Making text from ice cream in Photoshop

Today I will show you how to create a beautiful and delicious text from ice cream! The process of creating text is very simple and is designed for any level of fans of the program Photoshop. In this lesson, we use standard tools, including effects, to get the desired result in a short period of time. So let’s get started!

Final result

Step 1

Create a new document in the program Adobe Photoshop, go File – New (File> New). Set the following settings.

Step 2

Fill the background with a color of # aff8fd.

Step 3

Using a soft white brush #ffffff, put a white spot in the center of the image in the background, and then reduce Opacity (Opacity) layer up to 72%.

Step 4

Choose a tool Rectangle (Rectangle tool). Set the following values.

Step 5

Create a vertical strip. Fill color #ffffff. Next, duplicate the white strip several times (Cmd + J), arranging duplicate layers with stripes, as shown in the screenshot below.

Step 6

Next, merge all layers with vertical stripes into one group. Name the new group “Vertical stripes”, and also reduce the opacity of the layer with the group up to 40%

Step 7

Duplicate the “Vertical Stripes” layer (Ctrl + J). Rename the duplicate group called “Horizontal Stripes” and then rotate the image with the group 90 degrees. Reduce the opacity for this layer with a group of up to 30%.

Step 8

So, we have completed the creation of the background. We use the Arial Black font to create our text. Type text ‘ICE’. Next, right-click on the layer with the text and in the window that appears, select the option Rastrirovat text(rasterize text). Create a new group for the text layer. Name the new group “Waffle Cup”. Duplicate the text layer, set it aside for a while, we use it later.

Step 9

Double click on the text layer to apply Overlay options (Blending options) and in the window that appears, select the layer style Stamping (Bevel Emboss).

Add a Inner shadow (Inner Shadow).

Add a Internal luminescence (Inner Glow).

Add a Gradient overlay (Gradient Overlay)

The result should be as in the screenshot below.

Step 10

To the layer with the text ‘ICE’, add a layer mask. Next, using a hard brush, hide certain sections of the text, as shown in the screenshot below.

Step 11

Duplicate the text layer with ‘ICE’ (Ctrl + J). Place the duplicate layer below the original text layer. Next, move the duplicate down a bit (Translator’s Note: move the duplicate down 1-2 px). Save the same layer styles, the only thing is, change the settings for the layer style Gradient overlay (Gradient Overlay).

The result should be as in the screenshot below.

Duplicate the text layer duplicate (Ctrl + J). Place the duplicate text layer below the layer with the first duplicate layer. Move the duplicate layer down a bit.

Step 12

Next, we will create thin lines for the waffle cake. Choose a tool Rectangle (Rectangle Tool). With this tool, draw a few lines, as shown in the screenshot below.

Step 13

Combine all layers with thin lines into one group. Next, merge all layers with lines, to do this inside a new group, select all layers, then right-click on the selected layers and in the window that appears, select the option Merge layers (Merge layers). We transformed the shapes with lines into an image. Double click on the merged layer to apply Overlay options (Blending options). Apply layer style Stamping (Bevel Emboss).

Add a Inner shadow (Inner Shadow)

Add a Internal glow (Inner Glow).

Add a Gradient overlay (Gradient Overlay).

Add a Shadow (Drop Shadow).

Next, reduce the layer opacity to 70%. The result should be as in the screenshot below.

Step 14

Now, to the layer with thin lines, add a layer mask and using a hard brush, hide some of the lines outside the outline of the text, as shown in the screenshot below.

Step 15

Duplicate the line layer. Being on a duplicate layer, go Editing – Transformation – Flip Horizontal (Edit> Transform> Flip horizontal). The result should be as in the screenshot below.

Step 16

Repeat the previous steps for the rest of the text. The result should be as in the screenshot below.

Step 17

Now we will create an ice cream. Go back to Step 8, remember, I asked you to postpone a duplicate of the text layer. Next, we will work with this layer. Arrange this duplicate layer as shown in the screenshot below.

Step 18

In this step, we will create a pink ice cream for the letter “I”. Double click on the layer to apply Overlay options (Blending options). Apply layer style Stamping (Bevel Emboss).

Add a Gradient overlay (Gradient Overlay).

The result should be as in the screenshot below.

Step 19

As you know, ice cream never looks perfect. Therefore, add a layer mask to the layer and using a hard brush, process the outer contour of the ice cream.

Step 20

Duplicate the ice cream layer we created. In this step, we will create a yellow ice cream for the letter “C”. Remove the layer mask from the duplicate layer with ice cream. Double click on the layer to change the settings.

Change the settings for the layer style. Inner shadow (Inner Shadow).

Change the settings for the layer style. Gradient overlay (Gradient Overlay).

The result should be as in the screenshot below.

Step 21

Now add a layer mask to the layer with ice cream and using a hard brush, process the outer contour of the ice cream.

Step 22

Repeat the previous step to create a green ice cream for the letter “E”. Double click on the ice cream layer to change the layer style settings.

Change the settings for the layer style. Inner shadow (Inner Shadow).

Change the settings for the layer style. Gradient overlays (Gradient Overlay).

The result should be as in the screenshot below.

Step 23

Now add a layer mask to the layer with ice cream and using a hard brush, process the outer contour of the ice cream.

Step 24

Create a new layer below all layers with ice cream, then we add a shadow to the ice cream. Using a soft brush, brush color # a25229, add a shadow to the ice cream. Reduce the opacity of the shadow layer to 81%. You can use a layer mask to hide extra shadow areas.

Step 25

Next, we’ll add chocolate syrup on top of the ice cream. First, select a duplicate of the text layer. Place the text layer on top of all other layers. Double click on the layer to apply Overlay options (Blending options). Apply layer style Stamping (Bevel Emboss).

Add a Overlay gradient(Gradient Overlay).

Result.

Step 26

Next, add a layer mask to the chocolate syrup layer and using a stiff brush, cut through some areas of the contour to create the chocolate texture. Reduce brush size to create chocolate smudges.

Step 27

Next, we additionally decorate the glaze, sprinkled with decorative sprinkling over the chocolate glaze. For this, we use a small-diameter brush to add sprinkling, as shown in the screenshot below.

Step 28

Double click on the white sprinkled layer. Apply the following settings, which are shown in the screenshot below.

The result should be as in the screenshot below.

Step 29

Create a new layer to add decorative sprinkling. Repeat the previous step, adding blue sprinkle.

Step 30

Repeat the previous step by adding pink sprinkles.

The result should be as in the screenshot below.

Repeat the previous step by adding yellow dusting.

Repeat the previous step, adding a green dusting.

Result.

Step 33

So, we have completed the creation of decorative sprinkling. In this step, we will create shadows for the text ‘ICE’. Using a soft brush, brush color # 77a6a9, add shadows as shown in the screenshot below. Reduce the opacity of the shadow layer to 40%.

Step 34

Add adjustment layer Curves (Curves) through the bottom toolbar. Set the curve as shown in the screenshot below.

Next, using a soft brush, hide separate areas, as shown in the screenshot below.

Step 35

Next, add an adjustment layer. Brightness / Contrast (Brightness / Contrast).

Also hide the correction on the layer mask, as shown in the screenshot below.
