7. Take the tool Finger (Smudge tool) (22px soft brush) and smooth the strip on both sides. It is better to do it in the direction from the middle to the outside.
Step 8. Change Opacity (Opacity) of this layer by 57%
Step 9. At the moment, it seems that the honeycomb is empty. To remove this feeling
repeat steps 2 and 3, but add a layer style Gloss (Satin).
Step 10. Now create a new layer and take brush (61px, color # 000000) to, again, make a spot in the center of the cell.
Step 11. Change the layer blending mode to Darkening basics (Blend Mode), and Opacity at 71%
Step 12. Now repeat steps 6-8 to add shine. Note: Change the Opacity of this layer to 39%
Step 13. So now we have our cells. Your image should look like the image below.
Step 14. Next, before creating a new document, merge the cells into a group (click the group icon and drag all the layers belonging to this group into the folder). Now create a new document.
Step 15. Fill the background layer with the color # 673606
Step 16. Create a new layer, change the foreground color to # 673606 and the background color to # FFFFFF. Then go to Filter-> Rendering-> Clouds (Filter> Render> Clouds)
Step 17. Then in Filter-> Distortion-> Zigzag (Filter> Distort> ZigZag) and add these parameters.
Step 18. Change Blend mode layer (blend mode) on To divide (Divide)
Step 19. Then go to Filter-> Blur-> Gaussian Blur (Filter> Blur> Gaussian Blur).
Step 20. Create a new layer. Activate soft round brush 750px, color # fadc0f and make a spot in the center of your canvas.
Step 21 Change Blend mode layer (blend mode) on Soft light (Soft Light)
Step 22 Create a new layer again, make sure it is the top layer. Fill the layer with black # 000000, change the Fill to 0% and Add a layer style.
Step 23 In this step, it will take us a lot of time. Drag your cells into your document and duplicate them as many times as you need, and line them up like in the image below. Note: Do not forget to create spaces in the honeycomb.
Step 24 Now it will be better to combine layers with cells that are connected to each other. In the lesson will be 3 different layers of cells. Now we will add Shadow (Drop Shadow) on honeycomb. Use these settings for all cell layers.
Step 25. Your cell should look like this.
Step 26. Now we buoy create text from honey. For this it is better to create a new document. So, create a new document. Size does not matter. The font we will use is BorisBlackBloxx (you can download it in the resources section, at the beginning of the lesson), 155 pixels in size, and the color is # f5d610. Click on the button, Bold (Bold button).
Step 27. Duplicate this layer three times. On the first layer, Add these layer styles (Add a layer style).
Step 28. On the second layer Add these layer styles (Add a layer style). Move this layer 5 pixels. To the left.
Step 29. The third layer also move 5 pixels., To the left and Add these layer styles (Add a layer style).
Step 30. So, your text should look like.
Step 31 Now we will add glowing lights, create a new layer and activate the tool. Brush (Brush tool) (color #FFFFF, size 22px, soft brush) and make circles across the entire letter.
Step 32. Change Blend mode layer (blend mode) on Overlap (Overlay).
Step 33 Next we will add some highlights and darken some areas. Create a new layer and active selection of one of the layers with the letter. You can do this by holding the Ctrl + click key with the mouse button on the layer.
Step 34 Now, with a soft round brush (Brush tool), size 35px, color # FFFFFF
paint over the outer, upper, left edges of our letter, as in the image below.
Step 35 Change Blend mode layer (Blend Mode) of this layer on Overlap (Overlay).
Step 36. Create a new layer with a soft round brush, 6px, and color # FFFFFF draw a few elements, as in the image below.
Step 37. Next, go to Filter-> Blur-> Gaussian Blur (Filter> Blur> Gaussian Blur) and set the value to 2.9 pixels.
Step 38 Change Opacity (Opacity) of this layer by 59%
Step 39. Now we darken some areas. Take Brush (Brush tool) (size 22px, soft round brush, color # 987b02) and make it darker in some places of your letter.
Step 40. Change Blend mode this layer (Blend Mode) on Multiplication (Multiply) Opacity (Opacity) 39%. After you have done this, we will merge all these layers, except the background, into a Group.
Step 41 We finished with the first letter, we will repeat the same actions for all other letters.
Step 42 Next, put our letters in our main document with cells.
Step 43 Create a layer mask for each group of letters. And erase those parts of the letters that you want to leave behind the honeycomb. A 22px soft brush was used in the lesson.
Step 44. Now we add a drop of honey. Take the tool Pen (Pen Tool) and create a droplet shape.
Step 45. Best of all, make each drop on a separate layer. Duplicate each layer with drops. Select the top layer of drops and Add these layer styles (Add a layer style). Note: Rasterize each layer and change the Fill to 0%
Step 46 Your image should look like this.
Step 47. Now, we fill it with # FADC0F, the tool Fill (Paint Bucket Tool).
Step 48 Add a layer style (Add a layer style), Inner Shadow.
Step 49 On the second drop layer, create a selection (Ctrl + click on the layer) Filter-> Blur-> Gaussian Blur (Filter-> Blur-> Gaussian Blur)
Step 50. Change the Opacity of this layer to 50%
Step 51 Now add some elements to make the honey shiny. Create a new layer on top of the layers with drops. Activate the tool Brush (Brush tool) (size 40px, soft round brush, color # fadc0f) and draw a few elements like in the image below.
Step 52 Apply Blur to this layer using Filter-> Blur-> BlurGaussian (Filter-> Blur-> Gaussian Blur)
Step 53 Change Blend mode layer (blend mode) on Screen (Screen), and Opacity at 66%
Step 54 You may need to use a tool Finger (Smudge Tool) to smooth a bit of your elements (soft round brush, size 67px, intensity 36%)
Step 55 We take one more step, take Brush (Brush tool) (size 8px, soft round brush, color # FFFFFF) and draw a few elements.
Step 56 Activate the tool Finger (Smudge Tool) and soften the lines. Change the Opacity of this layer to 26%.
Step 57 Next we make it darker in some areas. Brush (Brush tool) color # 987b02.
Step 58. Change Blending Mode (Blend Mode) to Multiplication (Multiply), and Opacity (Opacity) 22%
Step 59 Let’s go to the other drops, add the same settings.
Step 60 Find photos of bees and add them to your document.
Step 61. Create a new layer, on top of all layers. Take a soft brush, black # 000000 and paint over the edges, as in the image below.
Step 62. Change Opacity (Opacity) of this layer by 50%.
That’s what we did! True, beautiful? All the best and creative successes, friends!
