Multicolored text in Photoshop

In this tutorial, you will learn how to create a bright text effect in Photoshop.

Final image

We start by creating a new document (CTRL + N) 1900×1200 px (RGB mode) with a resolution of 72 pixels / inch. Then click on the button Add a layer style (Add layer style) at the bottom of the Layer Panel and select Gradient overlay (Gradient overlap).

Click on the color bar to open Gradient editor (Gradient Editor) and set the colors as in the screenshot below. Click OK to close the dialog box.

We get this background:

Activate Horizontal type tool (Horizontal text) (T). Select the font, size and color on the panel Character (Symbol).

Click on the working canvas and write “Adobe Lightroom 3”. Click Enter.

Click on Add a layer style (Add layer style) at the bottom of the Layer Panel and select Drop shadow (Shadow).

We get just such a shadow on the text:

Create a new layer and select a brush. Soft mechanical.

Paint over text with brush # 07384F with Opacity (Opacity) 30%.

Hold down the key Alt (Windows) or Option (Mac OS) and click between the layer you just worked on and the text layer to create a clipping mask.

We get the following result:

After that we activate Pen tool (Pen) (P), set the mode to Shape layers (Layer layer) and draw a shape as shown below. Color choose # 13A7C5.

Install Fill (Fill) layer at 0%, click Add a layer style (Add layer style) at the bottom of the Layer Panel and select Outer glow (External glow).

AND Inner glow (Internal glow):

We get the following result:

Paste the mask on the layer by clicking on the button. Add layer mask (Add layer mask) at the bottom of the Layers panel, then select the brush Soft mechanical black with Opacity (Opacity) 15%.

Use the brush to edit the mask to smooth the edges of the shape.

Hold down the key Alt (Windows) or Option (Mac OS) and click between layers to create a clipping mask.

We get the following result:

Duplicate several times (CTRL + J) the last layer created, activate Free transform (Free Transform) (CTRL + T) and change the location of copies, placing them throughout the text. Hold Alt (Windows) or Option (Mac OS) and click between layers to create a clipping mask.

Use again Pen tool (Pen) (P) to draw a new shape with the color # B6BC36.

Install Fill (Fill) layer at 0%, click on the button Add a layer style (Add layer style) at the bottom of the Layer Panel and select Outer glow (External glow).

AND Inner glow (Internal glow):

We get the following result:

Paste the mask on the layer by clicking on the button. Add layer mask (Add layer mask) at the bottom of the Layers panel, and select the brush Soft mechanical black with Opacity (Opacity) 15%.

We draw with a brush on the mask to soften the edges of the shape, as we did before.

We clamp Alt (Windows) or Option (Mac OS) and click between layers to create a clipping mask.

We get the following result:

Next we need to create some copies of the last layer created, then activate Free transform (Free Transformation) (CTRL + T) to adjust the arrangement of copies as shown below. Hold Alt (Windows) or Option (Mac OS) and click between layers to create a clipping mask.

Use again Pen tool (Feather) (P) to create a new shape.

Install Fill (Fill) layer at 0%, click on the button Add a layer style (Add layer style) at the bottom of the Layer Panel and select Outer glow (External glow).

AND Inner glow (Internal glow):

We get the following result:

We paste the mask on the layer as we did before, and adjust the shape with a black brush.

We clamp Alt (Windows) or Option (Mac OS) and click between layers to create a clipping mask.

We get the following result:

Create multiple copies of the shape and using Free transform (Free Transformation) (CTRL + T) adjust their location.

Create a new layer and use a brush. Soft mechanical yellow with Opacity (Opacity) 15%.

Use the brush to paint the white areas on the text.

Create a new layer and change the brush color to red to paint the red areas on the text.

Create a new layer and select a brush. Soft mechanical blue with Opacity (opacity) 15% to fill in the blue areas of the text.

We get the following result:

Create another new layer using a brush. Soft mechanical color # 44425B with Opacity 20%, draw a shadow on the text.

We press the button Create new fill or adjustment layer (Create a new fill or adjustment layer) at the bottom of the Layer Panel and select Curves (Curves) to make a slight color correction.

We get the following result:

We press the button Create new fill or adjustment layer (Create a new fill or adjustment layer) at the bottom of the Layer Panel and select Hue / Saturation (Hue / Saturation).

Move the sliders to the right to increase the level Saturation (Saturation).
